Alfa Romeo 2600 Berlina how bad is it?

Well here is the follow up video on the Alfa 2600 no one asked for. I take a closer look at the condition in daylight and decide to improve it by ripping out the headliner (blerg what an awful experience that was)… Helped with the mouse smell! The good thing is that the underside is pretty solid.

That classic tyre is made by Michelin. A great little shout out to Scott.

I think you have a good plan. It would be a terrible shame to scrap a car that is totally complete apart from engine and trans. and that is available. By aiming to get it roadworthy and no more might stop it becoming a money pit. Maybe move it on then and let someone else take it to the next stage. You have made great progress already.

My thoughts exactly. It’s structurally sound, so not impossible to get back onto the road.

@@Mitkawatch Over here it would be an obvious restoration, but here the model is of more interest and the spare parts are easier to find. (For me every Alfa must be saved, so don't take advice from me 😁)

the least valuable 2600, I imagine... the engine & tranny must've gone to a spider or gt. this one strikes me as excessively "labor rich" - even if the drivetrain is all good. a lot of work to make it an interesting driver. I suppose it would be great if it could be made nice & reliable enough for a couple of couples to go out for dinner, or a team of like-minded friends to go hunting for more vintage cars (big enough trunk for tools, towing straps, floor jack & etc). if that one were found in left-hand-drive land across the pond, there'd be talk of dropping in a SBC (w/ auto!). surprise old jags & benzes for fun. best of luck!

It was the least desirable back then and still is today.. But the fact it’s so unusual makes it extra fun to eventually getting it roadworthy again👍

@@Mitkawatch absolutely. & you're right about the wild wheels - what caps! over decades of destroyed chassis it could end up a survivor-rarity after all. & some patriotic birthplace billionaire wants nice drivers returned - a contribution to culture. so... no downside.
