I’ve been trying to improve my trout game in using different lures as a newer angler. I’ve accustomed in using spoons and mini jigs lately but haven’t used minnows. My buddy has been catching them on minnows and encouraging me to use them. Tnx for sharing these !!! Glad to be part of your trout university 😂😂😂🤘🤘🤘

Locally Big Bear, Gregory, Green Valley, Silverwood, and Hemet all have trout fishing year round. They get a bit tougher to catch when it gets hotter in August and September but it definitely can be done. Other than that I head north the easter sierra. Lots of trout fishing all summer 🤘
Great video rob good information

Rob, you do an amazing job describing the techniques and gear you use. Very thought out, explained slowly and clearly. You missed your calling as a teacher lol!! BTW, what was the brand of waders you showed a couple weeks back? The ones you thought were a little baggy but nice waders for $100?

They are TruDave stocking foot breathable waders. Really good waders for the price. Ive been wearing them exclusively in my last 3 videos. If you use code SEASPANKER you get 15% off
Hey Rob, ever fished Twin Lakes in Bridgeport? Bout 45 minutes north of the loop, done well with the family on wait and bait. You’d probably kill it!! Haha

Like bass, trout are also attracted to lures that do not necessarily mimic natural prey but stand out due to their color, movement, and vibration. Lures like spinners, flashy spoons, and brightly colored soft plastics can provoke strikes from trout. (not really what your using imitates anything closely to what the trout are feeding) For instance, I spent hours casting hundreds of different lures, which don't necessarily match the fish's natural diet as shown by the stomach contents-teeming with insects and crawfish-reveals an interesting behavior. After the 99th cast with various jigs of all colors, the atomic teaser proved its dominance over any other lure used. Sometimes, I think it's not the natural diet that tempts them to bite these unnatural-looking objects. A fish, in its ecosystem, has never encountered anything like the bait, never seen anything move in a straight line erratically with a sharp hook in the middle. The subtle presence of bugs and crawfish provides the fish with the instinct to reject unnatural prey. This instinct is triggered, especially since I was standing about six feet away, within the fish's line of sight.

Definitely possible.
Hey Rob,, another great video. Have you come across any fishing gloves that might both keep your hands warm and allow you to hold a trout without slipping? Thanks
@SeaSpankerOutdoors
Ай бұрын
Unfortunately no, fishing with gloves in the cold is just tough but I can tell you what I use and they keep me fishing when its brural cold. I use electric glove liners with rechargeable batteries and put nitrile gloves over them to keep my hands dry. They work we’ll but you loose alot of finger dexterity. Its the best solution Ive found so far but im still searching haha www.basspro.com/shop/en/actionheat-5v-battery-heated-glove-liners-for-men
