    Ordered it directly from Idle stop and it arrived quick. Installed it today on my 22 Acura MDX, was a little hesitant to pry off the parts to the console, but it went well, no damage. The hardest part was taking off the wiring clip to the outlet in the front passenger footboard. Go slow. It works great, now it's got me thinking about ordering the drive mode model.

    Just completed the install on a 22 MDX S Type Advance. I do a lot of my own work on my vehicles, so the work around the power plug wasn’t too bad. There is a speaker that will need to be removed and the side panel has a couple of extra snaps on either side of the speaker. You can work through the speaker bracket to access the power plug. I also installed the IDS controller so that the idle stop would not engage even if I went to comfort or normal when driving. Works great!

    Since it's the same controller plug, why not adding an always on for the brake hold as well so we don't have to turn it on every time?

    Hi, wondering if this is detectable on vehicle scan and possibly fail state inspection based on emissions. I was looking at something like this for my truck and a gentleman with a different type of unit forgot to remove that module before a state inspection and they told him it failed the emissions standards as the start/stop was not enabled on startup. Would love to install, but do not want to take the dash apart every year in order to pass the inspection.

    Thanks for your interest! Our module is not detectable by the vehicle and will in no way cause a fail on a safety or emissions inspection. Our module doesn’t reprogram or override any vehicle electronics, it simply presses the idle stop off button for you each startup. It also doesn’t get in the way of dealer service or software updates or recalls if your vehicle ever needs any. There’s no need to ever remove our module from your vehicle👍 Also as a side note, idle start/stop is not a federal or state regulated system in the US and is simply for increased fuel economy. The manufacturer would not provide the customer with an “off” button to disable the system temporarily if it was emissions related.

    Hey there 🤚, Thanks for reaching out. Sorry, but We haven’t received any emails about this or from you that we can find. May it possibly have been sent to the wrong email address? In any case, Acura did not make a 2021 MDX which is why we don’t show a listing for that year. Acura skipped over that year and the “newer” body style was introduced as a 2022 model year. Please check your VIN number and find whether yours is a 2020 or a 2022 or you can email us at idlestopautooff@gmail.com and provide your VIN number and we can look it up for you. One other option is to take a pic of your vehicle and email it to us and we can determine from that picture which year yours is😊

    Thanks for your interest! The Idlestopper Will not void your warranty. At the very most the dealer could deny warranty service to the part that it’s directly attached to, and that’s only IF they can PROVE that it’s the cause of a fault. The manufacturer isn’t legally allowed to void your warranty entirely because of the Moss/Magnusson Act for putting aftermarket parts on your vehicle. We do also offer an IDS controller which will save your individual mode at every start up if you would like that module instead! Hope this helps! www.drivechipauto.com for the IDS Controller

    According to the manual this will void your warranty. I asked the dealer and they said if this is found during a warranty repair, your vehicle will be consider out of warranty.

  • @idlestopper7486

    @idlestopper7486

    The idlestopper will definitely not void your warranty in its entirety. At MOST the dealer could deny a claim on the power socket and idle stop switch as these are directly connected to the idlestopper module. The idlestopper would also have to be proven to be the cause of failure in the previous situation. Your warranty rights as a customer are protected by the Magnusson Moss Warranty Act which states that a manufacturer cannot deny your full warranty due to aftermarket parts being installed. Aftermarket parts are a common and normal thing to use on a vehicle. There’s aftermarket tires, wheels, wipers, air filter etc. that are used on almost every vehicle even while under warranty. The warranty is not voided by using these parts, but if the aftermarket part causes a specific problem, the specific repair may not be covered. Your full vehicle warranty remains intact and protected the warranty act. Thanks for your interest and I hope this helps!

    @@idlestopper7486 That's interesting since the book says any modifications to your vehicle while under warranty that interferes with the operation of the vehicle as intended by the manufacturer voids the manufacturers warranty. Further, the dealer says that this switch is considered part of the breaking system. Any modification to the breaking system is considered a safety issue which also would void the warranty. I am not a lawyer, but given as complicated as cars are the risk while under warranty seems quite high. You know as wells I do any manufacturer will blame anyone other than take responsibility for their failures. As much as I hate the auto stop feature why take the risk to avoid pushing a button. Thanks for the respose and the video.

    Fully understand your concerns. The idlestopper is very minimally invasive and doesn’t reprogram or change any vehicle settings permanently. It simply pushes the idle stop off button for you once and then powers off. We don’t have any compatibility issues or problems at all with our devices. We even have many Acura and Honda dealers that install and recommend our products. The idlestopper was designed even in failure to NOT cause any vehicle problems. The last thing we’d want is to fix one problem (idle stop) but create another. The idlestopper was designed for customers who were getting stranded at stoplights and in scary safety situations with no recourse or fix being provided by Honda. I’m also an 18+year Acura technician so I’m very familiar with the warranty information and what’s covered/denied and how the dealer processes work. It sounds as though your dealer is misinformed and also ignorant to your rights as a customer. In any case it was very nice to hear your opinion and again thank you for being interested in our product!

    @AnthonyMartinez-fx8pr I am a lawyer... that language about it voiding your warranty is almost certainly not enforceable. In order to actually enforce the language, they would have to show that the modification you made was the cause of whatever problem you are trying to have the warranty cover.

    @@t3h8ar0n There is one major flaw in your argument. This switch is required by law to be installed on new vehicles. All car manufacturers take the position that altering any device required by law voids your warranty. Seatbelts, air bags etc. also fall under this category. Maybe the car companies lawyers aren't as knowledgeable as you are. However there is quite a bit of case law on this particular subject.

    This is incorrect, it’s been proven that at most you might save a couple cents in fuel, if that. What you save in gas, is not worth the wear and tear on your starter. The head Acura mechanic at my dealer said it’s by far the dumbest thing on the vehicle. Acura and most other car makers added this in an attempt to be more eco.
