    I immediately questioned why Mendoza would pull Ottavino when he was pitching well and needed one out to end the inning. Perfect example with a manager making moves because he's thinking lefty on lefty is the correct move. Sometimes you just stick with the guy throwing well and stay away from a pitcher that's been an enigma for some time. Mendoza should wear the loss with Diekman. Neither of them did a bit of good for the team.

    This is a franchise that's always relied on strong pitching. It's painful to watch this year's version of the Mets. This staff is a patchwork of veteran castoffs. The crack babies' solution? More patches. I'll say it again: Great teams are built not bought. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see these young Nats raise the trophy before the Mets figure it out.

    My lord how bad is diekman ' all he needed was 1 out and he was ahead 0-2 ' the man is absolutely horrible why mendoza continues to use him is ridiculous ' mendoza doesn't know how to manage the bullpen ' got tought really well by Aaron Boone

    Welp, the hot streak seems to be over, as was bound to be the case, with a series loss to the Astros, and now a very disappointing split with the Nationals. Not only have the Mets failed to score in their last 13 innings, but they’ve had just one _hit_ in those 13 innings. Playing at 11am after a night game probably didn’t help, but they’ve now lost four of their last six. And now they have four in Pittsburgh, which is a tough place to hit, and they have to face Skenes and Keller (Jared Jones just went on the IL). This is the stretch they should be taking advantage of, but it doesn’t look like they will-in fact, it’s entirely possible that they _lose_ ground. The offense wasn’t going to hold up forever. It was fun while it lasted, but I suspect we’re seeing the last of several players as Mets. I hope I’m wrong, and I could take an optimistic view of things, but as life has taught me, optimism is for suckers.

    Diekman isn’t the problem. The pitching mis-management is. Wasted starts from Scott in the minors. Mgr is reactive & not proactive! 1 man short, but didn’t use options to minimize that time. Mets were lucky to get 5 innings & 1 run from Scott & results were better than a lot of the other Mets starts & 95% better than Megill w/ 5 2/3 innings & 4 runs. The nats took pitches straight down the middle. You, then have a taxed bullpen EVERY GAME!

    Please provide evidence for your claims of pitching mismanagement. What options should they have used?

  • @Mitchropolitan
    @Mitchropolitan6 сағат бұрын

    @@IdliAmin_TheLastKingofSambar I’m talking about the season. 1. On the president’s side1. Megill staying on the team instead of bringing back Scott, logging useless innings in the minors. and/or luchessi, buto or other minor league options & constantly putting the Mets behind & using the bullpen. 2. Not making use of the options to lessen the amount of time pitching with 1 man short. 3. Not going to openers & being more creative instead of burning through the bullpen. I have offensive choices made by management as well, but let’s stick to the pitching. Mendoza-1. continues with pitchers starters & relievers until they are clogging the bases like I said reactive & Not proactive. 2. Relying on the same unreliable relievers even though they continue to fail. 3. Sticking with Megill beyond the 5th inning in almost every outing & waits until there’s 2 men on base & then bring a reliever instead of giving them a clean inning. Sticking with Scott when he was gassed after the 4th & clearly didn’t have his best stuff. 4. Give diekman if there’s more than 1 lefty a clean inning. Only damage they could do is let the runner on or a solo home run, same for otavino if there’s more righties. If those are your “best option” look at their splits against righties & lefties. Management on & off the field has cost the Mets wins despite their amazing June.

    I SAID IT THAT THE METS NEED LEFTIES . THEY ARE MORE DIFFICULT TO HIT. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE LEFTY MUST FOCUS BETTER ON PITCH LOCATION. A BETTER FOLLOW THRU MOTION. GREAT EXAMPLES ARE JESSE OROSCO AND THE BIG UNIT RANDY ON A QUICK NOTE.

    The expanded playoffs are bad for Baseball because they encourage mediocrity. Too many teams are satisfied to just get a wildcard spot. The Mets are not the Pirates or Reds. They should be striving to build a championship caliber team. I'd love to see them trade Alonso and McNeil and get some young building blocks back. The Dodgers were able to land Mookie Betts, Tyler Glasnow and others because they had a deep farm system. That's how you build a champion

Thats not even thinkin of the homerun pitches & wild throws to bases he performs, I hope hes not coming in! This righty, lefty, stuffs gotta stop! Otto finally had it goin why take him out for Diekeman? We r throwin away sooooo many wins with most of these stiffs comin in fron the pen. I said it b4 the season started the pens gunna need relivers with high velos & control! For some reason Stearn let many gifted guys go due to lowball offers...WHY?

    This once was on the offense. They have one hit and no runs in their last 13 innings. They weren’t going to stay hot forever, and playing at 11am after a night game couldn’t have helped.

    I give Stearns some credit for signing some good position players, like Bader, Iglesias & Torrens, and moving out some bad players(Short, Wendle, Narvaez), and I don't blame him for trying to get McNeil going(owe him $38M). He is missing some obvious moves though. For example, when Diaz gets suspended, he should have immediately optioned Megill and brought up an arm, also he should have kept 2 lefties in the 'pen.

    Listen tough loss, Yes Dickman has to go and move on. However... U cant have it both ways. You been screaming from the roof tops about Scott Scott Scott as a MLB starter, he has the stuff and all this then cry because you want them to baby him..... Nah brother. If youre in youre in. Its not like he's coming off an injury. He's young, he's strong , he wants to pitch. To ask him to go 6 isnt a stretch. Garcia is a nice player and he crushed one. It happens. Bottom line is Dickman didnt do his job, he's been terrible, Otto is inconsistant and Diaz is the culprit for the 3rd time this season putting his team in a FKD up situation. 3 times already before the All Star break he has been the reason why this pen has been taxed amd used inappropriately. Lastly... When Senga is back my 5 will flat out be Senga, Sevy, Scott, Manaea, and Peterson. I'll put Quintana in the pen and as u said call up Joey. Dump Dickman and bring in an arm at the deadline. I also wouldnt be opposed to trading Gilbert or Clifford. This team can look so different next year, and if they have a run in them now, its important to try it. Theres a world where Pete, Jeff, JD, Bader, Manaea, Sevy, and several others arent here next year.... So.... dont waste this chance.
