    You take Keane as a good example on how to have success. His KZread connects to his buyers and he runs 200-400 cards almost every night and starts everything at $1 and does "sudden death" auctions and he has built his brand and gets 60-100 people per night. But it's so much work, such a grind and 3-4 hours after in preparing shipping.

    In my opinion, even if they did detect a trace amount of something, that Wemby card is huge. PSA wants their name on cards like that. I doubt they would ever decertify it knowing how big the card is for the hobby and their reputation

    I can make profit off a whole submission without getting any PSA 10's... it's all about the specific cards that are graded and know what collector's have an interest in. Find a niche and get really good at knowing how those sets grade then expand.

    I ordered cards over a period of about two-weeks, then hit the 'weigh all' button, and it took about a month to get my shipment weighed and then another month before it was sent, and then another week before it arrived. All in, I got the cards 2.5-3 months after I won them in auction. That being said, in my recent purchase, they got it to weighing my package within about a week, so they may be speeding up.

    Keep in mind, the only one who earns money for sure is PSA, with grading fees more then double of CGCs, it is unlikely that they do not earn a pretty fortune.

    As tempting as it is to move everything to COMC I just can’t get past the fact that after I pay all the fees to list and sell my cards that I then am charged another 10% to get my cash. That’s absolutely wild imo when many consignment sellers will do an ACH payment free into your checking or savings account.

  • @scoa
    @scoa11 күн бұрын

    Yeah, I could understand that. I did make a video awhile back that looked at the actual fee structure with concrete examples and what I found was that all things added in, the amount COMC takes in the end and the amount eBay takes in the end almost evened themselves out, especially if you do a handful of listings with eBay promotions. I personally use a good amount of my COMC sales to buy other cards as well (either for my pc or to flip on the platform or to flip to sell elsewhere), in which case they don't take that 10%. But I do understand what your saying, that cash-out fee ain't my fav.

    I'm actually not sure, now that I think about it. All I can say is that from my experience, I've had 4-5 shipments, valued from maybe $750 at the low end to about $2K at the high end, and I've never had to pay any customs fees. But I'm not actually sure what they are declaring when they ship it off.

    I don't have any of the sources on hand I was using when making this video 2 years ago. But I kind of remember the humidity issue being related to cards that had never been opened, and were in their plastic packaging, which would prevent humidity from reaching the card, have many times still ended up being hulked out versions of the card when first opened.

    I came back to the hobby late into the downturn. Looking at things from a prospective of the 90s.. I see alot of similarities, but with a great amount more risk. I buy a few graded vintage cards, but it's way too volatile for me. The place I tend to focus is buying collections in bulk. Then at least after the work you have value for your efforts.

  • @scoa
    @scoa28 күн бұрын

    Collections in bulk can definitely be a good way to go. Definitely needs a lot of time though! I bought one massive collection a few months back and ended up basically just reselling it as a bulk collection again just because it was taking so much time to go through.

  • @davidmillschills
    @davidmillschills29 күн бұрын

    Wow, you are really picky. 9 graded cards as the upper limit to keep in your collection is really tight. Good for you. Currently I am doing "pregrading" for $9 with CGC. that gives me more than 2x the chance than going directly to PSA. Totally agree, thicker cards are harder to grade, but that also goes with black or darker borders.

  • @scoa
    @scoa28 күн бұрын

  • @scoa
    @scoaАй бұрын

    Oh man, I really don't know the answer to that question. I actually don't buy a whole lot of sealed wax myself, tend to just aim for singles. It seems the general knowledge spread is to aim for hobby instead of retail, in general, if you are going to rip wax, but I really don't know for sure. When I open packs, it tends to be blaster boxes, but that's just because I rarely open them and just do it occasionally for a fun experience with no expectation for getting much monetary value out of it type of thing.

    @@tradernottraitor2731 Welcome to the subscriber team! I don't have any strong thoughts on fat packs, I do think there tends to be a lot of base cards in there, which isn't necessarily what I'm looking for. Prizm in generall this year, I'm not too keen on for packs. In both basketball and football, so many of the best young rookies have exclusive autograph contracts with Fanatics, so they can't be found in Panini products. To me, that brings down the ceiling of those packs by a really significant amount. And I'm not such a fan of parallels, so it makes it hard to be excited about much of anything in there.
