I bought a different product. Mine installed on the harness below the on off switch and took 3 minutes. Not dissing this product but this seems overly complicated compared to my 3 min install.

The reason why we use the additional 12v and a few extra steps on installing is It’s stable and reliable power that is protected by a fuse. The “other” brand modules are performing a very risky operation. Using the power inline at the switch only can result in severe damage to your gauge control unit if the module were to fail or short circuit internally. Also the inline power is not consistent in every scenario and this can lead to the idle stop NOT being turned off sometimes. On our module, we make sure to only attach to a fused power source to prevent and protect your vehicle from any possible failure damage. At worst if the idlestopper failed or shorted internally, the 12v fuse would blow (easily replaced) and not your gauge module unit (cost would be in the thousands $$) . The last thing we’d want is to cause ANY possible damage or problems to your new vehicle. The “other” (Chinese) companies do not care about long term or consistent operations and do not fully protect your vehicle. They are more worried about selling you a product cheaply and then disappearing if you ever have an issue or have any problems with your product. The idlestopper is made with only quality vetted name brand parts, is built and assembled in the USA and we stand behind our product 100%. We provide a consistent, reliable product that will in NO possible way cause issues with your vehicle and will work EVERY TIME.

Will this one work for the passport 2020 it has the same connection if not why do you need to tap into the 12v?

This one will not work for the 2020 Passport. The Passport requires the separate 12v power connection. The wiring between the vehicles is very different and not swappable unfortunately

The included pry bar is junk , throw it away. I ended up damaging the trim piece because it was in so tight, wholly crud. But once off the shifter trim gave me almost as much grief. Sheesh. I used the included pry bar and broke it 3 times, really. Other tools to the rescue. The installation literally took 2 minutes. That initial trim took about an hour OMG. The gloss black trim is horrible so I might look at replacing it with the Trail sport trim on the Black Edition. Now that it works, one less thing to think about after starting. The trim clips got a little saddle soap for lube. Waiting for mail lady to show up with S-VCM hopefully an easier install.

Works as advertised except for the installation. I have all the plastic body clip tools and it was still a PIA. The plastic tool they put in the kit is a waste of time so throw it in the trash or you will be very frustrated. For the money they charge they could get a decent panel tool to use. Go very slowly and if you have a tablet or laptop to watch as you work it will help unless your memory is better than mine. I almost forgot to plug the led light in the shifter housing so double check before you lock it in place. There are a couple of other methods to turn the light off but this one is cleaner IMHO but pricey for what you get albeit they have the only kit. I agree with many of the others at the end of the day it is cheaper than the potential worn out parts to be replaced later. The little bit of gas that you may save is not worth it, if gas is an issue than buy a bicycle. I hope they make one for my 2024 Lexus RX350.

I hated the jerkiness of the stop-start when at a light.. all I could see was the dollar signs of future dollar repairs every time it happened. So I decided to purchase this & finally got some time set aside to install it. A few good pointers.. the pry tool supplied broke under little pressure.. luckily I had a metal one (it has a screwdriver handle) with an “elbow” on it & a ball on the elbow from a trim removal kit via Amazon, this was way better.. used it with a microfiber cloth under it to pry the 1st piece off in front of the center console.. I was very apprehensive on doing this piece do it bending a lot while prying it up! Prying up the cup holder was easy.. used the same tool on that & so was the smartphone charger. I am very happy with this product & would recommend it to anyone.. it works as advertised! Thanks guys @ IdleStopper! ✌🏼

Just installed this in my 2020. Like others have said, the hardest part for me was working around the factory power connector. Stubborn connectors, tight space, and you can't really see what you're doing. Aside from that, piece of cake. Thanks for this video and this product!

  • @idlestopper7486

It’s most likely due to stitched video. The Pilot and ridgeline share the same console and process. One video shot may have been better than another and since our time using these vehicles to shoot the video is limited, we use the best footage available. Good eye though!

Sorry to hear that you are having troubles with the connection coming loose. Some of them seem to be tighter than others. I would suggest to try while sitting in the passenger seat at a different angle. The other suggestion would be to focus on wiggling the connection while pulling in the off direction. With the tab pressed down, wiggle a few times up and down and side to Side, then start pulling while still holding the tab. If you need a reference for the release tab location and feel, the idlestopper module has the exact same factory connector. I hope you get it! Also make sure to wrap a towel around the opening so you don’t cut your arm on the under dash area.

@@idlestopper7486 Will give that a shot. I felt like I was wiggling it pretty hard but it's hard to tell if I have the tab pushed down enough to unlatch.

I agree with others that I was not able to remove the final trim panel at the 4:24 mark. I used about 12 inches of spare wire I had laying around and fished it down through the opening and then taped the plug to the end of the wire and pulled it back up and through. The plug was a bit too big to pull through the opening. I considered using a dremel tool to make the opening a bit bigger, but I was able to just take one of my plastic trim removal tools and move plastic near the opening just enough to pass the plug through. I spent over an hour trying to remove that last panel unsuccessfully, but the wire method took about 3 minutes. Don't waste your time trying to remove that panel and risk breaking a clip! The wireless charging panel was also a bit hard to remove but did eventually come out after several attempts. The other pieces were easy to remove.

Will this void any of the warranty ?

  • @idlestopper7486
    @idlestopper7486Ай бұрын

Thanks for your interest in our product! The Idlestopper will NOT void your full warranty, the manufacturer isn’t allowed to void your entire warranty for the use of aftermarket parts legally because of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act law that was passed in 1975. Here is a link to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) website explaining this as well: consumer.ftc.gov/articles/auto-warranties-and-auto-service-contracts#:~:text=Facts%20About%20Auto%20Warranties,-You%20don't&text=In%20fact%2C%20it's%20illegal%20for,use%20repair%20facilities%20it%20chooses. At most, the dealer could deny a warranty diagnosis/repair claim on the connected to parts as they are connected directly to the idlestopper device. All other vehicle systems and parts would still be fully protected under your normal warranty and cannot be affected by you installing the module into your vehicle. The Idlestopper does not reprogram or change any vehicle settings. It simply presses the off button for you. Aftermarket parts are a normal part of the industry and manufacturers know it. Customers use many after market parts on their NEW vehicles: -Phone and usb adapters -drive cameras -radar scanners -wiper blades -tires -wheels These are just a few of the things that, by the above standard, can technically “void” parts of your warranty in a similar fashion to the idlestopper. Example; If a phone charger adapter that you got from eBay shorts out and damages your power socket or fuse in your car then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs needed. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage to that specific repair. Example; If the Idlestopper shorts out and blows the power socket fuse in your vehicle then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage for that specific repair. Example; If you put aftermarket tires and wheels on your new car and have issues with balance or vibration then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs if they are needed to the wheels or tires. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage for that specific repair. Hope this helps!

FISHING WIRE SUGGESTION, Definitely use a flashlight from the bottom to see where the wire needs to go down. It goes toward the engine at the top and comes out at the bottom on the front (engine) side of the metal frame. I tried for 20 minutes looking on the wrong side, thinking there was no path. The instructions were excellent, I failed to use the flashlight trick.

It’s out of the way and will be unaffected by software updates or any repairs. The module would not even be noticeable unless it was somehow causing a problem to occur in your vehicle. Also, one simple trick to “disable” the idlestopper module is to remove the 12v console power socket (cigarette lighter port) fuse. Once this fuse is removed, battery power to the 12v socket and to the idlestopper module will be turned off. This will return the vehicle to a normal factory state and the idlestopper module will not function until the fuse is put back in. My apologies for the long response but I wanted to give you as much information as possible.

Just installed this on my '21 Pilot. It works! SAVE YOURSELF FRUSTRATION! That tab that the tech says needs to be pushed in (2:38), is NOT the case. It actually needs to be pulled away from the plug body. I tried on three separate days to get it to work the way he shows it. Didn't work. I finally got a 90 degree pick tool and a long flat screwdriver, worked the pick tool above the tab and pushed DOWN, applied pressure with the screwdriver, and off it came! Finally! I was so happy to be able to continue with the rest of the install! Now, looking to install another one on my wife's new '24 Passport.

Got it installed in about a hour in my 24 pilot elite. Strongly recommend having a plastic panel removal kit as the one included just isn’t enough. Had pain with: The shifter cover at the bottom left. Strongly recommend doing top right, then top left a little, then bottom left and then bottom right. the last plastic panel also was a pain. Ultimately got the two top brackets off using my fingers and three trim tools to get the left side off. Never got the right side off but didn’t need it. Also the wireless charge mat was a pain- needed 3 tools. Attacked right corner first with the cut out spot, one on the right side and one on the bottom. After getting right side, used my three tools with the 2 cut out spots and then a large wide one in the bottom middle.
