    As someone who also struggled with social anxiety since I was a child, I can say that the only way (for me at least) to fight it or relieve it, is to go THROUGH it and go to social events and talk to new people and take the courage to be out there. I started doing that this year after intense feelings of loneliness for years and years... And after a few months, I can already feel and see the difference. My heart pounds less, my thoughts circle less, my shaking is less bad too, overall my anxiety is more ''Tamed'' because by doing the very thing you are afraid of or anxious about, you are slowly teaching your body and mind that it is not ''Dangerous'' and that you are safe, because anxiety is basically about anticipating danger or risk. My therapist has been helping me, but all the work has been done by myself for finally going out there and trying. I'll be honest, the first few times were HORRIBLE. But it gets better with practice, and now I go to certain social gatherings without any anxiety and it is SOOOO WORTH IT!! You go girl. <3

    I definitely can relate to the social anxiety . I also haven't had many friends throughout my life and it's hard to put yourself out there. The friendships that i have established over the years (i'm 26 btw) are with people who have the same interests as me (reading , nerdy shit) i met them online for me it's easier that way to start a conversation instead then irl . A personal goal of mine is uploading again on my KZread, i feel like because im dutch and i film in English i am not good enough but i just need to do it because i really want to. Even though its giving me so much anxiety. Anyways i love your personality and your content and i am so glad youre back. You just feel like a friend i've never met 🩷🩷

    i actually just read where the crawdads sing and my copy was from a used bookstore so i also didn’t support the author lol. i think it’s worth checking out if you have it? but yeah the author is kinda whack but the plot of the book is kinda fitting for her lmao. i have some issues with the book but i found the main characters story and relationship to others and to books/nature to be more compelling then the actual plot

    3:47 I reread The Hunger Games original trilogy recently and in the 25th Hunger Games/1st Quarter Quell districts were voting for tributes! I pulled out my UK copy to quote (chapter 12 for anyone interested) ""On the twenty-fifth anniversary, as a reminder to the rebels that their children were dying because of their choice to initiate violence, every district was made to hold an election and vote on the tributes who would represent it." I wonder how that would felt. Picking the kids who had to go. It is worse, I think, to be turned over by your own neighbours than have your name drawn from the reaping ball"

    Great theories Peyton 👍 I'm super excited for another book. I'll have to reread the books...again for like the hundredth time! And if memory serves me correctly I think for the 1st quarter quell they went by a voting system where the other district members would have to pick who goes the games. That would make a good book too in the series, where the Capitol makes all the district members hate and betray each other in order to maintain control over them.

  • @PeytonReads

    Hmm I always though that Lucy Gray was counted as one of the victors. The capitol doesn't broadcast the 10th games or anything but I imagine there's some sort of official list that at least has like 'district 12 girl won 10th games'. But idk maybe not. I'd really like to get the point of view of the district 1 girl or any career really and see how their minds work. If I had to bet money I think we might get multiple povs

  • @julianascimento641
    @julianascimento64120 күн бұрын

    I thought Suzanne Collins had confirmed that Lucy Gray was the 4th (or first, depends on how you look lol) District 12 victor. You do make a good point about keeping records because iirc Katniss mentions that they read the names of former victors every year at the reaping. So... do they still call out her name every year anyways and wouldn't that piss off Snow every year? lol

  • @PeytonReads
    @PeytonReads20 күн бұрын

    I’ll have to see in my reread how they speak about Lucy Gray and the past victors again. And I also think multiple POV’s could be a legitimate option!

    My theory that I will protect with my life is that the perspective of the new novel will be of a career, who is spoon fed propaganda and the illusion of false hope and real vs not real with the honour of winning just for Haymitch to win in a way that breaks the rules and makes the career realise (similar to Cato) that everything was a lie.

  • @PeytonReads
    @PeytonReads20 күн бұрын

    i definitely think we’ll see outside of the hunger games in this book. in the interview she did with associated press she mentioned she wanted to explore ideas of implicit submission and propaganda with this new book so i think that haymitch’s final kill will be a big deal in the book since it was viewed as an act of rebellion. i’m also curious to see how they’ll treat his win in the hunger games, will he be considered the first district 12 victor since snow most likely erased everything about lucy gray decades previously? since she isn’t named in the main series i feel like she may almost be a rumor in district 12 only, given how little the districts know of each other. this video is what i needed to re-fuel my hunger games info dumps to my friends and coworkers so thank you lol

  • @PeytonReads
    @PeytonReads21 күн бұрын

    It’s definitely a big possibility. A feel Haymitch being our POV character may be too obvious. Agh I’m just itching for another announcement!! I am always sort of making excuses for Gale, since he also was just a traumatized teenager and I don't like to compare people in a sense: He went through so and so and didn't do/say/think so and so BUT the one thing I can never ever excuse is his reaction after Katniss wanted to escape from 12. Like he was all down for the escape when he thought that it would be just him and her and their families, but then completely switched when she said that Haymitch and Peeta are coming too, since the capitol would literaly torture them to death of they didn't. Get over yourself mate. This isn't about Katniss and her romance, this is about survival. Peeta would've died a horrible death bcs of Gale's butthurt selfish ass. And then Peeta was like: Oh, we are running away? Cool. Gale too? Ok, I don't think we really are leaving but whatever you say Katniss. When should I be ready?
