Back when Chevrolet didn't reinvent new parts for every single model, just made more sense to keep using what worked, kept costs down and repairs straight forward.

What a great project. Bringing the 1950's and 1960's cars back to life is a very worthy cause.

The short handle sledge hammer is called, "the Ford wrench". Twin I beam front ends doing front end alignment you heat it up in strategic places and gently bend it back into specs. So it earned the name being used in tight places aligning Ford trucks..

I love seeing the 57 get some love. You could play my videos and get motivation since yours motivate me. Lol. That 4 door 57 looks like a good builder but I totally understand having to use it for parts. I can't wait to see you driving it around. Wish I lived closer. I'd be over there helping. Long live the tri fives!

@@isaacitllbefine7231 If the original trans was a cast iron power glide the overall length from the engine block to the output seal was the same as a Muncie 4spd (a BW T-5 will fit as well) If you are putting in a Rock Crusher, you will need to change to a 31 spline yolk but it should fit too.

their data bank on the computer doesnt go back that far ,from what i remember as a kid nearly everything from a 1963 impala was the same as a 1957 210 . if those drums haven't yet been turned they are probably better than what you can get new ,happy trails fyi ,if i rember right ,i took the back seat out of a 63 impala the one with the chrome deer plate and put it in mine and it fit.

I'm not as bad at 'collecting' used parts and vehicles, but I can do what you do and find parts to make another bike work from my stashes. If 54-1/2 is good, then 55" is even better as we Know you won't be gentle and I've seen the tailshaft sheared from the driveshaft. Not only could it catapult at speed, but all the rework is a pain.

They didn't change much in the 60 some years between then and when Chevy switched to 4 corner disc brakes the only difference is the diameter of the drums but a lot of parts are shared by so many different models that's the cheapest way to manufacture Ford and Chrysler were the same as long as you know what you're looking at
