BeamNG Drive - Tim Horton Car Crash

Ойындар

Hello everyone! Watch my new video - BeamNG Drive - Tim Horton Car Crash.
Thanks to everyone who liked and subscribed!💕
To Gen Xers, Millennials and those younger, Tim Hortons is just the name of a popular doughnut and coffee chain throughout Canada and the northern United States, even though there’s over 4,800 restaurants of them in 14 countries around the world.
However, Baby-boomers will remember the actual man - a long-time Toronto Maple Leaf stay-at-home, strong-as-an-ox defenceman, who was a stalwart with the squad over four Stanley Cups in the 1960s.
But on February 21, 1974, that all came to a crashing end when Horton, then a Buffalo Sabres at the age of 44, was driving home to Buffalo after a game against the Leafs and lost control of his De Tomaso Pantera sports car, doing a speed of over 160 km/h (100 mph).
Horton, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, flew out the passenger door, landing nearly 25 metres away. The police pursuing him were the first on scene and Horton was pronounced dead-on-arrival at the hospital.
In 2017, Horton was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in history.

I learned that fact in the weirdest way, my mother took me to a rock n roll bar she had found when I was around 9, but didn't know it was punk night, so we had dinner listening to guys beat on stuff to the leader screaming "DEF LEPPARD'S DRUMMER'S ONLY GOT ONE ARM!"

That’s because it has been modeled incorrectly. He didn’t hit a bridge support. He went into the median at 100 mph, hit a culvert and the car started flipping. Still should have had his belt on, though.

This bears no resemblance to anything. The scenery and road signs are clearly American. Horton’s car did not hit a bridge. The highway at that time was 2 lanes each way with a grass median in the middle. Horton went wide on a turn and put a tire into the median. This ripped the axle right off the car. It then hit a drainage culvert and started tumbling. He would have been between the bridges at Ontario St. and Lake St. He didn’t hit either of them. All the events took place late at night, not in daylight.

I remember this so well, as it happened when I was in high school. On a side note, it was forty eight years ago, so the cars used in this reenactment are a bit older than 1974, unless I REALLY am that old now. It was a very sad day and few days in Buffalo when this happened. Also of note, but not excusing - at all - the alcohol which not doubt contributed to the crash, but Horton was also on painkillers as he had a nasty injury on his cheek from being injured in a shot in practice a couple of days earlier. That could have make him think he could drive. Why knows?

He stopped. The Leaf game ended maybe 9:30-9:45. Horton didn’t play the third period because he’d taken a puck to the jaw in practice. He talked to Dave Keon after the game and headed out. Paperwork and phone calls at the office in Oakville and then he hit the road. Probably left near 3:30 AM if he’s doing 100mph in St. Catharine’s at 4:00.

@@CRASHSimulation Take your time, your videos awnser a lot of questions about these accidents. The Anne Heche accident will be interesting, since she was not able to be rescued from the car for sometime as it became imbedded into the side of the house. Her burns were extensive (and fatal) because of that. Plus firefighters had no idea someone was still in the car from what I read.
