    I went to Affinity years ago when Adobe went to subscription. I use it commercially and privately as a graphic designer and photographer, I have not found it lacking. Slight learning curve with the different interface and tool names, but it's an excellent alternative to Adobe, and so much cheaper. $1500.00 for CS6 , and about %50.00 for AP, quite the difference.

    So, having personally made a comparison of Affinity Photo 2 and the last non-subscription Photoshop (version CS6), I'd like to know a couple of things. Firstly and importantly, why don't Affinity own their own lens correction profile list? The list of xml profiles used in Affinity 2 is way out of date, and seems to be rarely if ever updated by whoever does own the list. The Adobe list is invariably up-to-date, and all their profiles work well in Camera Raw and the 12-year old CS6. But in spite of assurances to the contrary in the Affinity Photo forum, Adobe profiles don't successfully transfer to Affinity. They behave very weirdly and even make distortions and aberrations worse. My own examples are the Sigma 35mm F1.4 (Art. 21) for Sony and Lumix, and Sony 50mm F1.4 GM, neither of which have profiles for Affinity. I think this is a serious deficiency in an image editing application trying to attract professional photographers who work with RAW image files. My second issue is simply the speed of Affinity Photo 2. Why does it perform generally slower than the 12-year old Photoshop CS6? It's not an issue that would prevent me for using it if I didn't have alternatives, but I would have expected Affinity Photo 2 to have been at least equal to, if not faster than, PS CS6. To me the lens correction issue (and the fact that Affinity doesn't own its own lens correction profile list) is a bit of a dealbreaker. I bought my copy of Affinty Photo 2 based of good reviews - no reviews mentioned anything about lens correction profiles. But it turns out that Affinity Photo 2 doesn't give me very much that I can't do, and do quicker, in PS CS6. And the one thing that I really need it to do at the tap of a stylus, or mouse click, it can't be relied on to do - especially for quite a lot of lenses made in the last couple of years.

    I've had Affinity since they first released and along with you, I like the price (on sale, Affinity 2 is like $50 for PC & Mac licenses) and the 360 tooling. I also find it easier to work with than Adobe's products, not necessarily better functionality, but easier to get things done. With Adobe it really helps if you're a long time regular user and know it in depth. With Affinity, it's easier to figure out how to do things and it seems easier to leave it for awhile and come back and pick it right back up again. Good to see you back 🙂

    So glad to hear you're on the mend. Always enjoy your videos. I purchased an M50 a while back on your recommendation and it's been a good investment for me. I've had a part 107 for three years and flown mostly the DJI mini series. I was wondering, in terms of commercial work, as a next step up in drones, would an Air2S be okay or do you think the added expense to move up to a Mavic would be worthwhile? Thanks, so glad you're back at it. Cheers!

  • @AZ-Drone
    @AZ-Drone17 күн бұрын

    Glad to hear you've enjoyed my videos. And I'm glad to hear the M50 has worked out for you. To be honest, that Air2S can do a lot for you. If I were to recommend a Mavic it would be the Mavic 3 Pro, not the enterprise. If you are getting into mapping and modeling, the 3E is good. But if you want to do things like video time lapse, standard video, high quality stills and 360s I'd select the Pro. But keep in mind, your Air2S offers a lot too.

    Hi Rich, I have had Affinity Photo for several years but rarely use it. I just stopped my Adobe subscription, because I use Luminar Neo for most of my editing. It's features are great, but it lacks some of the features I like in PS. After watching this video I purchased the Affinity upgrade through the offer in my old version and got a lot of extras in the bundle for $62. I think it will be all I need, and what a great price! Great video! I hope to see more in the future. I have learned more from you over the years than from any other person or source! I sincerely appreciate all of your work and the value you offer through your classes. I wish you the best in health and prosperity.

I have a question: if a customer wants to check the progress of the housing development and you can view it on your computer with the 360 picture, zoom in and out, etc., how can the customer see the same thing if they don't have the software? Is there a way to export it or something similar? Thanks!

    I tend to set up a test shot with a white sheet and a grey card showing prominently. I edit that image getting the white balance etc from the grey card or the white sheet. Then transfer all the settings of the other images without the cards in the shots. I rarely see it being done, especially if several 360 shots are being taken in different locations of the same room it helps.

  • @AZ-Drone
    @AZ-DroneАй бұрын

    Ah you really hit on something with that question. I continue to help them because of their employees. The owners dump a lot of work on the employees. Most employees at RV Parks and Resorts are "work campers". They get a price break on their sites in exchange for work. Thing is, many parks dump all the work on their work campers for little pay. Many work full time and make less than a new minimum wage. When these folks call me they're usually desperate for help and the owners expect them to do way more than any single job roll. Often work campers are really taken advantage of. One resort chain has a full time accountant who makes little for doing the work across more than 10 parks. She'd make more at a big box store. So I continue to help because I feel bad about the position these folks are put in. The owners show feel shame.
