Love the Mustang, one of my favorite cars that you own, I'd say it deserves the work you have planned for it and definitely power tour worthy. Also I don't mind the non-car work videos or simple things, I enjoy all kinds of projects!

When "buttering" those concrete pads, it's best to wet down the pads before smearing on the mortar. Otherwise, the dry concrete sucks out water from the mortar. That premature water loss compromises the strength of the mortar.

My favorite year for Mustangs was 1969. The front end looks especially great on those cars, but all the old ones are cool.

G'day from Australia coming from someone who's done block laying in the past you done well with it for a first time though as mentioned might’ve been a good idea to backfill the insides with cement basically just a mortar mix because that will give ut extra strength as for building up under and around with sand that's a good idea but I hope you are planning on putting a retaining wall around because next floods will wash most if not all of it away have seen it happen so many times anyway keep up the good work

If you ever get the chance find an old Mustang station wagon. They are extremely rare cars, they do exist, but not a lot of them survived.

Just to throw this out there, you could put anker bolts in the concrete in the middle of the upper most block on each corner. Those Conex containers were meant to be linked together which you can use to your advantage. Also, if you don't fill the blocks and it get's cold enough to freeze with any water in there it could break the blocks from ice wedging.

Issac!!!!!! QQQ for future reference when laying those blocks, use a rubber hammer, not your hand. And no you don't need to hit it hard. Just don't hit it with your hands. You need them to work on minibikes go karts and other projects.

Before you spread the mud for the joint take a small amount of the mortar on the tip of the trowel and where your joint will be on the block spread a thin layer first in the black then spread your vertical joint . The problem your having is your mortar is too thick and the block is too dry so the mortar is just falling. if you apply a skim coat on the block first the mortar will stick to itself.
