This is a recording of the first in a series of workshops on the utilization of ForeFlight, the aviation industry's most renowned and widely used electronic flight bag (EFB) and flight planning application. This virtual workshop, led by Brian Schiff, Mike Jesch, and Robert Meder, will be held on the first Monday of each month.
The workshop will offer comprehensive hands-on training on using ForeFlight for flight planning, weather, and in-flight navigation. Learning to master ForeFlight as an n essential tool will improve your aeronautical decision-making (ADM).
We are happy to report that Gold Seal Ground School has donated two lifetime ground school memberships for either Private Pilot or Instrument Rating courses. These are valued at $300 each. We plan to have giveaways during each workshop. You need to be present during the workshop to win.
The workshop will enrich your understanding of ForeFlight and allow you to benefit from other pilots' collective knowledge. The pace will ensure attendees thoroughly understand ForeFlight's functionality without feeling overwhelmed. Tailor the content to your needs by posing questions and contributing tips and knowledge.
Each recording shall be considered a prerequisite to the following workshops. It will be assumed that you've either attended or watched the recordings of all prior workshops.

Very helpful introduction to ForeFlight!
Excellent content and presentation! Thank you.
I know you do not use Foreflight. I have been working the tutorials along with them. Learning sooooo much! I flew last night not thinking the gas pumps would not get fixed quickly. I will check the tanks today and drive to Ingleside to get 20 gallons if necessary.
Fantastic job guys!!! Thank You.
Thanks Mike and Brian....

You're welcome. We enjoy this stuff!
I still carry paper charts; as a back up

I do too. I have never regretted having them on board. I have, however, regretted -not- having them with me. ;-)
Future workshops will be slower, beginning with downloading data and progressing into beginning a flight plan. Workshops will cover features chronologically as you plan a flight to filing and flying that flight.
Thanks for recording .... really enjoyed it. Jenni Martin CFI ATP

Thanks Jenni - it will become more advanced (slowly) and hopefully improve as well.
Using the PIVOT iPad MINI mount which mounts on the side windshield with a suction cup. The mini screen is plenty big enough.
Thank you Brian! This is great, I wish it could be once a week. Hope to see you at Oshkosh!

Thanks! We're thinking of doing it more often - and maybe having some focus webinars -- shorter ones on one topic, like setting up W&B.

@@TheProficientPilot That would be great!
64GB is more than enough for iPad size for most-to-all GA pilots. Unless you are flying the entire United States and preloading every single chart, FAA document, and approach you'll never exceed 20GB usage. Never once came close to using over 64GB on iPad I use for aviation exclusively. A big note about cellular iPads: the GPS chip in them is not WAAS and less inaccurate then external devices such as the Sentry. Much better to use an external GPS/ADSB receiver (or connect to your panel if you have a Garmin FlightStream/etc); you'll want that external device anyways. iPad Mini 6 64GB WiFi + Sentry is the best buy for an aviation iPad currently

Thanks for passing this along. I'll share that information during tonight's workshop. Keep in mind - people are different. Some like to download everything so they don't have to worry about what's downloaded or not. I have both Jepp and Gov't plates and charts of the entire country and Canada and Mexico. Necessary? No. That takes up 52 GB of memory on my iPad. Also - when a new data cycle comes out early, it will nearly double the memory required to have both sets on board at the changeover date. It's a matter of personal preference. So if you never want to worry about there being enough room -- and it also depends on what else you may plan to have on the iPad -- then you should get one with more memory.

That is correct about the GPS chip but I personally like having the built in chip as a backup. I have a dedicated Ipad I use for flying with the chip but mainly use my Stratus for input but now I also fly a C150 I recently aquired and We dont have ADSB in it yet nor have purchaced a Portable device so that is when i fall back to the built in chip.
I think the Taxi Route must be Performance, not Pro. I have Pro but Taxi Route does not show up even under ForeFlight Labs. A very cool feature though!

It is part of the Performance Plus plan - sorry. It's a neat feature, but one that I've found distracting. Using it at that time seems to distract from my taxiing duties.
I have used FF for about 3 years now and never seen the altimeter setting pop-up. Could not find on the FF website. Can someone tell me how to activate it?
In the chat during the live webinar, someone posted a discount code for the Flyboys Pivot case.. anyone have that discount code?
