COMC Live Auctions are Becoming Worse for Sellers

Ойын-сауық

I've sold 1000 cards through COMC's eBay Live Auctions over the past 3 months. Let's take a look at how this is going.

    People not paying on ebay in any form is a problem. Theres no reason there shouldnt be a card on file that gets auto billed. Even whatnot does this.

    Did you see COMc doing 25 percent off submission promotion for standard until June 17. You should take advantage the offer

    That was an informative video. I still cannot find the live stream auctions but it seems like from your video, I am not missing much.

    If you have the patience to find the hidden gems in the streams, you can find some really good deals as a buyer. If I was to give anyone advice at the moment about the live auctions, that's probably where I'd point people to look. It's only accessible on the app though, can't get to it through a desktop/laptop.

    Always interesting hearing your thoughts on these. I found that when they went to the mixer auctions it really hurt my profits. I'm not sure comc really has any motivation to put in the extra work to go back to sport specific streams since they get their money upfront and not from what the card actually sells for. I think that the opportunity these days is to buy on these if you have the patience to follow the streams and not necessarily sell. Keep up the quality content!

    Yeah, I definitely agree with all you say here for sure. I just don't have the time or patience to be in those streams too often. I have got a couple of steals when I have been there though

    wouldn't it be cheaper to auction stuff on your own eBay account and ship with eBay standard envelope?

  • @scoa

    @scoa

    I do some ebay standard envelope stuff too. Though not auctions, I don't like auctioning on ebay, I don't get enough views on my posts and auctions always seem to do horrible there for me. But I do plenty of buy it now stuff on ebay. It just takes a lot more time.

    Thank you for posting this. I buy and sell on COMC and didn't know this existed. I am an addict of WhatNot and pretty much everything you said applies there, especially when it comes to distracted auctioneers. Have you purchased at all on COMC Live and what fees as a buyer to move the winning cards into your COMC store?

  • @scoa

    @scoa

    Ай бұрын

    There are no fees to have whatever you buy moved into your comc store. You just have to make sure your comc and eBay accounts are linked (the same way they are linked for buying from regular 7 day auctions). Then you buy live auctions with comc credit.

    @@scoa Thank you for your response. I spent 30 minutes watching just now and was shocked. You are correct, amateurs. The bidders were paying way beyond what they could buy it directly from COMC. One Crosby card sold for $6.04 and they are on COMC for $1.09. I would say of the thirty cards I saw auctioned off, they paid on average twice (and more) the asking price if they bought it directly from COMC. Just crazy. Of course, I am a WhatNot buying guy who searches for small rooms with 20 or less people and this live stream attracted almost 700 people. Just crazy.

    This is great feedback. I notice it’s harder to sell than a few months ago. eBay live is so behind whatnot on mini auctions. How easy would it be to bid on your own cards? Do they block you? I fear lots of shilling in micro auctions. Am I wrong?

  • @scoa

    @scoa

    I think shill bidding in these could happen a lot. There's no guard, really.

    junky cards, unprofessional auctioneers, mixed sport auction, let's be real that sounds like lazyness from ComC over all and does sound like that format won't make it much longer. The addition of fee on fee with ComC starts getting on my nerve anyway. If you need to pay fees for cards not paid for that is a definite sign of money grab from ComC. thanks for sharing

    I'm hoping they learn and make progress. I feel like for the first few months, they are making steps forward regularly, but it feels like they kinda stopped reflecting and learning as they were going forward. Comc does make changes with things over time, I just hope this is a space they make some changes with. I don't think it's s big priority for their overall business right now though. I do have to say though, I still like comc as a company overall, and I have seen them make positive changes on things here and there in other areas. As long as they are actually regularly reflecting on this area of their business, I think eventually it'll improve. I just don't know if it's much of a priority area for the company at the moment

    @@scoa I still have a small handful of cards on there but I had most shipped back to me. Between fee's, very slow shipping and processing I had enough. My auctions never ended well and lost way more than I care to admit but I never tried the live auctions.
