Welcome to SeaSpanker Outdoors! This channel is mainly about fishing for trout in Southern California and the Eastern Sierra; but, to be honest, I'll fish for just about anything just about anywhere. If you are interested in fishing but have never tried or even if your a seasoned angler this is a great place to get honest information. The goal of SeaSpanker Outdoors is to give out accurate information, promote inclusion and the sharing of ideas in the fishing community, and hopefully we can all catch more fish.

I’m going out to big bear on Saturday and I am contemplating mini jigs or minnows on a ball head. Which one would you recommend?
Awesome video rob..
Rob, are you guys going to have video on your trip to Virginia lakes recently? I miss the squeaky noises coming from Estevans Chinese reel lol!!
Another great video Rob, would love to see one on fishing in cloudy water since most of the urban regional park lakes that a lot of us have to fish in are often clouded with algae and mud. THANKS!
Caples is a beautiful looking lake. I have to put that lake on my list to visit.
woow... luarbiasa seru mancing di danau..👍💪
Hey man. Love the vids. I’m doing a 3 day trip in October to Mammoth. If you had to pick 3 lakes in the Mammoth/June Loop area to fish, which 3 are you going with?
How did this kayak work out ? Still using? Looking at getting a used one ... 700$ worth it ?
The Native is still in great shape but I will be selling it soon. I just purchased a second Old Town AutoPilot 120 🤘
What were you using thought i overheard you say power bait never seen anyone use it like this you were working it back to the shore never seen that before
It is possible in certain situations to work power bait back on a Carolina rig but thats not what was happening in the video. I was fishing a mini jig while the slip-bobber rod was stationary. I saw the bobber go down and just switched rods to hook the fish
@@SeaSpankerOutdoorsThank you Sir
I'm literally watching all you videos throughout the day.
I really appreciate it 🙏. Just let me know if you have any questions
Another good job adjusting to get on the fish. I'm filing these tips away, can't wait to try jig fishing out there soon. 👌
Right on! Just stick with it and you’ll be hauling them in before you know it 🤘
I just recent bought a nice bag from Amazon...prime day was good. About 34 bucks for the one I picked and it's big. Holds 2 rods but I can fit 4. @seaspankeroutdoors do you have a tiktok?
Very nice. You can definitely find some good stuff on Amazon. No I dont have a tictok
im going up to arrowhead soon, what rigs do you think will work best?
This time of year the trout are going to suspend in the water column. I would suspect anywhere between 5-15’ down from the surface. If it were me I would start off with a slipbobber rig.
What are your thoughts on fast moving waters, (lower and upper kings river in Fresno) using minnow or tube on a bobber with 3-5' depth? And power bait and eggs?
Definitely worth a try, depending on how fast the current is. If the current is reasonable it will definitely work as long as your bait is able to sink down to where the fish are holding in that current
Always a nugget Rob, I appreciate you and your Trout wisdom.
Thanks brother and thanks for watching 🙏
Nice Spartan Minnow with paddle tail
Thanks. The Spartan minnows actually have a split tail 🤘
Very informative, Thanks again!!
That's been my favorite place to fish Silver, for seventy years now. Caught a 9.9 lb. brown there in fall of 2022, in full spawning colors. Caught it on a Kastmaster brown trout pattern. Thanks for the tips on fishing jigs and minnows. We saw you guys fishing the Silver inlet last year, but I was too tired to hike over to meet you.
WOW thats a fish im dying to catch. Well done 🤘
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors It was the biggest, most beautiful trout I've ever caught in the Sierra in 71 years of fishing up there. Had it mounted by Trout Taxidermy in Mammoth, and Rich did a fantastic job on it.
I hope I'll see you at santee lakes for the opening day
Very awesome catch. I hope I'll see you at santee lakes this fall of November 2nd and 3rd. Trout opener weekend.
Enjoy those eastern sierra videos. I know how those winds up there can blow you off the water.
Haha ohhhh yes
Awesome video rob such a beautiful view at silver..
Thanks brother. That view at the intake at Silver looking SW at Carsons Peak is definitely my favorite
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors yup one of mine too..I'll be leaving end of month to twin lakes for a week fishing fish fest tournament..I'll be throwing the spartin..tight lines gsf
when will there be a restock for the shimano rods on golden state?
The Katana rods are currently in stock. Just message @gsfcustombaits or @katanarods2022 on Instagram and they will get you set up
What beautiful clear water! Fantastic!
Wait till you see next weeks video on Caples Lake. Really beautiful lake with crystal clear water 🤘
If you see the fish , it counts
Exactly. If the fish decides to spit the hook out I say thats his problem haha
Love this. Very comprehensive
Thanks, I appreciate it 🙏. If you ever have questions just let me know
Chewed up tail means it's a plant, but regardless, it's a biggin
It’s my understanding that drop shot is only legal for still water in California, but not for streams or rivers. Is that accurate?
Interesting. Ive never heard that but it may have to do with the amount of hooks on a dropshot rig in moving water. I could see a rig with two or more hooks may be illegal in certain waters but a single im pretty sure is legal in most rivers and streams
Good job making the adjustment 👍
Thanks. its always nice when you try somthing a little unconventional and it ends up working
Thank you very much for assisting me with the rods for shore line. I did get in touch with Kerry and will be meeting up with him ! Thanks again
No problem 👍
Like the video format
Thanks, i appreciate the feedback. Im doing alot of experimenting trying to find what works best for for the channel.
Awesome Brown’s!
Thanks, it was an awesome day on the water for sure.
Excellent set up, perfect for fishing!!
It really is a little fishing machine
Do you use the fly clips up there in the Sierra? Great video!
Oh yes. I use those things everywhere now.
i have been tying single uni knot and this knot is easier and stronger. Thank you.
uhh counter - 500+
sorry it bothers you brother, its just the way I talk haha im trying to correct it but its gonna be a long process. I will say I appreciate you taking the time to count all those 🙏
What kind of rod holders do you use on shore ? And where can I buy them. ?
I got them on Amazon. Here is the link a.co/d/0au9LQ5m
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors thanks for the info but I was asking about the one that shoved in the ground and had two positions for the rod.
@@hermelindoceniceros4092 oh ok, I think I know what you’re talkin about. Those are made by different folks and Ive collected them over the years. If you contact Kerry on Instagram @_fishinglegend_ he still makes a version of those that is really nice 🤘
SIIICK video Brotha. Really Nice Brown for sure.
Thanks brother I really appreciate it. I was shocked when I finally realized it was a brown haha
Man rob... that camera work and editing is on such another level, not to mention the scenery of this place.
Thanks brother. Im trying to get a little better with the editing with each video 🤞
Nothing to see here just another watch me fish video
@@reddog4096 I appreciate the comment but if you watch the video from 6:19-15:21 is a “HOW TO” section going over rods, reels, line, baits and how to rig them, and then the technique Im using.
Just another hater in the comments, watch all of seaspankers videos and learn something other than critiquing. This guy is dedicated to fishing and actually helps anglers, i can say so myself 🙏🏻
That is one fine Caddi-yak.🤘
Haha they are really nice little boats for sure 🤘
you always manage to find out how to fool those poor fish haha, Nice fishin brotha! Tight lines
I dunno about always, but sometimes lol
Another great video. Awesome information and way to slay em!
Thanks brotha 🤘
Professor Rob !(the real "DEIHL ") get it ?... What lake was this? i might of missed it ..thank you
No worries. Its Grant Lake in the June Lake Loop area
Great catches, and good tips about the jig weight!!!
Thanks Lee 🤘
Thank you. I always enjoy and look forward to your videos. I have two questions: 1. What color of Sinister Braid can you see best when fishing in bright sun, like in this video? 2. Sometimes you say, "chunky frog". Are you referring to the Golden State Fishing bullfrog design, or something else?
As far as the braid it really depends on the individual. For me, I see them all very well except for the black. Probably the neon pink or neon blood orange are the brightest to me. I think your hearing “chunky bro” referring to the size of a fish. A good friend of mine has said that for years so I adopted the saying
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors Thank you.
Great vid, some nice fish. I was thinking can you do a vid on your float tube as that is more in my price range than the Yak.
That video is actually in the works 🤘
thanks for sharing that retrieve, because it summer I'll shift my focus to the stripe bass but when i feel like trout ill come back. I noticed that the trout during summer they're not legathic as I thought, they'll willing to eat but doesnt want it to work for it so by slowing down the retrieval or in your case making the jig fall down slower make is easier for them to get it. Work with plastics spoon etc...
Yeah it seems those trout are always changing their minds
Another great video Rob. I'll be up there in 1 month. Hope to catch a few on the minnows
Right on! Make sure your on the water early in the morning and again at sundown. With the warmer weather up there that time of year, the midday bite can be tough unless you have a boat, yak, or float tube
Nice video Rob. It's like you always say just try everything when the fish are not cooperating. Can't enough of the eastern sierras videos.
Haha yeah sometimes those fish are jerks and make you really work for it
