Is the 1.5 version of hard wiring explained in the plans?
I built these out of end-grain balsa and another set out of insulation foam. The result was 'OK' but zippo bass. Good fun to trial, but I do not use them

I'm a little confused, can you order the PCB with the components already installed? Like at the end you soldered the Arduino on there, but can you order the PCB with buck converters, mosfet switches and Arduino and resistors and all that integrated into a single PCB with connectors? I have an idea that I want to mass produce but want to drop ship them to customers and have them just install the Arduino code (unless that can also be done by PCBWay?) and mount to a 3D printed enclosure that they print themselves from a file I send them. When I say integrated, I mean integrated. Not a board with the Arduino and components soldered on top. I mean the board itself has those components built into it.

Absolutely no issues with them so far! I'm still working finishing the trim work we started back when I released this video, but the lights are holding up! 🤣
I was looking at this mini CNC and as you mentioned, the listing made it sound like this setup was made of a combination of Aluminum plate covered in Bakalite. At least that is what I thought. I was also concerned about the setup and how difficult it might be. I'm not computer savvy like the younger generation, so this is a concern no matter where I get it from. Thank you for your honest review. I specifically looked at this model because they offer the machine with an extruded aluminum and plexiglass enclosure for an extra $75. The I realized that it would be cheaper to make my own enclosure. I think I'm going to pass on this model and look at a larger model made from stronger material, and a better rated one. Thank you!

Where can you get the better bits you talk about?
I've always had good luck with toolstoday.com/, specifically Amana brand bits, but I've also gotten some really cheap SpeTool bits on Amazon. The SpeTool bits are definitely not something you'd be able to use commercially, but for a tiny machine like this I think they'd hold up fine!
Half the $200 price is like two times too much. An obsolete tablet for $50 looks way better, or is having a grainy cheap looking 90's display the 'in thing' now like a gameboy instead of your phone?
Yeah I guess that's how I look at it. It's a fun little low-tech way to see quick status updates on things. 🤷🏻♂️
8:07 you are right. Even an electric firelighter will cause this to happen if you click it within 15cm (2.5 cheeseburgers) away from it.

Will a pico work?
For the specific software used in this video, no. But if you're able to write new software to read the MIDI input from your keyboard and output it to LEDs then the Pico would certainly be able to handle that!
Would you know what resolution this can get? Interested to know how low the Z travel can get, eg smallest travel is 0.1mm
From what I saw, it said .003" resolution. So not a whole lot better than .1mm in the end 🤷🏻♂️
Can it cut aluminum?
Not with any level of accuracy, it's not sturdy enough. I tried cutting very very shallow and stopped it almost immediately cause it was chattering and bouncing all over the place, even at like .05mm depth of cut. Hope that helps!
can this be done for the rapberry pi zero 2w? maybe with just an e-ink display?
Like @gianlucatomasello9492 mentioned you tried 0.05 inch steel wheres the spec promised 0.05 mm steel (25 times thinner). @ChadsCustomCreations was able to cut 0.15mm (0.006 inch) steel with a 20w machine. The thickness really matters because of the heat conductivity of the metal. The new upcoming 70w machines will make things interesting.

This one doesn't but it can easily be upgraded to install a laser! Some other companies 3018 Pro builds might come with a laser though so make sure to do some searching before buying one!

I don't know if you've seen this by now but if you're comfortable with the sound level of a drill in an apartment, instead of using a box cutter, you could also use a cutting wheel similar to those used for dremels. Or better yet use one on a dremel. But to be fair a box cutter is obviously much quieter than a drill
Hoe to buy it
Just a little hopefully helping info…raise the bed. That’s why your cuts didn’t come out so well. Aluminum…no go for any diode laser. Any metal etching and glass needs a sort of “backer” or coating. Several instances I saw were setting issues, not machine issues. But there’s too many to type. IMO, I’d say you need to familiarize yourself with the units before throwing a semi-bad rating. I have this exact machine and many others, these are definitely not production type machines, but they all take quite a bit of playing with them, learning and setting them to dial them in. The power you plugged them into can affect their performance capabilities. This machine will do exactly what it says it will. The operator just needs to know what they’re doing.
I mean I tested the machine against the settings provided by the manufacturer using the focusing block that came with it. I also spent a lot of time tweaking settings, I just don’t have time to show all that in a video.
You have to be conservative with your feeds, speeds and depth of cut with a machine like this. It takes some experimenting to arrive at the best settings for various materials. But, other than that…a machine like this is a great choice for one off or non-production items.
Hey dude cool and informative vid. I have a question for ya, (fair warning long explanation sorry) I normally use my UBS LED lights but their not in strips they are more like Christmas light design. I got them at best buy as a bonus gift if you put money on a gift card you'd get the lights. (Needless to say I went a little overboard with my gf and we got like 10 gift cards the lights weren't very long only a few feet and if you unwind them they extend a bit longer so we just put the min of $20 on each card) 😏. They are great lights and plug in UBS so I got a USB hub to have them all plugged in at once. I haven't had any issues or found any ones better than them. I saw the light strips years ago (2013/2014) but I wasn't sure the tech was up to par at that time so I've waited for technology to advance more. Tech hasn't advanced that much and they dont function the way I'd like but you work with what you got so. I have 2 Aura brand light strips and one luma strip. I'm trying to wrap them around my entertainment stand but the stand is made out of particleboard wood chips and the legs are some kind of polyurethane plastic their strong and semi hard bit the tips where you would them together tends to weaken to 11:43 break often when you move the stand anywhere or Gravity does the trick when it's sat in the same spot for a really long. So will these light strips melt any of the plastic legs if I let it touch them? I was wanting to wrap the light strips around each shelf but their too long and I think the ones I have are too cheap to even cut with out damage so what can I do? I have game consoles on on each shelf and my TV on top. I noticed that my PS4 air flow in the back was messing with the adhesive from the heat blowing off from the back,I have it ventilated well and the ps4 raised by 2" sitting on peg legs. I'd love to pick your brain on best options and not burn down the house send me a direct message or something so I can communicate better and I can give you visuals to see exactly what I'm talking about. From 7:10 to 7:20 that cut is pretty rough on the edges or is that normal
I think the cut you're talking about is one I made with my CNC Router. The laser actually had almost no effect on the aluminum, I just could have done a better job of separating the two operations visually.
@@ModernHobbyistIt's my understanding that you really need a fiber laser to cut metal. I put a sheet of aluminum foil on our 100W CO2 laser and hit it with 100% and it did nothing. The internet says a 150W-650W CO2 laser might be able to cut some metals (steel) but diode lasers seem extra unlikely to cut any kind of metal. Engraving the coating off anodized metal is usually the way to go, or using Cermark (or generic moly dry lube spray) can bake markings onto certain metals, mostly ones that don't conduct heat as well, so the heat can get hot enough to bond the molybdenum to the metal.
@ModernHobbyist I really like this teleprompter design but I can't really use it as is since I'm using my iPhone as my camera and I thought the Beam Splitting glass was much too expensive (trying to keep costs to a minimum). This means I've had to design my own but instead of glass, I'm using a clear piece of acetate I got from the dollar store. Because it's so thin, I don't get that ghosting effect, in fact, it's got quite a clear reflection of the text and the camera can still see through it without issue. For pipping, I'm using an old shower curtain rod I had laying around in my garage. Everything else I should be able to accomplish with my printer and a few insets and screws. Other than the PLA, the only other thing I'll need to buy is a hot swap show for my tripod. Wish me luck.

Not sure, I would think about .5 pounds each so about 3 pounds total, or 1.36kg 🤷🏻♂️

I am new to CNCc and am wondering if a cheap CNC mill can be used as an automatic punching machine. i have a workpiece with dozens of precisely placed punch locations. Normally I use a sharpened needle to manually punch holes as its a sheet of soft material. My questions are: 1) whether i can connect this sharp needle to the CNC and simply use it as a puncher instead of a drill. 2) my work area is about 4 inches square. The hole sizes are relatively small approx 1mm. Is there a way to manually tell the cnc every time i place a new workpiece what the rotation of my workpiece is. Or give it multiple reference points instead of just one (xy 00) so it knows what the rotation of workpiece is around the z axis. 3) I am not sure if the cnc can exert a certain force downward so the needle can punch hole all the way. if not, icould it be possible to connect an automatic spring loaded puncher so that the spindle just has to come down and the rest will happen by the impact of the spring.
