    Hi, curious if you remember how much your pikler cost when you purchased? Looks like Home 4 Dreams aren't selling through Etsy anymore and only through their website with super high shipping fees, and I'm trying to figure out if the overall cost is reasonable. Thanks!

    Hey. I have been wondering for a while now, where is the line between allowing a child to process an emotion and redirecting them? I'm not sure both are applicable to the same situations, but I fail to understand when to let my child just be upset and when to redirect their attention so they don't get upset in the first place.

    Hey! Im going on a trip to the panhandle at the end of July. Thank you for this informative video! Great tips! ♡ Curious out of Pensacola, Destin, & Panama; Which one do you think is the safest? Or most kid friendly? Thanks so much! :)

    You're welcome! So I haven't gone to pensacola yet (going in a couple weeks actually though!) - but it's less touristy/more residential than Destin and PCB/ not a vacation spot - and for that reason I *think* it makes way fewer headlines (e.g. 6 people died last weekend in PCB due to rip currents, and were all tourists). The highhhh majority of headlines from PCB and Destin beaches are tourist related (I don't think I've seen 1 local headline or heard of one either actually). As far as Destin or PCB it depends on age and interests of kids. PCB has Gulfarium, Ripley's, basic shopping at Pier Park, and a splash pad/good playground at frank brown park. They also have a just jump trampoline park i think which isn't as good as the tramp park in Destin. Destin has more to do overall. Urban Air Trampoline park, an open play gymnastics at certain times, and LOADS of those like waterpark/go cart little mini fair/theme park feeling places. It has way more shopping than PCB from outlets, to designer, to more basic. There's even a splash pad (not as good as PCBs) in the Destin Commons shopping center. It's definitely a more Myrtle Beach vibe in parts and more polished in others. Both are an hour from Ponce De Leon Springs if you want to do that instead of beach one day. I personally prefer the PCB area over Destin, and you're closer to the East End of 30A which is worth a walk around. Rosemary beach has lots of shade for walks, and Alys Beach is worth stopping at Fonville Press for a light bite and driving around the architecture (or walking if it's earrrllyyy morning or late evening in July). But really you'll have fun wherever on either end.

    @theconfusedmom thank you so much for your response! ♡ I saw the headlines about the unfortunate drownings at PCB & that definitely made me nervous! My daughter is 11 & her uncle, who will also be with us, is 7. (lol, odd, I know.) So if the riptides at PCB are extra crazy lately, maybe I shouldn't take the kids there? 😭 The ocean is a scary place! Lol, not to mention the recent shark attacks. Whew, lordy. We will also have my husband's grandmother with us, so she's hoping for a calm, relaxing vibe. Idk. Maybe there's some magical place in the middle of Pensacola & PCB that isn't too crowded, has a relaxing calm beach, but still has a few activities for the kids, while also being extra safe? 😅 maybe you know some hidden gems & can help a girl out! 🙃 I've been online a lot since we decided to take the trip & the whole 30A area is SOOOO cute! At some point I definitely want to check it out. The first half of our trip will be somewhere in the panhandle & then we will travel further down to Sarasota for the second half of our trip. I'm kinda dying to see the siesta key beach. It just looks so lovely. ♡ So honestly, if there's any must-sees between Pensacola & Sarasota, I'd love to hear about them. :) Thanks for mentioning Ponce Deleon Springs! I haven't even heard of it & it looks pretty great! 😍 I'm sorry for the million questions btw! 🤣 I took a trip to Galveston last summer & it was the first time I'd seen the ocean & it was life-changing! Everyone says Galveston is nothing compared to Florida so I know I'm going to be super impressed anywhere I go, but as excited as I am, I'm also extremely paranoid because of all the scary headlines making way! 😅 Okay, I'm going to stop rambling now. Thanks so much for your advice & and recommendations, seriously! ♡

    @@brooke4724 No problem! Yeah so what I was saying, is that the rip currents aren't any crazier in PCB vs Pensacola - both had 3 days of the beaches being closed last week. PCB just makes more headlines because more tourists = more accidents from people not knowing any better while Pensacola is more residential. Same beach conditions generally. So the calm relaxing vibe will 10000% be in Sarasota/Siesta key! A TOTALLY different experience of the gulf than the panhandle! You still have sharks and things but rip currents are not anything like the panhandle and much less frequent. In my next video I also talk about my theory on "why" the shark attacks and things are happening in the spots they are. Really big thing to remember, is just know your limits and don't do more. I've been seeing many more people just sitting at the shoreline where the waves break the last week or so having just as much fun. I have another video on the topic coming out thursday. I would say look at your panhandle stay as more flexible, like if it's a gorgeous beach day enjoy it, but also be ready to drive 30-45 min from PCB or Destin to 30A to explore (because it's worth a walk around). You can check out a coastal dune lake at Camp Helen if in PCB or Grayton more towards Destin, and those are cool - look up the tides and go during high tide for it be clear like the Gulf, low tide will be more lake like. I will say my absolute FAVORITE florida beach is Anna Maria Island which is justttt north of Siesta Key. There's a little spot called Bean Point, that is a MUST SEE if you want to really have your socks blown away. Prettiest beach in the state IMO and I've been to almost all of them at this point lol

  • @brooke4724
    @brooke47246 күн бұрын

    @theconfusedmom oh okay, I understand. Thank you for all your help! I will DEFINITELY be checking out some places you suggested, if not all of them. :) Especially Bean Point! It looks GORGEOUS! 😍 & I will check out all your videos that have anything to do with anything I may need to know from now until our trip! 😊 Thanks again for everything! ♡ I guess my last question is: Is the panhandle worth staying at, or do you think the sarasota area would keep us all entertained the whole 10-day trip/ blow us away beachwise? Cause we could always just head there instead. (after we check out 30A, of course) Or do you think there is something so awesome in the panhandle that I don't want to miss/ can't get in sarasota? You have been so helpful, I can't thank you enough! I'm so glad I was paranoid & decided to look up beach safety tips! 🤣 It must be so wonderful to enjoy those beaches & views every day! 🤩 Anywhere from Northwest Louisiana is a vacation, but I literally can't wait to see your beautiful state! 💛

  • @theconfusedmom
    @theconfusedmom4 күн бұрын

    @@brooke4724 I think to break up the drive it definitely is worth a stop! I would probably more days in Sarasota area. The sharks are going to be everywhere, they it's the gulf in summertime... the rips can happen anywhere with the summer storms, but are significantly more likely in the panhandle. So just have your expectations managed, it's not always calm and crystal clear like like social media shows (but more like the clip I showed with double red, that's how it's looked in the panhandle for the most part the last week). And remember these headlines are NOT the norm/common. Our county gets like 3 million visitors a year, which means like a .00001% chance of something happening to you. If you're stressed/alert, you're already more on your game than most!

    csn t we use bit of oil to unstick the pasta after? Anx how long does it last

  • @theconfusedmom
    @theconfusedmom9 күн бұрын

    For sure! And how long it lasts depends on a bunch of things: if you're playing with it outside where it's hot and humid, it'll last less than inside a cool room. Depending on how much your kids mouth/taste it too would vary. Generally safe food practices say no more than about 2 hours at room temperature for consumption. So you could play with it for a half an hour, put it in the fridge for a day or two, and play with it again for a day.

    Digging holes deeper than the shortest persons knee can cause them to cave in , and bury the child and cause them to suffocate and die. Another thing is when riding on a boat with an inboard motor, there is a risk of open air carbon monoxide poisoning. Not sure if you covered these in the first video!

    I like them but there are a couple of minor complaints i have with them. For one, they spelled one of my sons names wrong because they dont allow the letter "ö", despite it being part of the roman alphabet. its part of swedens roman alphabet, but its still a letter all english keyboards have. Its upsetting that they dont allow it in their books, because theres no reason they couldn't print that letter other than laziness. Its not like i'm asking for hieroglyphics here, you know what i mean? "O" and "Ö" are two entirely different vowels. It's not right to substitute them. My second issue is that they make my kids wear clothes that say "wonderbly" in the illustrations. That is just silly to me. It's like making my kids advertise for them, but the only people reading it are me and my kids, so i really dont get it.

    I have this kit coming in the mail in June and super excited! My kids are still addicted to the Observer toys but I am so so so so bored of these toys hahaha. And a big YES to Sarah’s silks. I already have a hoard of them because they are SUCH beautiful items. So I can’t wait to use them on the fort kit. I will say though, I actually don’t mind that they send smaller sets such as the tea set and the fort kit. Some kids just don’t like any of these, and I feel a bit stupid having a huge set no one is using. I eventually upgraded my kid’s tea set to the Melissa and Doug stainless steel one (it’s AMAZING. Dishwasher safe and food safe!). I figure if my kid likes it, I’ll definitely buy a bigger fort kit. They can also be used with my pikler arch and play couch as extensions.

    The “swastika” symbol that you mention is actually the wheel in Buddhism. The Nazis took the symbol and moved it slightly. If you look at a swastika, it is different than the wheel in Buddhism. I learned this in my art history courses I have a bachelors degree in art history.

    How to homeschool and have toy area if you live in a 2 room town home?

  • @theconfusedmom
    @theconfusedmomАй бұрын

    Get outside! Parks, beaches, libraries etc. you don't have to homeschool in the home. Toy area should be incorporated into your home and doesn't have to be big. Just the setup I showed when I said "if you want a really minimalist playroom this is all you need" And then clear out a corner of a closet for homeschool stuff.

    I honestly dont see the problem with using praise to motivate kids. You used rewards to motivate your daughter and it worked. For some kids, what works may be praise. They really want to see mom or dad proud of them, so praise could give them the push they need. Just because you start praising doesnt mean you continue praising forever and ever. Its just for the initial push and can fade gradually as it becomes a habit.

  • @theconfusedmom
    @theconfusedmomАй бұрын

    I agree praise has a role. And only you know your kids best. While Montessori generally never supported much praise (I did a whole series where I disagree with that and talk about her motivation there); I would argue that you shouldn’t start with it like you said to give an “initial push” because a) if you start there then they have accidents their more likely to cry for disappointing you/not getting the praise and b) if there are any hills to climb you’ve just used a resource in getting over that hill, so that’s one less thing in your tool belt. Wait and see is always my approach then assess from there. And praise IS a reward (which I definitely say in this video or a different one in this series). One of my kids has a Leo moon, they literally need praise and recognition to feel safe. Every kids and situation is different and there always needs to be balance. Just because Montessori says one thing doesn’t mean it’s law/without exception.

  • @daughter_of_yeshua
    @daughter_of_yeshuaАй бұрын

    @@theconfusedmom i can agree with that. I would want intrinsic motivation to be the primary factor, but will definitely employ rewards when necessary to get the job done.
