relaxshacksDOTcom

All about Tiny Houses, Tree Houses, Small Houses, Backyard Art Studios, Houseboats, Campers, Cool Architecture, and DIY thrift, salvage, and re-use (with a dash of Deek's art work). "RelaxshacksDOTcom" is hosted by Derek "Deek" Diedricksen, former host of HGTV's "Tiny House Builders" and "Extreme Small Spaces", and author of "Humble Homes, Simple Shacks", and "Microshelters". Deek and his brother Dustin travel the US touring and filming tiny houses, and more, as they build and design their own works (often featured) at the same time.

If you slid around the skids every six months on your land then you would have a dwelling that is not a permanent structure - so no need for a dwelling permit! Cool idea. After six months any shelter tent turns into a structure dwelling if it is not taken down or moved. But a temporary shelter requires no permit if it is less than 150 feet. So as long as you move it every six months you don't need to have a tent that is a shelter!! Awesome idea. I was thinking of just building foundations and moving a tent to different foundation locations. The skid idea would bypass the need to use a tent.

This is lovely. Honestly, I'd love to have this as a place to relax and read, do my yoga exercises or cross stitch. Fall and spring would be awesome times to spend in one of these. Thank you for sharing this. I'm going to have my husband watch it and see what he thinks. I'm pretty sure he'd love it, too.

My total cost for the build, decks, decor, stove etc was around 2700.00. I have noticed that lumber has gone back down in price a smidge. I had basically no free stuff at my disposal.

How I envy these people, they live in a world of opportunities, first world countries and yet they manage to inflate their ego with the fact that they can do things with "garbage" of course in a place where "garbage" is almost new and completely reusable. What they don't show in the video is that many people throw away semi-new things and generate a lot of trash. Here in my Mexico, if someone throws away a piece of furniture, they throw it away already rotten, pissed, or in a bag of dough because it falls apart, I would like them to try to do something. with real garbage.
