All about Tiny Houses, Tree Houses, Small Houses, Backyard Art Studios, Houseboats, Campers, Cool Architecture, and DIY thrift, salvage, and re-use (with a dash of Deek's art work). "RelaxshacksDOTcom" is hosted by Derek "Deek" Diedricksen, former host of HGTV's "Tiny House Builders" and "Extreme Small Spaces", and author of "Humble Homes, Simple Shacks", and "Microshelters". If you slid around the skids every six months on your land then you would have a dwelling that is not a permanent structure - so no need for a dwelling permit! Cool idea. After six months any shelter tent turns into a structure dwelling if it is not taken down or moved. But a temporary shelter requires no permit if it is less than 150 feet. So as long as you move it every six months you don't need to have a tent that is a shelter!! Awesome idea. I was thinking of just building foundations and moving a tent to different foundation locations. The skid idea would bypass the need to use a tent.
fancy!
Just an ad for your workshop
WOW! Thank you for a very nice encouraging tour.
Would love a quick "plan" of the little reading nook you did for the NYU professor. I absolutely LOVE it and would like to build one myself. Would be happy to pay for plans...
I would definitely buy the plans for that build.
@@Bradyvilleboy Same here.
Love it - NZer here
love it
She is ❤
Is there a reason you don't have door open to the outside? It seems to me that would give more free space inside.
You should be proud of it. Nice job!
That’s not a house, that’s a shed.
This is lovely. Honestly, I'd love to have this as a place to relax and read, do my yoga exercises or cross stitch. Fall and spring would be awesome times to spend in one of these. Thank you for sharing this. I'm going to have my husband watch it and see what he thinks. I'm pretty sure he'd love it, too.
I have loved the many iterations of this design. Thanks Deek! And thanks for sharing your build, Daniel. You and your wife built a lovely getaway. 😁👍
You did a video like this cabin years ago
Yes, quite a few of them have been built from my plans
👍😎
Nice job! What did he pay for all the materials?
Around 2700.00 for materials, decor, stove, etc..
@@Dan-440Thanks!
Very nice ☺️
Another great example of Deek’s A-frame. Good job! When you said you’d built a couple of dog houses I wondered if this was another one given that there is only one single bed. 😂
And that my friends is where the magic happens. 😉
Very nice! Patience seems to be key in undertaking new steps. Can you share what the current costs were and if all were new purchases? Any info will be appreciated. I hope many generations will enjoy it.
My total cost for the build, decks, decor, stove etc was around 2700.00. I have noticed that lumber has gone back down in price a smidge. I had basically no free stuff at my disposal.
Great build mate. Hi from Oz
Ok, tell the truth...was that Garrison Keillor doing the tour? Charming. And very nice work.
Lol. Garrison has a Midwestern accent. By the way, I saw him last year at The Caverns. It was a cool show.
That looks just like Brooke Whipples build (Girl in the Woods KZread channel)…I thought you were going to be showing her build!
She was an inspiration. I watched her video probably ten times before I built mine.
She built it from the Relaxshacks plan too- talks about it in her tour. Yes, simple color scheme
It’s a great design…I didn’t know it was from Relaxshacks. I love tiny house builds and started following this channel because I live in Vermont and if memory serves me, he lived in Vermont when starting the channel? He has some great designs…haven’t seen any videos in my feed for awhile, then a few of them lately….looking forward to more!
Found my copy of your book Derek the other day, must have had it about ten years, maybe more. Lots changed since then.
Yeah, I'm older and fatter! lol.
You did such an amazing job on it!! Your decorator did fabulous job too!!
Thank you! That decorator would be me. Lol
@@Dan-440 well you did amazing job at all of it!! I'm so proud of you!! 🙌
Bravo!
Very nice!
Those bugs are gonna eat you alive. Unlivable. Stupid ideas
That is a most excellent design and a pretty darn good job of building it if I do say so myself. Too bad you couldn't get Morgan Freeman or Mike Rowe or someone to give a good voice-over of my hillbilly accent.
Too funny. Thanks again!
it's more new englander accent. hahaha
Your twang doesn't bother me. Nice work. I would be proud.
Nice work! 🤟
Beautiful you have done a wonderful job 💖💖
What incredible design , idea build .
Thanks for checking out the video!
Thank you!
Any questions on the cabin build, or question for Daniel- feel free to drop them in the comments. Thanks!
What an incredible design , build and landscape .
My dream house
Like your house. BUT i still think you need a real pet. You are so good at reusable things. Help out a animal that needs reuse animal..so many pet shelters! Many animals adopt to traveling with you with no problems.
Who knew trash could be so beautiful and so damn cool. ❤
Thanks!
Deek, this is sick bro…! 😎🤙🏻
love it!
🙏
I've been drawn in with nomadic and alternative living for a few years now. I absolutely want to do a build in a box truck. Heading over to check out that movie....thanks for the share and adventure on my friends...
Hope you liked the film!
looks good guys
🙏
What type of heater is that?
Envi is the brand
@@alexeaves thank you
Creative, colorful, inviting, and efficiently made. Kudos to you both!
Thank you!
🤘💪 So cool!
🙏
I love this, I kinda did the same with one of my horse trailers, which I have been living in full time now for 7 years, on the road doing seasonal work and I have a blue-heeler named Comanche-Girl who lives with me.I will see the movie and I am a big fan of relaxshacks, I keep one of the micro shelters books on display in my horse trailer/tiny house.
That sounds amazing!
How I envy these people, they live in a world of opportunities, first world countries and yet they manage to inflate their ego with the fact that they can do things with "garbage" of course in a place where "garbage" is almost new and completely reusable. What they don't show in the video is that many people throw away semi-new things and generate a lot of trash. Here in my Mexico, if someone throws away a piece of furniture, they throw it away already rotten, pissed, or in a bag of dough because it falls apart, I would like them to try to do something. with real garbage.
I enjoy your projects!!
beautiful 🤛🤛
It just makes me smile!❤
Awesome!!!!!
Love it. Very interesting build, well done.
I did get to watch the movie. And about your Covid guest. Great going Guys👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you!
