    Little difficult if you have big hands like myself. Suggest when you’re connecting the factory cable to the idlestop connector you use a pair of needle nose pliers to get a firm grip on the factory connector. Otherwise works well and was fairly simple to install. Thank you for a well-done video!

    Works great - my hardest step was getting the factory power connector off, and then plugging the idlestopper connector to the factory 2 wire connector, there was no slack at all like in the video.

    Installed today on a 2023 Passport and it's working great. A few extra points on the install steps: 1) The connector on the bottom of the wireless charging pad has a push tab that you need to press in to get the connector to release. There isn't much slack on the wiring harness so you need to carefully rotate it around a bit to see that push tab. It's on the wire side connector where it's thicker, square and sticks out slightly. 2) When you lift up on the shifter panel, you'll feel two pieces of plastic where your fingers are...a thicker and a thinner piece. You just need to lift up the outermost thinner piece --- it's like separating a shell that goes over the thicker part. 3) You tried to warn me about that metal edge when reaching down for the power connector. Did I listen? No. Did I cut myself? Yes. Do yourself a favor and listen to him and put a towel or something to cover that edge...your wrist will press hard into that metal edge when you are trying to get that power connector off (the WORST part of the job imho). It takes some patience and small hands to both press that tab on the bottom while pulling on the connector at the same time. It look me about 8 times before I finally got it. 4) One tool that makes connecting the idlestopper power cable to the factory power cable a lot easier are those long articulated needle nose pliers (they are about 12 inches long). You can hold the factory connector firmly with the pliers in one hand while pressing in the idlestopper power connector in with the other hand. That way your wrists aren't struggling with the metal edges of death. You can find this kind of pliers at the big box home stores in the tools department....they are very handy for all kinds of difficult to reach places in cars....one of the best tool purchases I have made.

    It works like a charm on 2022 Civic Touring. Note: a bit of hassle with disassembling the console to install but takes less time to reassemble. I have Idlestopper V2 and works as advertised. Does not void Honda's warranty. It is nice to know, get in your vehicle and go as never have to recall whether you pushed that aggravating button. Do not forget when removing the connectors there is a small tab on the connector that needs to be pushed to remove the connector from the plug socket.

    I fought the connector for a couple minutes but actually had an easier time pressing the tab and pulling on it from the passenger side. YMMV

    After an two separate attempts, the last one took an hour, we finally got the power cable out and was able to install everything. It works but I though you could disable the idlestopper. I can't turn the car's idlestop back on (green) by pressing the button. I want to make sure I don't cause issues with resale.

    It would be cleaner if you added some sort of plastic shroud to the end of your connector so the pins are not exposed. If I need to remove the device for some reason I don't want to deal with the adhesive from your felt sticker.

    We use the Honda factory connectors and they unfortunately don’t make a mating connector which is why there is a gap left which needs to be covered using our solution. You can use electrical tape or any covering you find sufficient to enclose that gap. We provide the adhesive felt as it’s the best solution we have to cover the gap that is available in strips. The adhesive is easily removed with rubbing alcohol or thinner with a rag or q-tip. On a side note: If you need to disable your module for any reason or if you’re uncomfortable leaving it connected for dealer service, you have 2 options other than fully removing the idlestopper. 1. You can remove the 12v power socket fuse for the console and it will then stop power from going to the module and cause the idlestopper and only the 12v power socket to not operate. 2. You can unplug the white (idle stop switch) connections only and this will also cause the module to not operate and the vehicle to return to normal factory state. Thanks for your feedback and for being a customer!

    Does this void warranty? Does anyone know if Honda has a problem with this since they do have a lawsuit where the idle stop stalls and leaves people in dangerous situations for minutes to hours. Honda always just says you can’t permanently disengage it so just press the button every time if you want to live 😂

    Thanks for your interest! The idlestopper won’t void your warranty entirely. It’s similar to any aftermarket part and could only affect the warranty of the parts that the idlestopper is DIRECTLY attached to (12v power socket, idle stop off switch) and that’s if the idlestopper is proven to be the cause of those part failures. We have many Honda dealers and employees around the country who use or install the idlestopper modules. Honda definitely has a big problem with idle stop failures in a wide range of their vehicles. Unfortunately with no way to permanently disable from the factory, the only recourse you have is to either press the off button every time or install the idlestopper to guarantee that you will be problem free.

    Ugh. I had to give up for now. There’s absolutely no way I’ve been able to unplug the 12 V power connection. I could reach underneath to press the little tab, but then I won’t have any room to even move the plug out at all. If anybody has a surefire away of doing this, please let me know. I can barely fit my hand in there at all.

    Sorry to hear that you are having troubles. Honda put that connection in a terrible spot/angle. Some suggestions would be: Make sure you are keeping the black tab on the black connector pressed, then wiggle the black connector back and forth while also pulling it in the off direction. Sometimes it helps to get on the pass side of the vehicle and use a different angle. Also another tip would be to push the connector ON first before pulling off. I know this sounds counterintuitive but it may help. Hope you can get it!

    why wouldn't they make those prongs shorter so you they aren't exposed and you don't have to wrap them?

  • @idlestopper7486

    @idlestopper7486

    Жыл бұрын

    Unfortunately the manufacturer doesn’t make a smaller size so we are using what’s available to make the connection without modifying anything. The gap isn’t a problem and the tape covering is more than sufficient to keep it from being exposed after install.

  • @lukintube

    @lukintube

    I just ordered one. Would it cause a problem if I trimmed the prongs down? Just worried if that tape gives out over time and exposes that connection.

  • @idlestopper7486

    @idlestopper7486

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for your order! The prongs could theoretically be cut, but I wouldn’t recommend It. The end of the prongs have a hole that is part of the holding mechanism of the connection. The prongs being exposed is not really the biggest problem either, even if the tape were to come off at some point. Worst case scenario is that the prongs are exposed and the positive prong touches a metal ground and blows a fuse. That’s it. Covering the prongs makes sure this isn’t possible but it isn’t a devastating scenario if it does happen. If the module power prong touches ground, only the fuse will blow and no damage will be done to the idlestopper or the power socket itself. You can also use electrical tape if you’d feel more comfortable with the connection staying covered that way. Hope this helps!

    @@idlestopper7486 yeah that's sad fact. Actually I didn't know that I can not turn it off anymore. I picked Honda, because I think that is the last year of V6, they would continue same thing as Toyota, turbo 4 cylinder crap.
