What cuatom continuous af settings do you use ? Really grear video
June 27 2024. New firmware update for Fujifilm...
The lack of subject separation made me avoid this lens.
8:17 a photographer is supposed to come an hour early to set up anyway
autofocus is not reliable - it is unacceptable - that green square animation gives false positive results- how many years fuji struggels with this issue? from my own experience minimum from x-s10, and their firmware sometimes makes this case even worst,
I've had a good experience with the af on my xt5. But when I use my Canon R5 im reminded of how far they have to go lol
Wonderful presentation ❤
Thanks!
Torn between Xt5 and Xt50 as my first Fuji. I have a Canon R6 Mii that I’m keeping, but trading in my R8 for a Fuji. Use my R6 Mii for mostly sports and getting a Fuji for street, portraits and just daily use. I don’t travel a ton but would use it for travel too. Will you please do a comparison between the XT5 and Xt50? What would you suggest for me? I’m so torn! Ugh.
XT5 would be my choice
Great review! Thank you!
My pleasure!
I'm a little confused by the comparisons. The X-T5 has nearly double the MP than the X-T4. You're zooming in 200% on the images in the comparisons. With this, wouldn't you clearly see the difference in quality (optimized or not) just in the different camera's resolution sizes. 🤷🏻♂️
Any test of this nature is going to be flawed because you can only test an "optimized" lens on two diff bodies, and one has to be a lower res Fuji otherwise you're just testing the same 40mp sensor against itself. honestly, I think Fuji was really silly to even make that list and make such a big deal about it. All it's done is confuse people lol
The film sim dial is a great idea it encourages me to play around more with different looks…..the alternative is an ISO dial but I use auto iso all the time or back to drive dial….again that I set it and use it kind of thing. So the sim dial encourages me to experiment.
This is a great video that answers a lot of questions. I like the design of both cameras, but I too felt that the Nikon was more robustly built. That is not to say that the Fuji was flimsy. It’s a solid camera too. HOWEVER when at B&H Photo I slapped on a Leica 35mm Summicron lens onto the body of the 60 megapixel Leica SL3 and it immediately achieved such a retro look and had such a solid feel to it besides ooozing so much beauty that I very quickly forgot all about both the Fuji and Nikon retro cameras, even going so far as to put the price of the Leica completely out of my mind. Everything that I watched in your tremendous video regarding the Fuji XT-5 and the Nikon Zf was wiped out from my memory as my brain cells were super charged in a completely different direction as I placed my order for the Leica SL3 thus putting myself on a 6 month waiting list, despite the glaring fact that BOTH the Fuji XT-5 and the Nikon Zf were right behind me on their respective display counters and in stock at B&H Photo……….when I left the store with my receipt for the Leica SL3 in hand I felt the warm tears of joy streaming down my face as I was fully prepared to endure the long wait time for that BIRD OF PARADISE that is seldom seen and only heard of, to arrive on my doorstep in 6 months. With all due respect to both the Fuji and Nikon retro styled cameras, in my humble opinion the Leica SL3 with the Leica Summicron 35mm lens attached is the king of all retro cameras combined
I'm shooting a lot of B&W for art projects, including some film work. I have this canera and a couple of lenses on my radar.
Xpro1 FOREVER😎😎😎
After six minutes, still not a single picture that you showed us come on you can do better
Yes but did you wait it out for the pictures? They were well worth the wait! 😁

@@captaincook6283 your loss
you know you can skip forward instead whining
I am leaving a comment, because I loved the video! I also hopefully will receive my XT50 I Pre Ordered and will watch your incoming videos!
Thank you!!
Great video, very much appreciated. Looking forward to your next video!
Thanks for watching!
Very helpful. Thank u
Glad it was helpful!
"it honestly just looks like you learned how to photos in the 90s" haha
Thanks for sharing your thoughts...
New AF is the worst than ever on xt5
I heard they are releasing another update
cool idea, what I likely will do is make C7 Q-menu setting for using this as I normally shoot only RAW...and whatever further settings I want for this situation. I used to have a 100V digital converter was different in that camera
If you go into the settings, you can control the aperture from the lens actually look it up
What if the lens has no aperture ring?
Yeah Pimp Peter! Now for the 85mm 1.2 DS
Haha I'm already eyeballing it!
@@PeteCocoPhoto. don’t give into the pressure. He has been on me for years. Stay strong 😂😂😂
@@MichaelFrederickPhoto hahaha
And 135mm f1.8
my T5 kit with 16-80 should be here in a couple days, Yea I think the optimized lens thing is more marketing for Fuji, I love my Sigma 18-50 f2.8 and Sigma 56mm F1.4 on my S20. SO sharp. Am selling my S20 , more I Hate that flippy screen. I am all photos never use video. I do want the sharper 40mp sensor and cropping is improved also. Plus the EVF is superior to S20 one. I did have a T3 yrs ago. I liked your video showing adjusting the C1-C7 settings, Did like the C1-C3 on the dial of the s20
Thanks! I think you will love the XT5
A really fair review I'd say. Personally, for the difference in size and weight, I'd always go for the interchangeable lens system. An X100VI is 521g inc. card and battery. An XT-5 is 557g inc. cards and battery, body only. The dimensions aren't massively off either (128x75x55mm vs 130x91x64mm in case you're wondering). Stick an XF23mm f2 on the front and you're only adding 180g. Then factor in the pricing and availability. Pay £1600 here in the UK for a space on the waitlist for the X100VI, or head to MPB and get a 'like new' XT-5 and the 23mm f2 for a combined £1700 (even brand new from Fuji that combo is just shy of £1900). That would be my preference, but to each their own. Interesting comments on the rest of it though. I bought an X-H2 recently (I prefer the body/layout to the XT-5) and despite the AF tripping itself up every now and then, I've never been so pleased with my in camera results. I shoot raw and jpeg to different cards but am continually sharing the jpegs straight from the camera. I can't remember the last time I felt the need to grab the raw and tweak it. Acros+G has become my favourite film sim (with classic chrome a close second), and I think it's this ability to get pleasing results immediately that's making me accept the camera can be annoying in other areas, but that the grass won't necessarily be greener on the other side. Great work as always and good to hear some honest opinions. Fuji discussion often seems to be 'it's the best' or 'it's the worst' with nothing in the middle, so it's refreshing to view your content.👍
Thanks so much! I appreciate the feedback and the perspective.
Hi, thanks for the video:) Does it lose focus when you zoom in/out, especially while recording video ? or have you noticed any light change when you zoom in/out during video shooting ? Btw I have XT5 as a body
There won't be a light change shooting manual since the aperture is constant. It's been a while since I reviewed it but I don't remember any excessive focus breathing
@@PeteCocoPhoto I got the lens , yes aperture is constant but if you zoom in/out there is a significant light change, and it loses focus completely on XT5
Why you didn’t include samples of photos made with these lenses?
I just didn't lol. It was an end of year countdown not a full review of each lens. However if you check out my channel there are reviews of all of them in there if not images from all of them.
You mentioned digital artifacts when blowing up the pixel 8 Pro images. Since it is in raw, can you reduce the clarity to eliminate that?
that would def help
This was SO helpful, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I had an XT3 and traded it in out of frustration with is sub par AF. Got a Canon R6, which is far beyond the old XT3.The AF is so good, they must be using extraterrestrial technology. But I miss the small size of the Fuji, especially the lenses. I primarily use my camera for travel, and Canon lenses are really big. Something like the new xf16-50 and the 70-300 would seem like an ideal kit for travel. What would I lose in IQ and percentage of shots with properly focused eyes if I went Fuji again with the XT5?
XT5 is lightyears better in AF performance than XT3, and still lightyears behind Canon LOLOL. I also shoot with an R5, AF is insanely good, the XT5 can still be frustrating at times
@@PeteCocoPhoto Thanks! I think I'll stick to my R6. The RF 24-105 f 4 is reasonably compact and light, and maybe I'll get the compact RF 70-200 f 4. Those two should make for a pretty travel able kit.
Fuji’s tilting viewfinder is so great.
Would love to see someone comment on Fujifilm vs Canon for high ISO performance and low light.
FYI there isn’t a right / left eye selection on xt30ii
good to know; why fuji does this is beyond me
Чувак, когда ты говоришь, что ты профессиональный фотограф и тут же говоришь, что цвета и af одинаковы, то у меня для тебя плохие новости. Тебе очевидно надо проверить зрение)
ok then
Thanks a lot for the very helpful video ! Could you share what light mat with the slim diffuser you're using at 10:25 ? Looks nice.
thanks! yes that's a westcott flex panel. there are many much less expensive options nowadays but I purchased that a number of years ago
@@PeteCocoPhoto Thanks a lot for the info. I have light mats with "fatter" diffusion but I like this slim one. Keep up the good work.
great video, thanks a lot. The one thing i don't really like tbh is if, like you did, you switch "Initial Servo AF pt for..." to the middle option, when in tracking AF mode, you loose the ability to switch between eyes and/or faces. In other words it doesn't give you those arrows that show you you can use the knob to flick between eyes and people....does that make sense? is that not something you would miss when shooting multiple people? thanks
great point, thank you!
"...inkwells or whatever..." bahaha
LOLOL
3:00 minutes and we still do not know what the mistake is....
Haha my "mistake" was trying a GFX in the first place because it showed me what I was missing
My mate has ordered this one for his Sony A6000. I own the Sigma 56 and the Sony A6400. Very curious about the performance of this lens compared to the Sigma. We will swap on lenses on a photowalk. I own three TTArtisan's but they are all manual. I like them, TTArtisan is getting better and better. And I hope they will be competing and getting better in the future so that they can give us more options on the market.
It's great for the price, but the Sigma is definitely ahead in terms of AF performance. That will be a fun and interesting photo walk!
I put mine on servo mode and did the m-fn but it doesn’t focus on the middle. It focuses on random things.
servo mode just means it's gonna continually focus. you still need to pick the focus point mode and whether or not it uses eye detect
Great vid thanks! Subbed.
Thanks for the sub!
My two X-T5's are out in the elements every day photographing real estate. They have been rained on, out in 110 degree weather, wind storms and whatever else Texas can through at them. As of this writing one has 286312 shutters and my backup has 28863 as it's used mainly for video and twilights. These replaced a pair if X-T4's. One died at 1.2 million shutters, and the second is still being used by my Son for real estate and only has 388125 shutters on it.
Awesome
Bollox 😂
I agree your comment is bollox LOL
Did I miss it? Why wouldn’t you show it on the R5 and R6? Weird
I wanted you to use your imagination. 😆 honestly I made this video like 3 years ago it was one of my first ones so there is much I would do differently today
Thanks Pete very concise and clear. My XT5 arrived today so I shall spend some time customising the menus. As someone who is new to Fuji is there any other essentials I should look at? Also what essential gear would you recommend. Off to Ireland in a few weeks so I want to get some incredible shot.
Glad the video helped! Here is one where I discuss accessories: kzread.info/dash/bejne/X3Vn0cmxhq7eldI.html There are a LOT of great lenses for Fujifilm, and many excellent third party options. Check out the Viltrox and Sigma lenses as well as the Fuji lenses.
After the firmware update 6.00 was put on my H2S, I've found that the autofocus was not as good as previously, especially for bird detection with the new 150-600mm : the H2S struggles a lot more and often misses focus.
This is not good. It doesn't seem like Fuji has acknowledged anything is wrong with the firmware. I haven't heard anything at least.
The most common sense commentary I've heard about photography. So refreshing. I take the same approach when photographing my subjects. As long as i like what I'm producing and the client is happy with the results it's a good day
Awesome, thank you Gary!
Hey Pete. Do you shoot in HSS or do you use an ND filter when using such a low aperture
Hey Gary, most of the time if I'm shooting wide open it's with continuous light so I don't need an ND filter. I just crank up the shutter speed. I do use HSS on occasion as well.
Thanks for the review Pete, enjoyed it. I am rather impressed with Sigma quality and also find them in general better than other 3rd party lenses. Have a good one
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the review.
