Welcome! This is my second channel, for casual in depth conversations about the political challenges we all face in the 21st century.

I’m a philosopher. My academic life focuses on the concept of freedom and I'm writing a book about Isaiah Berlin. I'm a British citizen living in London. I was born in Soviet Russia - I left before the collapse of the USSR. I continue to closely analyse Russian politics.

Check out my main channel: Vlad Vexler. I also have specialist channels: Vlad Vexler Philosophy and Vlad Vexler Music. I do some work in musicology.

My content is informed by my experience living with a debilitating neurological condition. I contracted it 20 years ago as a research student at Oxford. For years, I couldn't walk, talk or read. I manage this condition daily and it gives me a unique perspective on disability, the tragic element in life, as well as the beauty.

Highly thought provoking video Vlad. Do appreciate your distinction between what you’re “doing” with the audience rather than what you’re “saying” with the 70-30 number. Certainly put the fear in my stomach when I have been so pleased with the Harris / Walz momentum. Noble sacrifice to take a personal reputation hit of your objective prediction for the sake of keeping people politically engaged 🫡

I generally agree with you except on your 70% 30% likely hood of a Trump win. I would argue that only 1/3 of republicans support Trump. At most 1/3 of the country supports Trump. He is less popular every day due to his bizarre personality pathologies. Kamala oozes hope and joy as does Tim Walz. Democrats, independents and republicans are joyous at not having a Biden/Trump rematch. Poling is notoriously inaccurate but now showing Kamala ahead of Trump by a couple points speaks volumes about the electorate being pumped up for a change.

Vlad do your research. Kamala Harris did nothing for two years as a Senator. She is way more radical than Biden and in fact both Kamala and Waltz are Leftist Socialist, close followers of Bernie Saunders. If you look up Kamala's debate with Biden during the 2019-2020 race, she called Biden a Racist, yet while a prosecutor in San Francisco, she convicted quite a few women of her race. These are facts just research it. Kamala is not interested in Foreign Affairs, she is only interested in domestic policy and changing this Country to be a Socialist model. There are many speeches given by Kamala where she talks about lowering prices by executive action, especially against the Energy sector. Any informed American that knows the US Constitution knows very well that is not possible. Even if by some way, was able to do it, the inflationary pressures would wreck the economy. One last point, she is Pro-Palestinian and is antagonistic against the State of Israel. She has called for an arms embargo against Israel, yet many rich Jewish Americans support her. I tell people who would vote for her, "you might regret what you wish for" if you do.

I mean, this is one of those topics which are interesting but which you can’t really say much about. She hasn’t really formulated her own take on Ukraine yet.

Of course I don't like Zelenskyy. I love him. (Please don't tell anyone.) Not sure what that says about my emotional intelligence. And yes, I'm very aware of his shortcomings.

Do you follow Trump's tweets? They are more and more unhinged. Now he is declaring a coup took out Biden and there is a movement to bring him back. It's a complete break with reality. Vance's rallies have a bunch of empty seats and the Walz and Harris have packed rallies. I have hope now Walz culturally lines up perfectly with rural, working class America, which is my background. Trump mimics the long history Evangelical grifters that take a stronghold in the "Bible Belt", but hoard money and have bizarre sex problems. Walz feels like a neighbor, and I didn't expect him to have such charisma. That working class rural America went for Trump, shows that the feeling of acknowledgment means more than the details of policy. Trump's policies are against these people who are disenfranchised by the corporations. Yes, there is a shift to accept Walz' policies, but his cultural familiarity will mean more. This is a demographic mostly unacknowledged by the Left so far, so this is very important. This is at least my hope.

70-30 is absurd. Not even close. 50-50 maybe with the odds in Harris’s favor growing.

The extremity of the bias here for the Democrats is causing real distortions . Both Trump and Vance are distinguished people with real credentials. Biden has been a powerful rather independent senator for so long he had some real credentials too. Harris was a marginal law student. Vance is a graduate of Yale , not only that he had early support from one of his professors, he had a distinguished director Ron Howard direct the movie from his book ALL while hes under 40 . Its hard to see what the Minnesota governors credentials are hes a machine politician. An undistinguished college , an army career that doesnt achieve a senior officers rank , well its maybe good enough for an average citizen but not the leader of a republic like this one. Even Lincoln with his illiterate back woods father became a distinquished lawyer had litigated sucessfully for the McCormack patent one of the most important of the 1850s. He d held his breath and married the unmarriagble neurotic daughter of an elite family , trusting to his powers of self containment and self control. Kamelar and her Vp candidate are even remotely similar. And Europeans ESPECIALLY slavs have to get over their delusions of grandeur . Its no slight to say Russias not that important to America. It isnt. And i think Vance s dismissal of the Russian war is being dishonestly portrayed. The first foreign issue central to the USA ( and Canada and Mexico) is Venezuela and N Central America. Thats simply a fact , its the source of the border crisis , refugee crisis the Democrsts have tried to ssy isnt real. Kamela has worked with this and failed. The second foreign policy problem is Chinas economic attacks on America. Harris maybe will defend herself. But generally you people hate Trump because he dared to challenged sacred liberal cows like globalization and free trade. Vance is superior also because he is an investor and figure in silicone valley, opened doors for Trump. He will found an elite family that with in a hundred years will be related to all the others. The Democrats machine politicians are not that sort of persons... not at all.

If the blob is depoliticised, to the extent it is, the sanctions talk, guilt-blame-responsibility, that will go over their heads. Navalny had the correct first lever, the obvious corruption. People are interested when someone has taken their money.
