I found these lyrics: Go to sleep little one Let us rest on this straw mat Go to sleep while it is yet dark Soon the clouds will disappear And reveal a great light to light up the neighborhood Tomorrow your father will return home With money from the lemons he sold He will bring you clothes and a scarf To keep you warm in December My beautiful one, with the lovely handpicked black hair Whomever does not love you or kiss you Knows not what they are missing

Wow!!! I hadn't come here long ago. I can't believe a simple transliteration made by ear and shared so I wouldn't lose it would get so many likes. I would like to clarify that I am not an arabic speaker, therefore it is not a faithful transliteration. It was made by me with an amateur ear the day my niece was born, since I just wanted to learn it and sing it for her. However, I hope this paragraph written by me after listening to the song in a loop 5 yrs ago helped some of you to learn this beautiful lullaby. I have beautiful memories of listening to it on a bright December evening, the smell of my niece's dark hair still on my nose, as I left the hospital. She is 5 years now and I still sing this song for her when I comb her curls.

The western world is so blind to how diverse, beautiful voices sound in different countries! Her voice is so raw and real! So beautiful and so timeless! I can imagine her as a priestess or princess, whose defining feature is her voice! Divinely favored by the gods, and given this extraordinary ability. To channel the gods and ancestors through her enchanting and bewitching voice.

Excuse me madame ignorance. The Western World has its own form of diversity and beauty in songs. Even though Christianity tried to erase it, many European countries tried to hold on to their ancient songs. Have you ever heard a song sung in Gaelic? A song from the Breton people? Not Britain but the people of Brittany in Northwest France? Have you ever heard a song in Faorse? A Viking folk song? Songs sung in the languages of the Slavic people or the Mediterranean like Greece? Or songs of Ancient Rome? Prior to the Nazis completely screwing the Germans over they were rich with traditional folk songs. Even in the US and Canada have their own folk songs sung in minority languages. Not to mention the traditional songs sung in the Indigenous American languages assuming they count as part of the Western World.

@@Nala_Uko If we are honest, in the “Western world” we no longer notice the world around us. My family is scattered all over the world and it shocks me when I visit family members in the USA, Germany, England, the Netherlands, Poland or France and see how people in these countries are increasingly stuck in their bubble of complacency and ignorance and can no longer reflect. Of course there are exceptions everywhere, but overall that's exactly how I (and many others) feel..

I used to listen to this song all the time about 3 years ago. I stopped listening to lullaby's though once school started, and haven't listened to it since. It cam up as recommended just now, and I am so glad I'm hearing it again. Honestly, I love everything about his arrangement.

Beautiful traditional music, I thoroughly enjoyed it. She had a very beautiful voice. The various Arabic instruments complemented her singing. Great stuff, keep it up. Thanks for sharing.
