Looks like instead of gliding the plane down, he tried to stay up by pulling up. That is bound to fail and stall the plane causung a hard touchdown. He was not that high and was in line with the runway with a lot of runway. All he had to do was to glide it down but of course no one can predict what a panic reaction would be.

Take a look at the elevators after the fan quit - FULL up! Should have been in best glide speed position, not stall position.

When looking frame by frame video before the crash, the first frame is showing full elevator up AND left aileron up but NO rudder. Then pilot realises the wing has dropped and applies right aileron again with NO rudder. He migh have some right rudder at the crash point, but too late. Pilot needs more training.

Before each flight check the KILLER ITEMS:FFTT=Fuel, Flaps, Trim, Transponder, then cycle the control surfaces. This is a reaffirming action done after the official checklist. Safe flights and happy landings everyone.

The plane was FLYING. Loss of power just means that it stops going UP. The pilot panicked and tried to force it back to the ground, rather than just making a dead-stick landing.

Lowering the nose upon engine failure would've been the better move, to maintain lift and controlled flight. From the position of the elevators it looks to me like he stalled it, resulting in that hard landing. Happy to know the pilot is ok. Cheers!
