Türkiye II 🇹🇷 • Folk dances from 7 regions! | Türk halk oyunları (Vasilis)
Ойын-сауық
Folk dances from all over Turkey!! 🇹🇷
Turkey is divided into 7 geographical regions (bölge). Each of those regions has vibrant local music scenes which, in turn, support a number of regional musical styles. "Hora" is performed in Thrace (Marmara region), "zeybek" in the Aegean Region mostly and not only, "teke" in the Mediterranean Region, "kaşık oyunları" - "karşılama" in Central Anatolia and not only, "horon" in the Black Sea Region, "halay" in Southeast Anatolia Region and "bar" in the Eastern Anatolia Region. These are some of the things that make Turkey unique and beautiful! Let's explore and compare!
Episode 28 of my World Dance Series and sequel video of episode 7 (Turkey: A Dance Medley).
🇹🇷
Enjoy 30 dances from 7 regions in just 13 minutes!
Greetings from komşu :)

Thank you for watching and supporting me! Don't forget to share my video! If you want to see the rest of the 20+ Turkic tribes, you can watch it in this medley here kzread.info/dash/bejne/eqSkrNqMesm3ebQ.htmlsi=D-f5KVyK9PwTo_rM !! PS: In all my videos I try to answer to everyone, but I want to let you know that I deliberately ignore and I will not answer to racist comments or propagandistic speeches. Regarding this video, the Turkish culture is very old, very rich and very diverse and it did not need to steal anything from anyone. There are only many shared melodies, dances and cultural customs, since this geography is so diverse. Shared things or having fun with common songs between two or more neighboring tribes does not mean theft (!). To contribute to each other is something very beautiful and every nation has done it or has received it. So, try to enjoy a dance video without feeling this urge to attack a nation. :)

Vasilis, this is perfectly said! The Ottoman Empire was a mix of so many cultures and diverse people! Everyone borrowed from everyone and influenced each other. Especially if they were in close proximity to each other and shared a border. Personally as a Bulgarian, I identify alot of the sounds and dances, especially the use of wooden spoons. But I also see the Greek, Armenian, Kurdish and even Assyrian/Persian influences. I think we should just enjoy this cultural music medley and not constantly revert back to history to justify everything. Let's leave the past in the past. Great job again on this video! I watch it everyday for a mood boost! ❤🎉

My grandparent were of Rum origin and they used to listen "Silifke'nin Yogurdu" every day. When they earned a lot of money, they would drink alcohol and have the clarinet and zurna play at the table. They would get drunk and dance with wooden spoons in their hands. They would hit their knees on the ground as if they were playing zeybek. Also it would be nice to see you play "Ordu/Giresun Karşılaması" (there is just a little difference between them) and "Avşar Zeybeği".

@@Xr1stofisNot really. When Anatolian Greeks went to Greece you found their culture "oriental, foreign, and Turkish" just look up how they are treated when they arrived after the population exchange and you'll see that they were considered alien to Greece. That was the culture of Anatolia formed with the contribution of its every inhabitant, including Turks.

It is logical that all these dances from different regions can have a strong impact from Greek, Armenian, Laz tradition. The funny thing is that it totally gets lost when you look at the list of the titles. The pre view also influences further watching of the dances -you don't see anything Greek or Laz or Armenian. That Anatolian collection had that regional unity and at the same time peculiarity -one could see the mediterranean-balkan elements in the pontic greek dances, caucasian rhythms and elements of dance in the Armenian dances, persian/iraqi in the assyrian.

They are all beautiful and you performed them wonderfully. note; The word Xerzani in 16:15 is Kurdish, Turks say Garzan or Erzen. The letter X and its sound do not exist in Turkish. Muslims and Turks have historically called the Garzan region Erzen-i Ermen (Erzen of Armenia), which is where the name comes from. The same goes for the city of Erzurum, Erzen-i Rum (Erzen of Anatolia/Rum).
@4:52 "Ağır govenk" translated as "heavy" or "slow" govenk comes from long tradition of Armenian "gyovnd" dances. The word "govenk" comes from Armenian "gund" (unity, group) and in the Armenian dialect of the region (Sasun, Mush, Baghesh (Bitlis)) becomes "gyond" or "gyovnd". The rythm sounds very close to Armenian dances of the region.

Well because of that it’s kurdish, Govend is Kurdish not Turkish but yes Kurds and Armenians have very similar cultures Cauz we lived very long time in the same land but govend is kurdish word which literally means halay like all kinds of this dances are govend also halay comes from kurdish word which means “ playing, dancing or jumping” and hildan means “to pick up” and the second thing is that “gund “ is also in kurdish means “village”

Gövenk is Turkish name for dances in Far East Turkey. I thought it came from the Kurdish word Govend. My Kurdish friend told me that Govend comes from the Farsi word "Goyende", which means to sing. In the past, when musical instruments had not entered the villages, people would form a circle for halay and take turns chanting each other.

Nice stolen dances

I'm sorry, who was it stolen from? If you obviously cannot digest the rich Turkish culture, I recommend drinking soda.

Barbarians? Let's not get into politics in this video please. Russians are the last people on earth right now that can use the term barbarian to describe another nation. Just shut up and enjoy the dance video and the richness of Ottoman/Turkiye history as it is represented with these dances.

@@lba6859 Actuаlly, Russians are just moscovites, descendents from the Mongols. Anything that has to do with "rich history" was either forcebly taken, stolen or simply rewritten with Catherine's reign and her ambition to have a Russian "empire". If you are refering to Russia's numerous different ethnic groups today, those should really have their independent countries...

4:57 I am very disappointed in you… the man depicted in this photo is an Armenian man from the 19th century wearing traditional Armenian garments. I am ashamed that you would promote the turkish effort in stealing culture that does not belong to them, especially as you being a greek man… yk how much they stole from your people as well as mine. what a shame…

I ask you to investigate Zaro Agha.Because he was also a Zaza from Bitlis and wore the same clothes. Armenians do not wear that outfit today. These are local clothes that do not belong to a race.

Armenians are a nation that lived under the rule of the Turks from 1071 to 1915. I'm sorry, but I think Armenians may have stolen many things from Turkish culture, for example an instrument you call "Duduk". The word "Duduk" is already a Turkish word in itself, you can search it in the encyclopedia. Moreover, the Turks have never erased the traces of neither you nor any other nation from Anatolia. You will see that when you come to Turkey, foundations and other public institutions protect all of them. But today, there is not a single piece of Turkish architecture left within the borders of Armenia. Who was influenced by what and how much, or who destroyed whose historical traces, everything is clear today.
all this are greek-byzantium, armenian and kurdish dances stolen by the turkomongol invaders!
