  Cheapskate way of scrapping big ships so popular today to save the companies money whilst polluting the oceans. One thing with these cruise ships the scrap yard workers must have had a party. Relatively new. Less hazardous materials. No nasty chemicals like tankers or bulkers. Plenty of smart pickings. Much safer to work on and guaranteed work for ages. Win win.

  The amount of engineering put in every corner of the ship is incredibly fascinating. Including the life boats! Thank God someone came up with the amazing idea by adding engines to lifeboats as well so the passengers will be extra safe and be able to get to land. I hope those events will never happen, but if God forbid something horrible will happen, they are in good hands.

  Stripes are interesting. They are visual identifiers of what that person's "job" is. There is no conflict there. When it comes to - what he mentioned - the relationship between responsibilities and authority - that's where it can become problematic. Most international legal agreements are based on the concept of "mutually binding" You cannot impose responsibilities on one part for which the other party is not equally responsible for. I wish more "employees" would know and use their rights to file for "unilateral breach of contract" by a boss who assigns responsibility but undermines or even strips them of their authority on issues.

  I sailed on the Pacific Explorer back in 2001 when it was the Dawn Princess! Beautiful ship then.. and I am sure it still is now! Also, the Pacific Jewel when it was Crown Princess was my parents first anniversary cruise together in ‘91❤

  Obviously there are inherent dangers with deploying the lifeboats but I think every ship or ship class should have to practice a full evacuation all guests and crew every few years
