Walt. There is nothing stronger than the love between a husband and wife. Your devotion to her is so admirable and your willingness to work hard, even in another state to support her medical expenses is awesome. We all love your channel, but you do what you need to do for your family first. Thoughts and Prayers from Georgia. - N4SHO

The slinky dipoles are a very bad joke! I was given one by a ham that couldn't get it to work. I tried every configuration I could think of, not even a good RX antenna! I never could get 6:6 SWR with my MFJ 949D tuner!

Thanks for sharing. Know how you feel, iam full time carer for my wife who is bedridden with Ms, so I retired at 50, and gave family my full attention and down sized, saved money and enjoyed life before it disappeared. Life is too short to worry about money. Now I will give up the hobby to spend more time with my wife. I've just had a cancer scare, so happiness over money every time.

I don’t want to get political either, but for many of us, health insurance has become worthless since Obamacare took over. I mean, it’s not even close. Trouble is, you get taxed if you don’t play the game. I wish you the very best, Walt, and would gladly contribute to a GoFundMe should it ever become necessary. God bless you and your wife. 🙏

The 1 meter long Tram antenna was originally made for the British market that required an antenna with 3 db of attenuation, to legally use 4 watt CB radios in the UK, though 2 watt CB radios could use full size base station antennas at that time. It is a handy size, but be aware it is designed to cut the effectiveness in half.

My wife has very similar issues. I thank god everyday say that I live in Canada, or we could not afford some of the meds she has to take. Our coverage just will not pay for it. Our DR filled out some forms and cent them off to Ottawa and within a week she had the coverage we needed for her. We will keep you and your wife in our thoughts.

Walt! You're gonna love the Spiderbeam pole. I run my 40' spiderbeam with a G90 and a LDG 9:1. I cut a 20awg wire to 35.5' for the element, and a 17' wire for the counterpoise that I run at an angle to about a foot off the ground. It is under 2swr on 20 and 40 with no tuning! And tunes up on not only 80m but all the other higher bands. I've gotten Columbia, Spain, France, Italy, Alaska, etc. on it.
