    Beginner here. Been at this for 2 hours and can't get past the 4 and a half minute mark. The 28 gauge wire is WAY too thin to wrap and my 20 gauge wire is bending all to hell.

    I am sorry you are having a hard time, this video would be pretty difficult to do as a beginner. I highly recommend starting with beads rather than cabochons as that is how I myself started. Here are some beginner friendly projects: Using beads: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iYqi1cdpZNHcmdI.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/daKOuZuIet3NccY.htmlsi=JDQe7oLDRC0WP0S6 kzread.info/dash/bejne/mHl9k7ikoJyqabw.htmlsi=AR07yMWwSCncsCyB Using cabochons: kzread.info/dash/bejne/i4B5qaSDkpXVpNo.htmlsi=iOJXNCRnWL_LuBVB kzread.info/dash/bejne/kaqjr5WdhZe8cag.htmlsi=fgOnUIA5OvDn7Ukq

    @@OxanaCrafts Thank you SO much! I'm really looking forward to learning. I tend to be a perfectionist and too hard on myself. I don't know why I think I can pick up a skill and master it or expect myself to master it in a day or two! Lol

    When you oxidize will it hurt epoxy resin “stones”?

    Hello Oxana. I oxidized my pendants yesterday. Although the antique look is nice, I prefer the copper color rather than the silvery-black color. Is there a different product that oxidizes copper but keeps more of its natural color? If I use less of the liver of sulfur, would that work better? Thank you.

  • @OxanaCrafts
    @OxanaCrafts3 күн бұрын

    After you polish up the oxidized piece it will have the bright copper highlights. If they don't quite look orang-ey and warm toned, just give it a day, sometimes immediately after oxidizing the color is temporarily more cool toned.

    I came into this world a Rockhound, my first steps were to grab a shiny rock I saw. Then I got a cheap flat lap and started cutting cabs... Now i have a ridiculous number of cabs, tumbled stones, rough brilliantly shiny stones, fluorescent stones... You name it! Im thinking seriously about getting into this part of the process! Im curious if wire wraps or bezel settings are more lucrative.

  • @OxanaCrafts
    @OxanaCrafts4 күн бұрын

    I'm not sure which is more lucrative, I find it to be a fairly difficult business to be in, but also very rewarding . With metalsmithing you would need a lot of supplies and equipment upfront, unless you can find a class to take where those things are provided.

    I always thought that people who made wire wrapped jewelry had to have years of training usually a jeweler. Watching your videos has changed my mind, you make it look so easy. I just have to make something I’m sure it won’t turn out like yours but I’m sure it will be something I can be proud of. I owe it all to you. Where can I find some wire in the gauges you recommended? I don’t want to buy full rolls until I’m sure I can master this craft. Thank you in advance for your advice. ❤❤❤

    I have some beginner videos that would be good if you are just getting started, I try to use easy to find wires in my beginner videos, like Artistic Wire for example that you can find in a crafts store. Here's a few videos that use 20 gauge round wire which should be easy to find : kzread.info/dash/bejne/fmaJytiIiL2tpto.html and kzread.info/dash/bejne/daKOuZuIet3NccY.html

    Another place to look for stones, tools, beads, wire etc is if your area has a rock and gem show annually. They're an awesome place to find & see stones in person!!

    Can I use a 3/4 inch square cabochon for this tutorial? I plan to use half hard silver wire. I like the interlock on the stone for this tutorial. Your tutorials have been a tremendous help to me.

  • @OxanaCrafts
    @OxanaCrafts6 күн бұрын

    I don't think a square would work, you'd need some adjustments, otherside the stone would slide out. This shape doesn't slide out because the widest part is in the middle and the ends are narrow, so the wide part doesn't fit through the opening.
