    Seems like you didn't use anything to protect the dial when removing the hands, and you also didnt control the movement when letting down the power, you just let it rip??

  • @Mitkawatch
    @Mitkawatch26 күн бұрын

    Well observed, No I did not use a cover over the dial as the tool has Teflon feet and I have never scratch anything using them. Last time I had a mark it was from an old style hard plastic protector that actually left a swirl mark… I have started to use the new very nice Bergeon dial cover as it’s flexible and soft. (Se the latest videos) I usually let the power down by disabling the click and controlling it via the crown (if you lost grip of the crown you can bugger the barrel teeth).

    Why would anyone want to "fake" this low end model from 50 years ago? Is there really that much profit in selling them on e-bay to a few scattered customers? Why don't they just fake Timex and Bulova while they're at it?

    La Berlina è stata disegnata internamente in Alfa Romeo. Sul telaio 2600 vari carrozzieri hanno lavorato: oltre a Pininfarina (bellissima spider) e Bertone (lavoro giovanile di Giuguaro il bel coupè) hanno realizzato piccole serie anche OSI (elegante e pulita berlina) e Zagato (sbalorditivo coupè! uno dei miei preferiti modellini 1:43 da bambino)

    I think you have a good plan. It would be a terrible shame to scrap a car that is totally complete apart from engine and trans. and that is available. By aiming to get it roadworthy and no more might stop it becoming a money pit. Maybe move it on then and let someone else take it to the next stage. You have made great progress already.

    the least valuable 2600, I imagine... the engine & tranny must've gone to a spider or gt. this one strikes me as excessively "labor rich" - even if the drivetrain is all good. a lot of work to make it an interesting driver. I suppose it would be great if it could be made nice & reliable enough for a couple of couples to go out for dinner, or a team of like-minded friends to go hunting for more vintage cars (big enough trunk for tools, towing straps, floor jack & etc). if that one were found in left-hand-drive land across the pond, there'd be talk of dropping in a SBC (w/ auto!). surprise old jags & benzes for fun. best of luck!

    Only sand-blasting down to bare metal will tell how solid it is. That's probably the only way to go, otherwise the car will continue to deteriorate underneath the paint and filler. It should probably go back to Italy where the expertise to restore it and locate parts is most likely to be. Restoration will probably cost more than the car will be worth in the end, but that is almost always the case.
