Certain instruments like saxophone, harmonica, flute, mandolin for me personally cannot be overused or too intrusive in rock music; it also boils down to how it’s used and the tone, style, etc. I love Bowie’s use of saxophone but not a big fan of when UFO uses it. Love the way Robert Plant used the harmonica not so much with Springsteen and Dylan. Thanks for watching
Great video! Bowie uses lots of sax-it was one of his first instruments!
My top 5 Bowie albums 1. Hunky Dory (1971) 2. Rise & Fall Of Ziggy Stardust (1972) 3. Lodger (1979) 4. Let's Dance (1983) 5. Blackstar (2016)
When this album came out it was listed as a “raging snarling comeback “ I too didn’t like NITR.
1. Stained Class (1978) 2. Sin After Sin (1977) 3. Sad Wings of Destiny (1976) 4. Painkiller (1990) 5. Defenders of the Faith (1984) 6. Screaming for Vengeance (1983) 7. Invincible Shield (2024) 8. Killing Machine (1979) 9. Firepower (2018) 10. Redeemer of Souls (2014) 11. Rocka Rolla (1974) 12. Point of Entry (1981) 13. Angel of Retribution (2005) 14. Jugulator (1997) 15. British Steel (1980) 16. Turbo (1986) 17. Ram it Down (1988) 18. Demolition (2001) 19. Nostradamus (2008) Also, I love how you’re so brutal and savage against some of these albums but still maintain your soft and timid voice, it’s hilarious and brilliant and wonderful! Cheers! 🍻
Stonehenge w/ the band member images within it......
Done With Mirrors was the last album I bought. Their stuff in the late 80's was terrible. Ragdoll, Love in an Elevator., Dude Looks Like a Lady I first saw Aerosmith in 1979 when I was a sophomore in high school just before Perry left. I saw The Joe Perry Project in 1980 and Aerosmith 2 more times in 1983 (w/ Dufay and Crespo) and 1984 when Perry and Whitford returned for the Back in The Saddle tour. My favorite album by them is Draw The Line.
My favorite is Rocks but Draw the Line is damn good!
Nice list. Straight and to the point. No filler.
Sorry I misspoke, Shrunken Heads came out in 2007. 2001 wouldn’t make sense (my arthritic handwriting😂) since the song about Hurricane Katrina on the album is two years after the storm. The storm hit in 2005.
😉💗👍
The first time I even heard of this band was in my youtube side recommends while listening to the full Paranoid album at work. It autoplayed into "Fresh Fur" right as the album finished, and let me tell you, the transition between the two felt so natural I almost didn't notice until I heard Pinkerton's vocals! I checked them out and instantly fell in love with the band and style. I hope for a great career for them.
Thanks 😊
Great video. I guess when you put yourself out there with your music opinions you’re gonna get people who don’t know how to disagree constructively, not that it was their intention to be constructive in the first place. I appreciate your opinions and they always get people thinking!
Good on you for the occasional Swans endorsements. They are such a singular, wonderful entity of music. Saw them for the first time about a month ago, spectacular.
Thanks for watching. 😊
I failed to mention how when I listen to my number one in this list especially the album that came out in 81, I feel like I’m 14 again.
Reviews are autobiographical.
I’m not sure what you mean by that
That was cool .In my humble opinion Powerslave is the number 1 .Rime of the Ancient Mariner is so epic .But I really love Piece of Mind since Where eagles dare is such a powerful opening track (also one of the best war movies ever made ,I've seen it many times).I love Maiden for so many reasons and two are really important for me they're dedicated to music and respectful towards their fans and they are not shy about their Prog leanings
Mob Rules RULES !
Not a big fan of the remix, it sounds harsh to me. The new remaster is much better imo
Are you glad you bought it?
I've always been annoyed by this cliché of prog rock musicians lacking soul because they have chops.Naturally some prog bands do not resonate in me but when you can play don't be shy
really interesting video many thanks ,for me Prog Rock has the edge because it has in my humble opinion a dreamy side Punk lacks.I've always been a dreamer and Prog Rock is perfect for me .I've always favoured skills over attitude that's why I love musicians like Steve Hackett or John Mc Laughlin
Thanks for sharing!
I"m an oder guy that didn't happen onto Doom/Stoner until later in life. Like you I really enjoy Sleep & Electric Wizard, but wanted to add a couple of bands who I feel are really underrated: 1. Fu Manchu - Stoner with a tinge of Funk underneath. 2. Clutch - Their early albums are straight up Stoner classics. 3. Unida - A break-off of Kyuss. Check out the album 'Coping with the Urban Coyote'. Very hard to find but worth the search. 4. Nebula - Ex Fu Manchu guitarist breaks off his chunk of Stoner/Psychedelia.
I have some Fu Manchu in MP3 and yes they are quite good. I have a couple of Nebula albums: Heavy Psych and Holy Sh;t. I have Unida and Double Dozer in MP3 too that a friend burned for me. Quite good too. I’ve tried but I could never get into Clutch.
I disagree with at least 50% of your comments.
Well of course that’s going to happen. If everyone agreed on everything, life would be very boring indeed.
Totally agree on your stance. Very rare to find this on YT.
Been listening to the album non stop for 4 days. A debut masterpiece in my opinion. Black Sabbath meets Jefferson Airplane. Riley Pinkerton is dripping with charisma.
I’m pretty sure High On Fire don’t care about image; it’s totally about playing heavy doom metal. Thanks for watching! When I was a teen I had the Motörhead bullet belt, the spiked arm bands similar to Bruce Dickinson, even a mullet at one point. Cheers!
Valid points. I was a normal metal kid as a teen through 80's. Early 80's I got bullied a lot because I had long hair and Hanoi Rocks shirt. When I went to punk gigs that were for all ages and nobody didn't ever mention about my looks. They accepted me as I were. Going to punk shows every weekend made me love punk rock and hardcore music so much that I had bit over 10 year period when I mostly listened punk. I know Ghost has a shtick but I love that band. I love High On Fire but their image doesn't interest me. Ghost writes pop tunes with 80's metal guitar and wear masks. Usually bands like that doesn't interest me at all. I do love Kiss though and it was album cover for Creatures Of The Night that made me buy it. Image was a thing for me in 80's but after being into punk for so long image isn't a thing for me anymore. Oh and though I am punk rocker at heart forever I really love bands like King Crimson, Pink Floyd Ozric Tentacles, Gong and few others. Wigwam is a prog band I like but they were Finnish so not many know them but I do like them a lot. Hope this makes even some sense. Good video again! Cheers!
I really like your choices. Seems like you're more of a Point Of Entry fan than most. I enjoy that album as well. I only saw Judas Priest one time in my life. 1986 Turbo show w/Dokken opening up. The first JP album I ever heard was Hell Bent For Leather. My best friend's older brother had just bought it and turned us on to it in '79. JP are one of my top 5 bands. I've been creating a list of my favs too. My first list was just to pick 10 songs. That's so hard to do. Think after watching your vid, I'll try 25 songs. Thx for sharing! Gonna check out your top albums from Priest.
I saw them live for Defenders of the Faith Tour with Great White opening. Was truly amazing. Yes I don’t get the hate many give to Point of Entry considering side one is phenomenal. Thanks for watching.
Classy video. I respect your integrity.
I appreciate that
A Light in the Black was played live a few times in Japan. There's recordings in KZread
Thanks for sharing that info. Too bad none of them made their way to a live album.
Great episode. Very interesting. It’s all about the music. I never understood why somebody needs 10 copies of Physical Graffiti or Back In Black.
CASTLE RAT LIVES!! 🐀🤘
It's slightly off-topic, but Absent Lovers live slbum improves on some tracks from Beat and TOAPP I would put Discipline in my top 3 but each to their own.. Interesting video.
Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats have released album called "Wasteland" ( 2018 )after Night Creeper. They also reissued their first album called Vol 1 ( 2017). Finally High On Fire gets some love! Cometh The Storm is my favorite metal album this year so far. Cheers from Finland!
I have everything by Uncle Acid; great band. They have a new album coming out in about a week or so. I preordered it from Amazon. I love High On Fire. New album is fantastic. I have a video where I rank all High On Fire, Sleep, and Matt Pike’s solo album. I’m fascinated by Finnish culture. A wonderful people and culture. Cheers!
Enjoyed the episode, you made some good points. We have a relative in our family who's a hoarder. They have now reached an age where they have to move out of their home to a smaller residence but won't part with anything, it all has to go with them, It's destressing because it's going to turn into a major drama.
I’m sorry to hear about that; I will pray for them. Blessings to you and your family.
I’m planning to do a video at some point on the live material that is worth having.
🐸👍
Great video. They haven’t recorded a studio effort with their current touring band, which still has Tony Levin, Mel Collins, three drummers, Fripp, and Jacko Jaszek on guitar and vocals. So good-definitely check out their recent live “bootlegs”
1)diary of a madman 2)blizzard of oz 3)sabbath bloody sabbath 4)sabotage 5)heaven and hell 6)the mob rules 7)bark at the moon 8)holy diver 9) the last in line 10)vol 4 11)master of reality 12)paranoid 13)rising 14)technical extacy 15) never say die I seem to be the only one who likes the last 2 lol- cheers
Interesting list. Thanks for posting it and sharing.😀
Cool list. I'd rank the HOF albums like this, least favorite to most favorite - #9 Electric Messiah; #8 Luminiferous; #7 Cometh the Storm; #6 Snakes for the Divine, #5 Death is this communion, #4 De Vermis, #3 The Art of Self Defense, #2 Blessed Black Wings, #1 Surrounded by Thieves. I love them most when they sound like a sludgy, fuzzed out Celtic Frost. And I agree that Abusive is one of the best things Matt has ever done, he should play that live with HOF.
Thanks. I hope to get back to that maybe even as soon as this weekend. Had to put that on the back burner for a little while.
Great video! Speaking of blends, looking forward to the next coffee and jazz segment!
Very comprehensive list. A handful of bands you mentioned that I didn't know, or knew very little about them. Quite a while back I had made a similar list but including other styles of music; never wrote any of it down, it's in my head, so will have to sort it an then come back and post just the rock stuff.
Cool, thanks!
I disagree with everything. Great video! I love this.thank you,Firepower does nothing for me. Nostradamus is a top 10 record however.
Thanks for sharing!
I absolutely love this album. Riley Pinkerton has put in the work. I saw videos of her playing folk music as a solo artist eight years ago. They deserve all the fame coming their way.
I agree with your order of Iron Maiden albums. I am in close agreement with your order of Scorpions albums. I like Point of Entry, not a fan of Nostradamus. So hard to rank these bands together.
So true. It’s a fun exercise though. Have a blessed weekend.
Not happy with the remix version, but I love the remaster it sounds pristine
It’s so great to have. The only really worthwhile musical part of the set. Thanks for commenting. 😊
It's very arousing. 😂 Great review. Gonna pick this up.
Hope you enjoy it!

That would eliminate my 28-30 selections.
Listening to The Final Frontier while compiling this list. I honestly feel like it could be much higher on my list. Maybe as far up as 17???!!! Very underrated album. I hated it when it came out but, I threw it in Audacity and took the 4:35 Satellite 15... intro off. IT's a banger without that handicapping the opening of the album.
