The lithgow courthouse pub and bar used to be better than any nightclub in inner Sydney! Of course like with everything wild and good - its banned , closed or illegal now... house prices start at half a mill too these days in good 'ol liffy. Still love the town more than inner Syd!

I lived in Cobar for 3 years in the mid nineties. It was a good friendly town and I really enjoyed life there.

Thanks for this interesting video. My gggrandfather took out a selection on Mangrove Creek in what is now National park. He may even be buried there. I would like to find out where it is located.

Border Ranges NP is an awesome place!! They "say" this is the largest Red Cedar left which is FAR from the truth. SO many that are FAR bigger in close by Nightcap NP AND some on private property very close to nightcap.

It's tricky with trees. Sometimes the oldest are not the biggest. But you are right. Others have survived. Few, compared to how common they once were.

I’ve been to Cobar a few times. Slept in my car under a raging outback lightning n thunder storm after driving all day. Breakfast in the morning n off I went. Cobar was awesome

Passed through Cobar many times over the past forty + years. The longest I stayed was for a hamburger or a counter meal. After seeing this short piece I think I will spend a day to look around next time I am in the area.

This town is filled and fuelled with no character. Only drugs and murderers. Crystal kingdom, its a rip off. Or was. Miniland is dead and gone. Watch the Indigenous people gather around the court house on court days, now that's a real free circu show. Ohhh sorry, unless they hit ya up for money for a flagon which theyll throw in the river later on. The river is filled with bottles of flagons, beer bottles, and cheap wine apparently the indigenous people really dont care nor know how to care for the community. Drive straight through this blindsided town. Youre only missing out on the planet of the apes.

The railway divided the town in more ways than one. When WW2 finished, Catholic boys got their old railway jobs back in preference to the C of E boys like my dad.
