Arizona Drone Update - Medical Issues Continue - 5 Weeks To Get Seen

Ғылым және технология

Today's video is about my current health issues. After a successful hernia surgery weeks ago, another issue has come up. Unfortunately I can't get seen by the surgeon until the second week in April. The Prescott medical system is extremely overwhelmed. Appointment with doctors are months out before you can even get fully evaluated.
I'd rather be talking about drones here. But at the moment my entire world seems to be waiting and waiting for someone to help me resolve this issue.

I am a retired urologist. I am so sorry that you are going through this. I have seen a huge decline in what I would call basic medicine. I was taught to take a good history and do a physical exam before ordering tests. That, I think, would have made your diagnosis much quicker. You are fortunate that you did not have an incarcerated hernia where you would have been at risk for a part of the intestine involved could have died. I hope and pray you feel better soon. I wish I lived in your area as I would be happy to help.

Thanks for your insights. I really feel like the medical system is failing me right now. I know I'm not alone, but I just need some help from the medical profession right now.

I agree with you. I know I’m an old geezer (70 years old) but in my view, I think medicine has declined by relying more and more on tests and imaging studies. I hope you feel better soon and you get quicker service.

I am so sorry that you are going through all of this Rich! Love your work and miss you on the channel. My brother-in-law is going through a similar situation at a hospital in South Georgia. I can't believe the incompetence in some of these hospitals. I am right now, praying for the Lord to heal you Rich and I do believe he will do so and hope you believe that as well. God bless you, man.

I’m sorry to hear about your situation. As @jamesruse said, try another ER, specially a hospital that belongs to a different company. My wife works in the field and that’s our experience. May God bless you and open the ‘doors’ for you.

I'm so sorry you are in pain. I pray you find relief soon. My stepfather a young 80yrs old had to wait several months for back surgery. His doctor literally said i could give you heroine and it wouldn't touch your pain, so he sent him with no relief until surgery. It feels as if every American institution is being intentionally destroyed. We are paying for trusting in those who have sworn an oath to protect us. Things are going to get much worse before they get better! Stay strong and especially stay safe my American family!

Hey Rich. So sorry to hear about your struggles. Going through something similar but with a "repaired" detached retina. Surgery almost 3 months ago, but I still can't see from the eye that they told me I would lose the vision if I didn't act quickly. I was seeing better before the surgery. It's hard keeping track of a drone with one good eye much less staring up into the sunlight. Stay strong bro. I'm hoping that your business isn't affected too much and that you can return to normal as soon as possible.

Wow, Rich! What a journey. Catching up on this unfortunate series of events. I sympathize with you and your view on the pathetic state of the medical industry. So disheartening. Given this was a few months ago at this point, I hope things have progressed for the better in this hernia journey. Sending you all the good juju vibes!

The medical system is crap half the time or more. Unbelievable that it took three ER trips with a hernia that you can literally feel. I went in for an annual (after 7 years) and the bloodwork had 220 fasting blood sugar. I had a couple months before the doc visit and immediately changed my diet. When I saw the doc I’d gotten the blood sugar way down and planned to continue but doc wanted to just put me on meds for full blown diabetes. 7 months later my blood sugar is good and my A1C is good. 6 of the 10 blood work items were in the normal range and the other 4 were really close to normal.

Wow on your blood work. Great job managing it yourself. In total I've been down for 6 months myself. One of my appointments for a scan took 7.5 weeks just to see the doctor for the scan order. We've been doing a lot of our own searching as the appointments were so far apart.

@@AZ-Drone hang in there. In 1997 to Nov of 98 I was suffering horribly with arthritic pains and skin lesions on my hands and feet. My hands were so bad that it took two hands and gloves to be able to turn a door knob. They were literally raw. I was being treated by my the department heads for rheumatology and dermatology at Bethesda National Naval Medical Center and was only getting worse. You know you’re screwed when the top Naval Hospital sends you to the photographer for pics of your condition. I ended up being separated from the Marines with 18 years service. I got through it all and worked for a small county as a mechanic then bus driver and earned a small pension from there before retiring at 43 in August 2004. I did get through it and life for better. Today, over 25 years later, I’m still doing well despite having to stop eating a horrible diet to correct my blood sugar. Hang in there.

Rich, your story is appalling! You have been going through all this and you were still gracious enough to reply to my email a couple of days ago with some drone assistance. Thank you again for your help. I echo the urologist who commented on the decline of basic medical care. As a retired medical professional, I have witnessed this decline over the years and it is tragic. I know of so many instances of medical offices ignoring patients’ urgent problems, not returning calls, not following up. My only advice would be to maybe visit an ER at a different hospital. Maybe you will get better care. How the medical profession botched the whole Covid response was sickening. Doctors literally killed thousands of people with their blind adherence to Fauci and CDC treatment guidelines. I personally don’t trust the medical profession at all anymore. I am very careful and selective when I seek care, and I don’t just follow every recommendation a doctor gives me without using my own common sense and making my own decisions. I wish you the best, Rich, and you have my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks! James! This has been really hard, and it feels like no end in site. I've been told I have to be my own advocate for my health care, but at this point I'm worn out. We'll keep marching toward April 8th. I'm considering having Jodi drive me to Phoenix and try an ER there. I just don't know, 4 hour round trip while I'm feeling bad. A little overwhelmed. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers my friend.

@@AZ-Drone You do have to be your own advocate. Wow, you’re 4 hours from the next decent hospital? Dang. You mentioned that you don’t want to take the pain meds. But if you have some on hand, I would say take them as prescribed and let Jodi take you to Phoenix. I would bet you would get much better treatment and much sooner. I went to my city’s ER one night with immense pain in my abdomen and our ER docs found the problem immediately, admitted me to the hospital, and scheduled surgery for intestinal blockage the next day! If our ER docs were as poor as yours are, I would be dead. Find a way to get treatment elsewhere. I wish you Godspeed!
