At 03:32:00 , Edward forgot to pay the edict since he had fuel and it was on of the ressources taxed :)
Yup. Totally whiffed on that.
Probably the best Arcs tutorial video I’ve come across. Thank you!
that was awesome.
@3:54:20 Provoking outrage should happen at the point in the combat sequence that the city is destroyed. Followed by ransacking and then raiding. So you can obtain cards or resources of the type outraged in that battle action.
36:00 Sparta can't attack because must control the territory (have more Hoplites than opponent)
31:30 Only if a player controls the Polis of Korinthos, they may move their galleys directly from Kyklades to Ionion pelagos or viceversa, [page 13]. They read on rules at 1:07:15
With the campaign, it’s really interesting that you can see Cole’s past designs in this. I see elements of Pax Pamir, Root, Oath and John Company all mixed in together to make a wholly different experience.
No one has tried to take first regent from Edward in 2 games. Yikes. The point distribution definitely shows it
Given what everyone’s Fate is directing them to do, it makes sense. Keep watching….;)
Thought the same, but then again, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole campaign thing and it still seems like a delicious mystery I'm watching here, or oftentimes just listen to.. on another note, I've seen a new Oath campaign arising here, and since I've tried the PnP expansion content lately I was kind of disappointed that you didn't give it a spin. I may be wrong.
In due time re:Oath expansion.
everyone dressed as their playing colors except Edward haha
Thank you for this, been excited to see you all play. And impressive to see you do it in all one day. Wish I could have been there watching live but having to watch 30min snippets when I get time. Certainly semicooperative element to this Act 1, everyone using and feeding off the empire. Rooting for the believer!
Since you showed the storage solution between acts, allow me to ask a game material question. If I were to play the campain using the extra figures from the miniatures pack, would I be able to play the base game between acts? Or are there still other base game components like ressources "locked up" in the campain storage box? Of course there always is the possibility to throw some placeholders into the campain box to free up components, but that kinda defeats the purpose of having a neat storage solution.
I get what you’re asking, but no, you’re going to have the cities, star ports, resources and more all locked up/mixed in the storage containers. Not to mention the deck having additional cards in it and some of the lore cards mixed in with the Court cards. I THINK the purpose of the storage solution is to make it very quick and easy to set up for following campaign games. Hope that helps!
@@Heavycardboard Thank you, that answers my question. I thought there might be some duplicates of base game components in the expansion box but it's called an expansion for a reason.
This was phenomenal. I’ve subscribed and am super excited for the next game.
If I was Jon and rolled that two on that devastating turn I would have had to lie down on the floor for a minute. The worst of all possible known outcomes.
😩😩

1. Mage Knight 2. Through the Ages? Targi? Twilight Struggle? Dunno. 3. 1849 4. Terra Mystica 5. Indonesia 6. Dune 7. ?? (7 Wonders/Sushi Go/Civilization….it’s a weird one.) 8. Captain Sonar 9. Advanced Civ just can’t be beat.
I don't think you added new blight from the last crisis, I believe new blight should have been added to sector 3 and hexagons.
2:49:42 freudian slip? 😏 LOL
Next month will be 32 years that I went to basic training...it feels like forever and like yesterday all at the same time
Astounding! Thanks.
This is an amazing game but there are some confusing and unclear things on the board and in the rules. The order issues are resolved, for instance. They should have either had identical markers stacked on their spots, or placed them in reading order, with the II marker positioned to the right of the I marker, not underneat it. Another thing that isnt even mentioned in the rulebook is if issue markers are discarded after being resolved! Everyone does it, it seems intuitive, but following the rules as written they should actually remain on the opinions track. The playbook does clear up a lot! Its minor issues that often doesnt matter but its reoccuring questions on BGG so definitely something that could be improved.
You all are the real heroes here. Thank you!
I have only discovered this channel two months ago and have watched some of you guy’s older videos, and I gotta say that Edward is probably the best guy on KZread to be able to coherently explain board game rules without it sounding overwhelming to newcomers. I have been able to enjoy watching you guys play board games I have never heard of and probably never even going to try getting into mostly due to Edward’s rule explanations. So thank you Edward for your work, and I look forward to seeing you explain more board game rules and watching you guys play more board games.
So it seems like they like this game…
I wonder if you could find a balance with the production and maybe they get to place 2 cubes out on each side and 3 dice are rolled. It still gives you the benefit but it cuts the mental load down from 10 to 4 cubes.
Didn't accept arcs to be this good. Basegame gameplay blows my mind already, but the campaign scares me.
This will be your biggest stream. I promise you.
1 hhour rules video, aheuahuhaehae
Welcome to heavy games thoroughly explained. 😅
What would you want?
@@Heavycardboard Exactly this! Super useful.
Awesome! love when this channel plays the games that interest me, y'all are so articulate with your actions, it gives me ideas of how to play myself. Really excited for this one.
This may be the best teach I've seen of any game I've looked up. It was so smooth and methodical and thorough. Great job Edward.
That was really kind of you to say. Thank you and glad you liked it!👍🏼
Voice volumes are kinda up and down between the players and that room has a lot of echo which makes this frustrating to listen to. Everything apart from that seemed pretty well done but I cannot watch the whole thing
@3:24:40 Jess was robbed by a bunch of the type of players that ruin this hobby for me. They not only ignored her objection but laughed at her. Not good people.
Immortal words of Ross 😂
1 Spirit Island 2 Pax Renaissance 3 Food Chain Magnate 4 Tigris & Euphartes 5 Container 6 Dominant Species 7-9 Sidereal Confluence
Still fun to watch this game. Some of the table talk made me LOL. Like "Deciding on if I should poop."
The other advantage of the Dual Layer Build Your Own Player Boards is that the board can adjust to the humidity change from where the boards are made and where they end up and are less likely to warp.
Well played greg
Neta-Tanka (from La Boîte de Jeu) was the first time I encountered the do it yourself dual layered player boards, with Boonlake (from Capstone) being the first very popular game to do it. I much prefer those myself as well - they just don't warp like the ones that are glued in China and then shipped around the world. Looking forward to the campaign for this one. Gentes is definitely a fun game.
I think if shrey built an express he would have won.
I think so too.
So glad to see Jess again!
Dollar? Shame.
@ 2:17:00 I definitely agree that the production decisions are probably the toughest to work out spatially, not just for what the player wants themself, but also what might appeal to others. You all did very well in not letting AP grind that part to a halt, but the risk is pretty clear. Perhaps a nicer alternative would be the dice dictating the cities as normal, but the production player gets to choose which colour cube... where there is a choice presented. Or alternatively based on the end of game discussion, give the production person 2 cubes they choose, with the remaining ones dictated by the dice as normal, as that seemed to be the 'happy' level of decision making.
2:29:09 Jon taking one more from income i think! Impressive map, I enjoyed this stream a lot
dang good catch. it got confusing with the express link at times. weird to say since its literally only adding the number 1 lol.
@@JonArt_As_Board I think you would have gotten an extra point with your last build being to Galway because you could have entered the town on two sides. But that build and the build you actually did depend on having that extra dollar :)
What a wonderful map!
Fast
Gonna leave a few list suggestions that popped into my mind while watching. Havent seen the whole vod so dont mind if any doubles appear. Top x games that won you over - to clarify, games where the "Wow, this is really good" moment didnt appear until later. Top x games that makes you wish you were a teenager again - this one is for games that you wouldve loved to have back when you were a teenager. This one I keep on coming back to with alot of the campaign games that are out now. To have all that free time with friends again, oh boy. Top x games that you reluctantly love - Games you feel like you shouldnt love but still do. Top x games where the theme POPS! - Games that either use the theme to great effect for game feel. Or games where the theme makes the teach so much easier. I'll be back if any more comes to mind. :)
I went to look this up because it looks so good, but does it really have a giant second edition logo on the front?
Dunno. Haven’t gotten the second edition.
Pax Ren at 2, No discussions!
