1st stop when it doesn't start like that is the battery terminals. I had the same problem going up the bumpy Hardknott Pass, the bike stuttered and stopped. Got it going again and got home, and it was just a loose terminal. As for the seat, I had a local upholsterer to just scallop a bit of foam out making the seat more level instead of the slight forward slope. It changed the bike immeasurably, even made the handling better, lowering the centre of gravity.
u have to b the crappiest vlogger in uk
Why you talking about stones? Am I too scientific to understand briish measurements?
Best bike ever made in my books .for real .😊
Nice one 👍
Great vlog, I am thinking about one of these as I currently have a varadero 1000 for the last 6 years, lovely bike and a lot of bike for the money, but I use it for everyday journey to work and for a big bike it's not bad on fuel but I think the 500 might be the answer with the honda reliability. Thanks for the review
Its a pretty decent length of off road course you got to ride innit. 'Ull' east yorkshire.
Looks like the CL done you proud Mr Fish! I don't to slow anyone down as you overtake several misadventure bike riders🤣 I must admit when I saw the CL at the NEC I thought street bike, having watched a few vlogs on the ABR one with C90 cubs anything go's or was that nathanthepostman vlog? 👍
I have a feeling you were holding, I think you did well all things considered! great video
I'm not committing to anything right now,but think I might give this a go next year! 🤣👍 Nice to meet you here...Well in the bar infact, which you deserved more than me after doing this to be fair mate! 😎👍
Well done, i love to see these things done with "whatever you have" so bored with the "you need a gs/ktm/africa twin" etc. If it,s a race and you think you,re good enough to win, you need a race bike. For 95% of us you can have fun on anything , and feel a sense of achievment when you do .👍👍
I bought a Tenere 700 to do off-road stuff, but never really did off-road stuff with it. I ride mostly backroads and gravel roads, so I don’t need much, especially when my top speed on those roads is usually under 50-60 mph. Factor in tubeless tires, the price, and the fuel economy and it’s a win several times over.
Mate, that looked fun! I will have to go one year!
You’d love it mate
Love this bike , 2.5 years in rain or shine and purposely in all conditions I can throw at it and it never skip a beat , I did some air mods to help it breathe and it really helps .
That's really scary how easily you slid on black ice! I am going to view one of these tomorrow, for a cheap little commuter on 20-30 roads, and as my first bike, so glad it has crashibility! 🙈
Nice, l do wonder where to find these green country lanes to ride in South Dorset
Fuck that carry on
Scrambler doing you proud there Mr Fish 👍 great weekend. Great video buddy.
It was a good trail this year, no idea if it was different from other years though? The hill climb at the end was fun, but yup... def want some suspension travel for it. Your Scrambler scrambled and did so perfectly. I saw another one there, not sure if they did the trail on it though.
It was fun for sure , I saw an orange one at the end and was jealous of his sump guard
@@Mrfish2015 😀
Great video 👍 After having a few adventure bikes over the last few years, I decided to get scl500, as a little alternative, yes I may need to upgrade the suspension later on, or maybe raise the bike a couple of inches to get a little more ground clearance, etc..but what amazes me is how easy it is to ride compared to a 700cc -1200cc adventure bike After all most of us would be doing basic off road stuff on an adventure bike especially when riding solo. Cheers from USA
Easier to pick up too 💪
Quality, that first rut across caught me out still feeling it, very dusty still finding bits 😂, brilliant weekend, booked for next year 🏍👌👍
Some can be a bit jarring lol
Always a good morning to wake up to Mr Fish.
Phrasing Marlin, phrasing !
@@leeinwis 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 It's to early on a Sunday to worry about phrasing. 😂😂😂😂
@@fatmarlin4674 lol, coffee time
Ooh hello 😂
@@leeinwis Personally, I went with c4 pre workout lol.
Thanks for letting me cross the road in front of you! 😁👍
wat were ya riding ?
@@leeinwis KTM 1290s
@@teamgas Nice, I have a CRF rally , and a 650 cruiser.
Ha ha , you’re welcome glad I was polite 😂
Very nice to see you getting so adventurous on the CL. I recently went on a mostly off pavement adventure on my SCL500 in central Pennsylvania. Its a 500 mile loop route through forest roads. The bike did excellent on the Heidenau tires. The suspension did great even over the potholes but this bike doesn't like the rough bumpy stuff. You get that loud clunk from the drive as you experienced in the video.
Sounds like a nice route 👍
Looks like fun. Going to upgrade the suspension, get new bars and brush guards?
Noo , where’s the fun in that 😂
Hundreds of people gather to ride in a field Hundreds of similar videos ensue
Ha ha , funny thing is when it rains the field bit is the worst 😂
GREAT VID, I've got same, and a CRF300, put new metzeler Karoo on the CL, did a track (claerwen to Ffair rhos 16 miles) which is mainly flat but quite rocky, took a lot more concentration, and way slower even though dry, but the CL did ok, 😉 and I really enjoyed it, just worry about the clearance, good to see you outriding a lot of adventure bikes 👍
Ground clearance is definitely not a strong point ha ha
Considering that there is hardly any damping in those forks, you did surprisingly well! 👏
I have no joints left in my body
Ya did great there John!! My fat GSA even made an appearance!!
Ooh where abouts?
@@Mrfish2015 at the beginning in the Q lol, me you n Craig on the KTM started off together!!😀
Is that you si ?
@@Mrfish2015 tis indeed!!!🤣🤣🤣
lol .. well have a normal name like fish 😂 you went out of the video pretty quick 😂
That was some good going there, the CL did well. At that well timed dip just after you said "we haven't had any sump-busting dips", I bottomed out on that. Oops, hahah
Ha ha , vision is not always a strong point lol
Looked fun.quick question what have you on the seat is that to make it more comfortable as mine has the standard black seat and is the only thing that stops me doing more miles 😂
The seat is the Honda higher one with a little cool cover thing I got from Amazon years ago it just keeps a bit of air flow but doesn’t make it softer … it’s not bad though
Thanks for your quick reply cant go any higher on the seat as only 5 ft 3 short ass lol.Keep up the good content.
I wouldn't mind betting you did better than some of the cosplay adventurers there with their £20k plus bikes.Proof you don't need the very latest marketing w*ank special top of the line over complicated uber heavy panzerwagon to have an "adventure" (whatever that means nowadays as the marketing depts have hijacked the genre) 👍
God help anyone on a GS that pulls up next to you 😮😂
Say what you think 😂 .. if I had a tank would have been easier lol
Well done! Both you and the bike given a great account of yourselves. What are the Trailmax Raids like on road btw?
I have Karoo 4s which are pretty much the same as the Trailmax raids. The man from Dunlop told me the Trailmax raids are a bit better on wet roads, otherwise the same. Only real disadvantage of these compared to road tyres is that you'll get less mileage out of them and they're not so cheap.
@@DanTube2010 Thanks....I'll consider all that when time comes to replacing the factory Dunlops 👍🏼
Pretty good , I’ve had 2 sets in my old Africa twin and the handled great even in the wet .. a little buzzy but that’s standard
@@Mrfish2015 thanks....I'll consider them if I get the urge to venture a bit more off the beaten track than an odd gravel road with my CL👍🏼
Nice 1 Mr Fish
I Think the CL did really well ! ... well ridden too !😊
Thanks
Ah, the key fob was the problem? I change the batteries every new year, small cost and avoids a bit of hassle 👍
I'll get my Hornet next Saturday. I'm completely excited
I don't understand what japanese designers were thinking about creating a touring bike without even a small plastic rear rack? How people should mount cases or bags? Even hl 150 for 2500$ has a metal rack in stock. Honda shame on you.
I understand but people just change them so it’s an option …
I think it’s good save money and it’s a Honda 😊
How many bikes have you got?
4
Nice bike Good luck with it In this horrible world of bike theft, I would be interested in your thoughts ( keep them clean ) Would you consider a tracking device Ride safe and keep cracking on
Touch wood , I’ve never had a bike stolen and I’ve also had a tracker and it ruined my battery so never again lol
Why don’t you buy Marino underwear very comfortable?
A read that as Mario underwear ha ha
@@Mrfish2015 ha ha ha lol you can buy Mario if you want 😃😄
Mr Fish, You are only a mile from me, recognised the road!
Now if your name was Chip we would have... sorry i'll show myself out !
I have a 21 adventure DCT with similar setup as yours, plus swivel foot pegs for more boot support, barkbusters, front mudguard extension to reduce the stone chips on the down tube, quadlock phone holder, tire pressure indicator, but IMO I found the seat very very uncomfortable so at a big expenses changed it to Seat concepts but only a small improvement, they are on to a big winner as you cannot return it after its fitted, I then purchased a Airhawk which isn't perfect but make long haul rides bearable.
I never had a problem with the seat but I know a lot did
Cracking review. Seems like I’ll like my one when it comes. Changing from BMW f850gs that never went off road. Neither will this one.
I had the pleasure of riding on a 99 900rr as my first bike. I later moved onto a gen 2 hayabusa which i had for 11 years. The hayabusa was more refined and faster but i must admit the 900rr was more fun to ride. better sensation of speed and felt like it had more character
I know others like em but i'm glad to see no gold shocks ...
Looks like Wolvens Lane near Westcott, my favourite mountain bike route up to Leith Hill.
That is correct ..
Can you please tell me what model # of Barkbusters handguard mounting kit ( the metal part of the Barkbuster kit) you have on your bike? I see people saying the CB500X 2019+ kit or the 2023 Transalp kits work on this bike, I just don't want to make that gamble and get the wrong ones.
VPs I believe
What's the name of the wind deflectors ? :)
The little ones on the side ? If so they are Honda accessories
