Well done, Vasilis. May God bless you and your loved ones. The Balkans represent a cultural sphere where, despite their differences, people share similar cultural traits and experiences, both historical and contemporary. It is a region where cultures have influenced each other, blended, and become relatable. Thus, in the Balkans, one can find cultural similarities between countries as well as distinct differences.

Thank you very much Vasilis... this time, I also love "your personal note" (as you called it, under the video), YOU may be the only (1) artist (of all youtube channels I've seen in a decade) saying what you're saying, and that's sooooooo beautiful : ) (cit.) "Greece, like any state in the world, must protect and take care of every citizen and group its borders have... (cause) like all states, Greece (too) has made mistakes with its own people and especially those people I presented (in this video) don't enjoy the right of self-determination and are marginalized..." (end cit.) Of course, beautiful presentation but in my "view" you also beautifully explained the "truth", with few simple words... let me say it again : ) this video... beautiful, as always, as all your presentations you published so far, but what is Greece alone, Balkans, even Europe seems so "small"... you even did one presentation "inspired by Silk Road"... I remember, couldn't stop smiling then (2-3 years ago) you were determined to dance at least 6000 km, I saw you started dancing in China, then crossing the Himalayas, reaching India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistanin, Turkmenistan, which regions else... the Armenian highlands, some regions of Kurdistan etc etc. dancing and dancing, what a tireless dancer, until you reached Constantinople : ) - - - few years ago, in another comment, I wrote - - - Videography of Vasilis means "peace", for example, he calls the Balkans "the most beautiful peninsula of Europe, but at the same time the most complicated and troubled...". In one of his videos, for the Balkan peoples he stated: (cit.) "...the message (of my video) is very simple one; PEACE! The Balkans is considered the powder keg of Europe, the keg ready to explode at any time. We must throw away this infamous title and work towards a brighter future. Work towards PEACE. Through this video I hope you can see that all the peoples of the Balkans are so similar to each other. War (verbally, or even worse, in reality) brings nothing at the end. We eat the same things, we have the same mentality, the same instruments, we have similar dances and rhythms, the list of 'Balkan similarity' goes on. We are powerful if we are all united, not divided." (end cit.) With his work, Vasilis as if "insists" that the entire cultural development and advancement of humanity is actually the "same frame", as if everything is one "global dance", as if the world is a balancing dance of the cultural "mosaic" itself ( with the "dance mosaic" I meant... all videos published about dances, I was thinking back then about his entire channel : )

unfortunately, this is the truth,... Arvanites, it is not known for what reason, were degraded as an ethnic group, they began to be ashamed of their ancestry, which was actually a lineage of famous warriors. Even in these comments that I read, there are many Slavs, Turks, Vlachs, but I don't see any comments about Arvanitas, the only one with the last name Arvaniti, he was also looking for a Macedonian Slavic song.. how sad, when you see that a once glorious people, make you so low, even lower than the people who have no homeland, Romani... like their brothers in Italy, they are different from each other, they have a great pride that they are former fighters who broke the ribs of the strongest empire of the time ,Ottomans...

@@Pan20006 Bilinguals doesnt mean they are foreign ethnic people. The video has included people like Arvanitas,Vlachs and Greek Macedonians for example, bilinguality dont mean they are the opposite of the nation they reside in. I know Karamanlides were Greeks as Pontic Greeks too. If someone doesnt understand why Arvanitas are Greek, how will he understand how other Greeks like Pontic Greeks are.

I think there's a difference betweem a greek speaking turkish and a group having the turkish language in their culture, like arvanites with albanian or vlachs with latin. I Agree that the karamanlides should have been included though.

Hi! If this video goes well, I will do a Part 2 including also Sephardic Jews, Moglenites, Gagauz and Roma among with the Karamanlides. The thing is that this first major video is about groups that are local here and for about thousand years being inside what is today Greece, the current state borders. So when someone wants to see a bilingual GREECE, these 6 is what he will see first. Asia Minor is outside of Greece and the Karamanli culture is pure Anatolian, they came (by force) just 100 years ago. I hope it goes well because I want to represent everyone :))

MaşaAllah Vasilis. Again, the actual context is war. Religion(s) and small beautiful differences, instead of uniting us as it should naturally be, are used by the hypocrites to divide populations. The actual massacre in Palestine is the result of the bad actions of those 2 faced politicians. Right now, a politic of massive depopulation by all means is applied everywhere, war/massacre, restrictions on food and water, poison advertised as medication, etc. In Europe and USA, most have now understood that after Gaza, the depopulation program will reach them, that's why we see march and manifestations in every places, hopefully peaceful, for now, peaceful. All conflicts happening right now are meaningless, and they result from the decisions of hypocrites, those who dissimulate their real identities and real bad intentions. Let's face it: the good exist and is weak, the bad exist and they are strongly united. History repeats himself, a hero will appear very soon.

These are some really beautiful songs and dances. I think you’re doing a wonderful job representing other communities that live in Greece which some of them are by large numbers. It’s about time the Greek government recognizes minorities as its people. I don’t understand how you can be a part of an EU country and still not recognize their rights, that’s outrageous and discriminatory.

  • @Dinosaur315

Well to be fair the grand majority of these people don't want to be recognised as ethnic minorities. Almost all Slavophones and Vlachs consider themselves ethnic Greeks, the same goes for more or less all Arvanites. The true problem is the Pomaks, who are unfortunately recognised as ethnic Turks even though they're not that. They're forced to learn Turkish at school (they're native language is a dialect of Bulgarian).

Let's take it easy. First geography. The geography of the Balkan is extremely mountainous and doesn't help for easy traveling. It can be a village on one side, and they don't know who are the people, living on the opposite side of the mountain. One similar example is Switzerland. Same mountainous country, four ethnic groups, and four languages. Second History. From the year -200 until the year +1400, there were no borders. Remember ? The Roman Empire. Pagan Roman or Christian Roman, it was the same Empire. And there were no borders in the Balkans. And then ? The other Empire. The one that treated ALL of us as 2nd class humans. The Ottomans. For how long ? Another 600 years. And we ALL fought to get our freedom from them. So, for two thousand years, there were no borders, no countries, nothing. Third, culture. When in a small area are living group of people it is natural to mix their cultures. All songs sound the same, all dresses are similar, all instruments of music are the same, and all dances are copied from one to the other. Especially if all are sharing the same religion. Don't our young children dance with the same beats today are rave parties ? And now the hard stuff. We all fought our national patriotic wars to get our freedom from the Ottomans and practice freely our religion. Despite if our heroes are named Skender bey, Kolokotronis, or Vasil Levski, they all share the same inspiration for freedom. Out countries became reality, and our borders are real on the map, after 2000 years. Well, it is not a realistic example for the Greek borders to include all Greek speaking groups. Otherwise, Greece today would have borders with Russia. It is not realistic for the Bulgarian borders to include all Bulgarian speaking populations, otherwise The Bulgarian borders would be in Thessalonica, and Prespa Lake. It is not possible for Albanian borders to include all Albanians. Otherwise, Albania would start from Serbia an end in Lybia, or maybe Kongo. If for 2000 years all people moved from here to there under two Empires, there will always exist pockets of groups left outside. Is this a problem ? Well. Let's start from race. Are we all of the same race ? Yes, definitely we are. White Caucasians. Do we all have the same religion ? Yes, definitely we have. We have faith to Christ and the Resurrection. Do we have the same language ? No, we don't. But also in Switzerland they don't have the same language but they don't call each other "Aaarrrggg I will come and eat you" ! We live in the mountains. We were isolated for so long. No Autobahns, no Autostradas, no Freeways. One Egnatia Road and some mules. This is our past. Of course we don't speak the same language ! Solution. As for 2000 years we lived without borders, and we traveled from here to there, and we married the girls and the boys between us, it is time to put aside the lines of the map, and the National pride we all have. We are all small countries. There will never be an Albanian, a Greek, a Bulgarian, a Romanian, or a North Macedonian Empire. A new Empire is rising, the European 🇪🇺 Empire. Again, with no borders. History repeats itself. Let's all share our common past, present, and future. It's time to behave like the Switzerland 🇨🇭 people, and stop dreaming of eating each other. Who am I ? My grandfather, age 17, as a young Greek soldier, came to fight for libération of the Greek speaking groups, from the Turks, in 1912. He was in a small vilage, where people spoke a different language. He met a beautiful young girl, and she became my grandmother. For 100 years I didn't know that I have uncles aunts, 1st, 2nd, 3rd cousins in the neighboring country. I am very happy now, that I have 300 relatives in North Greece, 300 relatives in South Greece, and 300 relatives in Bulgaria. And no, I'm not going to eat any of them. They are my blood ! ❤
