Alfie, another great video, thank you. Also, please let the engineer he did an amazing job on the piano!
I love the Promenade Deck, Charlie’s Bar, Ocean Bar, The Pantry and Waterfront Restaurant as well as the Marquee Theatre. And the carpet is beautiful too everywhere and I miss the ship too she certainly has personality too and she is a little beauty love the Pacific Explorer and want to go back on board and feel the atmosphere again
This is certainly a beautiful ship and I love the Promenade deck. The drydock was very successful in removing the Princess feel of the ship which was long overdue. I do hope we see her in Australia and sailing with passengers in the near future.
The theater felt haunted. I believe it misses the laughter and life that usually fills it. Thanks for sharing.
hey I like touring your private ship. Lots of changes in color and design. I just hope she can return to service real soon and making jobs available. Your piano Man - great job Sir. Maybe have him play 1 night a week!!!
Thanks for the tour.
I enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for sharing and keeping us updated on cruise news.
Thanks for the video nice to see the ship .... enjoyed!
I enjoyed the tour. Thanks.
Love it when you do empty ship tours.
Wow, great video bro👊
Thanks for sharing, I do miss cruising.
Great to see the subscribers going up. Tells you how good your channel is.
Thanks for this video. Can't wait to board ship again.
Great tour Alfie thanks I love that elevator can’t wait for part two to come out have a great day
The ship looks great with the renovations!
Awesome video, thanks Alfie...
Great video thanks I also very much enjoyed the black Circus
Great video 👍🏼.
Ahhhh....the memories. Can’t wait to get back onboard.
Really looking forward to getting onboard this ship in the new year, provided all is well!
Thanks for the tour we have been on the Explorer and loved it was nice seeing it again now looking forward to part two to see any changes, ps favourite foodie space is the 'Dragon Lady' 🙂🇦🇺
Just booked for end of May,YAY!!! Happy dance!
I really like this style of ship our first ever cruise was on oceana and now she has gone from the uk fleet it’s nice to see areas so familiar thanks for showing us 🚢🚢👍🏻👍🏻
Great video, Alfie, thank you! To see abandoned theater and backstage is especially heartbreaking for the performers... The piano player played a song from old 1973 soviet movie "Sannikov land", it's a beautiful meaningful song and a great performance from your colleague) Be safe , guys!
I haven't been on a P and O ship so I really enjoyed the tour and seeing the public spaces and some behind the scene places too. Looked like lots of lovely, beautifully furnished and carpeted, places to enjoy and relax! Enjoyed the piano playing! Looking forward to part 2! Thanks again Alfie. Stay safe and take care. Rhonda Calgary, Canada
I love you video and glad the cruise ship back to sail again. I miss my job also can't wait to go back now.
Fabulous ship tour. We have booked to sail on Explorer next year and looking to book Encounter as well so looking forward to cruising again. Thanks so much for sharing these videos. Stay safe
Excellent vlog Alfie. You’ve obviously been on one of those dance mat machines before with moves like that🤣. So sad to see ships empty like that with no life in them. Look forward to part 2. 👍
Thank you for the tour of the ship.. Also, loved the music. Tell him thanks for playing for us..
Thanks for another interesting vlog, Alfie... The ship will come back to life once people and crew are on board again… Awesome pianist… Stay safe💕🇨🇦💕🇨🇦
Love your videos. We had our 6th Disney cruise in 2020 rescheduled to 2021, which got cancelled as well. Now we are hoping for 2023. Hopefully everything gets back to normal soon for everyone.
Did the taste of salt twice with the love riot show twice, absolutely loved it and made great friends from the taste of salt dinner
I do miss going on holiday with P/O ships. Thank you for all that you bring to us. From the ex-old Royal Marine.
Hi again Alfie! It's great to see you again. Could you please show us some passenger cabins, especially balcony and suites? Thanks so much! 🌈🛳
The ship looks beautiful. The galley tour was especially interesting. As passengers, it is part of the ship we never see. Thank you
Wonderful, thank you Alfie! Also enjoying the several references to Danny Black ;)
Me and my son enjoyed the Tour of the ship today it reminds us of our holiday in 2009 when we went on P&O uk Oceana which What's the Saying specification we recognised most of the rooms what were very similar Oceana but your ship must be older we noticed Bridge ends will not enclosed like Oceana was. Great video cheers keep safe look forwards to new video. All the best Philip
Another great video looking forward to part 2. Would be great to see both the bow & stern mooring decks and an overview of the equipment and operations in those areas. ECR obviously a great one to see but not sure how you would get sign off to show that in any detail. I remember doing a behind the scenes tour on P&O Oriana (now the MV Piano Land) and they were so nervous about telling us anything and turned most of the VDU’s off. Maybe and explanation by you about why the ECR is so well protected would be a great topic to discuss in a video. Bridge tour is going to be the video that takes your channel to the next level and one everybody will ask for, so I’ll just say I’m looking forward to that when it comes. Thanks again for taking the time out of your down time to make the videos, you keep a trucker entertained on his breaks. Regards Dave
I can definitely see the Princess in the ship.
Really enjoying your vlogs. Can't wait for part 2 (I sailed on the Dawn Princess). Stay safe. P.S. the piano player was great; I think he could have 2 jobs on board ship 😁
So many great memories on that ship with you Alfie !!!
Hi! Great video ! As always ! 💕 coming from Cleveland Ohio!
We have these machines in our arcade on shore in UK. Awesome! Level up looks fun.
Great video especially showing non passenger areas. My how the ship has changed since Dawn Princess days but at the same time knowing the layout of same. We were to sail on her back in 2020 after her dry dock in Singapore but alas our cruise got cancelled and she sailed without us back to Sydney. Hopefully in the near future it will happen and we can do our Singapore to Sydney cruise. Stay safe, hmm believe your probably in the safest place on earth at the moment, till your next video. Best wishes as always from the land down under
Thanks Mate
I hope for all the many thousands of staff who make our cruises the best experience ever, that we will all be sailing again very very soon. Thankyou for showing us around . I’m off to watch part two .
I loved having pizza for lunch and watching/listening to what was going on in the atrium. It will be nice in the evening.
Very nice
Great Video!! I was Flying By your sister Ship Pacific Encounter today!! 8-2-2021
Thanks for sharing. Regards from Australia 🤓🇦🇺
I added your video to my Facebook page. Great to see Pacific Explorer again.

This was my first ship I worked on, Dawn princess back then. I worked as a bar waiter (steward). I was in Singapore when P&O took it over. They sent me to Star princess after, I fell in love with navigation and bridge, tnx to staff captain Marco Cataldi.. I tried to forget it by choosing different careers but that didn’t work out, I just wasn’t happy. I should start my maritime college in Slovenia this year hopefully at 30yo.
I just retired from Sheet Metal Workers LU104 and I used to do a lot of SS kitchen installs including welded grease duct and hood hook-ups. Thats a lot of SS in that galley. Thanks for sharing those views.
Pretty cool.
This is my favourite ship! It was so depressing seeing the Pacific Explorer like that! I used to love going to the Black Circus each sea day morning for Cruise Directors Trivia and then Bingo, back in the afternoon for bingo. Sit in the Ocean Bar with a cocktail and listen to whoever is playing especially cruises when a Mr Danny Black was playing. Theme Nights Gatsby being my favourite as it made me feel special as I would go to the spa and get my hair and make-up done. Even going to the Casino and having a few dollars in the poker machines was fun.. Food was another favourite pastime on board. From the Pantry to the chicken wings at Luke's. OMG! Can't wait to get back on board
I get the feeling as if I myself used to walk those decks, even though I never set foot on a P&O ship, but still it kind of looks familiar. It's nice ship.Cheers.
Thanks Alfie for a wonderful (partial). Beautiful ship! I am surprised to see (almost?) a fully lit ship; different from the previous, dark empty ship. Could take off a "gene" if the lights are off!. Be safe and enjoy this duration.
Thanks for the post. The most striking thing was how quiet it is. These ships were designed to be active and full of people and activity 24 hrs a day. Hope to cruise Feb 2022 with Carnival out of Tampa
Lots of artistic creativity put into the interior of that ship and lots of the other cruise ships too I think, they need to get back into service ASAP
I love your videos! That roulette wheel ceiling is awesome. That's a very clever feature. Honestly, these videos just make me kinda sad. To go from lively and fully occupied to absolute silence for over a year. Just...eerie. But then we have to remember that the cruise is industry is SO CLOSE to getting back into operation. People slam cruiselines for being unsanitary, overpriced, and overrated. But they are far from it, especially after all of this. There are thousands of hard-working men and women on these boats 24/7 keeping them up to speed for their eventual return. I commend those who stayed behind, away from their families during the pandemic, to man the ship and keep her in order.
Can’t wait to cruise again. I’ll have to make a point of using every elevator cos they look awesome
Looking very different from Princess.Have been on Oceana and Sea Princess which I believe are the same ? Really enjoy your videos from the first one I saw when you stuck on the Coral, just before you set sail to bring crew home. Keep them coming. 👍
We are booked on Explorer in July, and now see you are on move towards Suez, good news
This was so informative! My partner and I are going on our first cruise in September, on the Pacific Explorer. This was good to watch

This boat is genuinely the worst cruising experience you can have
Definitely a step from the Pacific Jewel on went on in 2016. I went on the Pacific Explorer but in winter 2018. Haven't been on a cruise ship for 464 days, I'm certain there will be those cruisers that have been a lot longer.
More please both my wife and I have missed you on youtube, we'll hold our breath waiting for your next one xx

ENGINE ROOM TOUR? Forecastle or anchor handling equipment area? Dry Stores? Central control room? Perhaps beg the captain for a glimpse of his cabin and yours and other top officers accommodations? A glimpse at the various levels of combination including your top suites ( marketing Department may appreciate that as you are starting to reach a large group of potential cruise passengers and showing off the combinations and benefits would be cool) basically an all access all area tour that may have some cool spots that was left off the "behind the scenes tour" . does P&O do that like celebrity does( I paid over 150 to see the innerworkings of the celebrity equinox) I feel it was kind of a rip off and a gimmick tour and it left off a lot of the cool stuff I had hoped to see since a lot of the ships are pretty much similar in their basic configuration it would be neat to see the difference in the different ships! I'm sure he stated this in prior videos but what is the normal passenger load and crew load still crew consist of are only the kitchens crew dining open I take it you can't read the deep freezers for some filet mignon's and cook them up in your cabin!!.... LOL JK thank you for all of your hard work and your consent continued dedication to your videos and being an advocate for the cruise industry keep up the hard work ! -Michael, USA
very interesting.xx
Awesome pianist. :)
My Favourite spot Charlie’s Bar
Explorer is my favourite P&O ship
This is wonderful and sad at the same time. Can’t wait to cruise on this fabulous new ship. I wonder if there are a few ghosts floating about on the lower decks!
We have multiple cruises booked on Pacific Encounter and Pacific Explorer. I just wish our govt would announce when (and how) cruising can resume in Australia.

I read that your government is talking about keeping international tourists out until 2024! I am so sad. I have a 21 day New Zealand/Queensland bucket list cruise booked for Feb 2022, but it sounds like that will not happen. I hope you get cruising soon.

@@lovecruisin6457 the Federal Government announced this week, borders closed until Mid 2022. Also depends on vaccine rollout. This has been slow & now is starting to increase. Then we have to see the results before that date is brought forward or pushed back. My guess is your cruise will be cancelled because if there are cruises, they will be different anyway. It’s a big ‘if’ they start & likely to be only in one country. So your cruise would be rescheduled.

@@lovecruisin6457 of course this is only my opinion, trying to predict what our Health Departments decisions about cruise ships will be. My fear is they’re not considering anything. All action is getting people vaccinated & when the majority are, we’ll be allowed overseas. (Along with foreigners into Australia & NZ) Antartica is the place we’d love to go. Just a cruise up or down the coast will do for now!

our first cruise on the pacific explorer we were on deck eight, at the entrance to the 400 where you first walked in, we never ate at the 400.
I will be on that ship on the 31st of May out of Sydney first one after the pandemic can't wait wish you were still on board working it would have been nice to meet you
Loved seeing this! I am booked on the first cruise out of Sydney in 2 years!! Little backstory, I received a kidney transplant in Jan 2020, and doctors promised once i received the kidney I was allowed to cruise.. I have waited a very long 2 years for this day!!!

Oh plus waiting the 9 years for a kidney!!!
Its so sad. My family and i were on the explorer for the 2020 new years cruise. We thought 2020 would be the best year. Only weeks later covid happened. Its so sureal to see everything so empty when it was such a fun happy buzzing ship.
So sad to see. Cruise ships should be full of people having fun. Miss life on the ship. Hoping we can all get back on board sooner rather than later 🤞
Very sad to see this beautiful ship abandoned like this 😞 we done our first cruise on explorer totally loved it, hope to be back on her one day real soon. I hope you and all the crew are doing ok. Totally enjoyed the tour.
Great video, I can't wait until the next part. When will it be out?

Thanks Chris, should be out by the weekend
Wow, I remember the spooky video.
I loved pacific explorer. I think it’s a good idea to block off the restaurant. Makes it more private as it’s not a cafe
Great video is it possible to do one around the lower decks crew accommodation mooring stations generally stuff what the public would not see as an ex seaman I would like to view
Just booked my cruise with this ship for 4 days gonna come clean out ya casino 😜
I have a cruise booked on the Explorer with the Grandkids ( their first cruise) in December. It is a local cruise so I hope the Australian Government pulls their finger out and lets the cruise industry get back to it.
Happy Tuesday Alfie!!! So weird to see such a ship completely empty of passengers. I don't know if you're able to answer my question. Because maybe you can't say what's going on behind the doors of the shopping areas because of security reasons. But, I can't help but wonder what happened to all the stock of items in those shops? Is it still there? Or was items, like the jewels, taken off the ship? Say a big thanks to the second engineer, Rusha (spelling?) for his performance. I really liked it. (thumbs up) And can I ever see the changes from the original Dawn Princess ship setting. (WOW) Looking forward to seeing the rest of the tour!!! Hope you are all doing as good as possible there in the Singapore harbor.
@SameShipDifferentDay

Hi Cory, I believe a lot of the stock was landed before she left Australia. However, it's possible that there is still some stock onboard. Especially anything ship specific. You can see they are actually security seals on the doors so we would only enter in there was an emergency
love the ship , i don't know if its just the way the camera picked up the audio, but at the start of the piano playing and sometimes during, the piano sounded out of tune ,but he was great at the playing it
@mattcherry276
3 жыл бұрын
It was out of tune. Which is to be expected - a piano tuner isn't going to be considered 'essential' enough to go through the phaff of getting them on board, so it won't have been done for over a year.
Great video ! any chance of seeing the medical center on the next video?
To think I had a ticket booked for explorer for last year well that when to shitte. Was going to be first time on it was hoping it was going to be as good as pearl or jewel or atleast better then Eden or aria
Fascinating. How many of you are on the ship? Have you been on the whole time since the pandemic started?
@SameShipDifferentDay

Hi Fran, I talk about the numbers in the upcoming video, but I can confirm we haven't been on that long! I joined in February 2021
Thank you for the tour. So sad its empty no hussel and bussel of passagiers 😥. Fingers crossed you get vaccinated soon allowed to sail again in full .🙏. How long will you stay on the ship ? You have so many months on / then off . Beautiful piano playing 😊
loved this video, thanks for sharing and showing some behind the scenes parts I've never seen :) are you allowed to swim or anything? considering there are no passengers? what do you do to keep yourself entertained without any board activities happening? I think id be pretty creeped out on the ship with no one else onboard. approx how many other crew are onboard with u? #SameShipDifferentDay?

Hi Debbie, there are about 110 of us at the moment, as yes we can use the pool
Hi Alfie, Thanks for your tour of the ship. I am looking forward to our up-coming cruise in her in December and trying all the venues you have highlighted. Have you hears of the release from the Home Affairs department in Australia stating that "All foreign-flagged cruise ships must employ Australian staff for hospitality and non specialised rolls." It goes on to say "The government is insisting cruise ship operators wanting to sail Australian waters must employ Australians to take on Hospitality and other non-specialised jobs, despite a shortage of such staff across the country". This is a direct copy of what New Zealand did to the Le Laperouse in January 2021. Headline "Government halts cruise ship, insists crew must be Kiwi". It is a Government making decisions to shift the blame from them to the cruise operators. I know you are restricted with what you can say, but I just wanted to let you and your colleagues know we support you. 🚢👍

Thanks Leslie. That's interesting, as for my entire career it has been the exact opposite! Australians avoid working on ships in Australia! Let's see what the future holds
Will you be able to show us into some of the suites/rooms????
I’ve seen videos of big drinking/drunk younger people on these P&O ships. Do people over 60’ever sail on them? This ships looks really good!
Show us the different passenger cabin types from inside to the best
you are alone in an empty cruise ship filming yourself and you're wearing a mask? Very well done.
A strange question for you Alfie....with everything being new but not used for a year, does it all smell “new” - all the new furniture, carpets, etc? Or....often when things are not used for a long time, the rooms begin to smell a bit musty.....it all looks gorgeous and hope sailing can begin again soon! Enjoyed this video alot!

Hi Vicky, I haven't really noticed a smell to be honest but it all looks and feels new!
Really like your videos!! Once you get word, how long will it take to staff the ship and get it up and running ready for a cruise with passengers?

Thank you! It's hard to be sure and obviously now you have to consider vaccinations if required. I'd approximate 6-8 weeks
