Excellent recap. I firmly believe that not teaching her how to handle that car is what actually killed her. Taking my own mom's car on late night drives and occasionally my dad's is how I learned the basics of car handling and physics in general. Granted, my parents cars weren't as powerful as this aforementioned Porsche, but the principles and dynamics are still the same. You don't teach people how to handle cars at high speed unless you gradually introduce high speed into your instruction. That's when you learn about things like moments of inertia, oversteer, under steer, lift throttle drifting, and the like. I believe that, coming from an affluent family, she probably was smart enough to have grasped these concepts.
James had a passenger named, Rolf Wütherich. He survived the accident & developed many personal difficulties as a result of the crash Tragically, 26 years after surviving the crash, he was in a second crash back in his home country of West Germany. The second one was not so fortunate for him. He died in 1981 while drunk after he signed a contract for 20,000 Deutsche Marks for a feature TV show about him discussing the death of James Dean. Like James, he too had to be cut from the wreck. He was 53
A vehicle that rare and costing that much, on nine year old tires with a questionable wear pattern. The speed of the vehicle is the only final factor needed. By the way, impact speed was above ninety miles per hour. They also almost took out a secondary car not long before this accident

I just watched the movie again and cried. I cant stop thinking about him 20 years later. Such a huge tragedy. Does anyone think maybe Brando wanted to end his life? He seemed so happy about being drafted. I've watched real footage of him. It doesnt make sense that he clipped a semi, and then swerved back again. Unless he was incredibly tired, i would think the adrenaline from the clip would have woke him up for a bit, or at least caused him to pull over and gather his self. Sadly, we will never know until we meet up in heaven. How i would have loved watching him with the Colts, that was my favorite team. He was so handsome and an amazing young man.

Watching this makes me very sad, it is SO easy to flip a vehicle! I flipped my in 1988 after a moron pulled off to the shoulder about 4 cars in front of me and then decided to turn left onto the road and I nearly hit him head on and landed in a downhill field! AND I was playing a gig that night drummer here too. RIP Cozy!

There... Didn't there have to be a Stop for the other to stop? I don't see it... I see that intersection as very dangerous and poorly signposted. That devilish triangle on the ground looks like one of those rest areas in Seville and it doesn't seem very advisable to stop. For me, the one who had to be judged was the one who devised that road like that, it makes no sense, plus it is preceded by a continuous white line, which can make Dean or anyone else confuse that the other is going to continue facing his home. That crossing is a legalized violation, I don't understand it. Having put a traffic light. Or better yet, leave that crossing fenced off and put plants in the middle and leave the path straight. The road lines are confusing. Was what this man did legal if he stopped and let Dean pass? I just don't even see where I was going. Is that a crossover?

The average tire life is 5 years. It's strange to have such old tires on such an expensive car, with such an old tire and a powerful car combination, an accident was probably inevitable.

Custom Coupe...not a Tudor model.....Collison at CA. RT 466/41 Junction is depicted in error.....Porsche at impact flipped up 90 degrees and over in mid air...landing on it wheels on the shoulder of 466...not in the field...Turnupseed's 1950 Ford at impace was pushed backwards and remained on the westbound portion of the highway 45 feet from the impact site.
