Mountain Mike

Mountain Mike

Thanks for joining me! I'm Mountain Mike. Follow me in my journey of off grid living and the start of my sawmill business. I show the start of my sawmill business with the assembly of my NORWOOD LM29V2 / LM30 Sawmill. Then I start addressing the ins and outs of the Sawyer lifestyle while throwing in some off grid living videos occasionally.

I hope you can sit down with me and be a part of this Sawyer Community. Let us do this thing together. This, that separates us from the others. This making of sawdust and fine wood product for all to behold. Let us build it one board at a time together.

This is the living memoirs of a modern mountain man.

Well, I'm Mountain Mike out on the mountain. Till next time.

    It would have been a great review if you killed the music during assembly and described what you were doing. You may have some food info. But the music and the screen affects were nothing but a distraction.

    Found this video via a search for Yintatech. I ordered a 3 point trailer hitch from them through their store on Amazon. First, it said it shipped. Then it said it was delayed, but my card wouldn't be charged until it shipped. This turned out to be false. Their charge showed up on my statement on the same day it was ordered. After the promised delivery date, the tracking message then said the item was 'Undeliverable' without any detail as to why it was undeliverable. There were no issues on my end; I received other deliveries from Amazon during the same period without issue. A week after the original promised delivery date, the tracking status message changed to, "Unfortunately, a problem occurred with your shipment and we no longer expect it to be delivered," without explanation as to why a product already charged to my credit card will never arrive and why no refund was issued. So far, no response from them. Amazon requires you have 48 hours of back and forth with their sellers before Amazon's refund guarantee kicks in. Out of hundreds of purchases through Amazon across more than a decade, I've never had an experience like this. Despite their claim that it was first delayed, then undeliverable, I'm now reasonably certain it never shipped because I looked in on Amazon reviews for Yintatech and discovered another Amazon customer is having an identical experience where the shipping status was changed to "Undeliverable" on the same day as the shipping status changed on my order. What really infuriates me now is the status has changed again to 'Order Cancelled.' It damn sure wasn't cancelled by me. I've checked again and the charge is still on my card! Whatever prior positive experiences customers had ordering from Yintatech's store through Amazon, those days are over. Their status updates are deceitful and this Chinese conglomerate has zero integrity. Amazon shoppers should *avoid Yintatech like the plague* and look for the product they're interested in from another Amazon seller or elsewhere altogether.

    @@MountainMike01 I did get my refund! What's comical is that after I got the refund, they messaged me to ask that I change my review, "because the issue was resolved." Resolved? LOL! They never delivered a product and the only reason I got a refund is because I spotted the charge and jumped hoops for days. They're forever 1 star in my book and the fact Amazon never responded to my complaint gives me concerns about Amazon. They didn't appear to care. Going forward, if a product isn't shipped by Amazon where they'd have knowledge of inventory and availability, and will use their own shipping channels, I'm not rolling the dice and ordering it. Cheers!

    A piece of chain or cable with each end attached to the top rail of your trailer about 1/4 of the way in from each end of the trailer and the loop of chain or cable pulled out under the log will address the issue where the log stops rolling. Hook up your winch to the center of that loop thereby pulling the chain up and forming a cradle of sorts to keep the log rolling true. Hope that helps

    Why do you need a rebuild kit every time you open up the carburetor and clean it?

  • @MountainMike01
    @MountainMike01 Жыл бұрын

    Well, you don't unless the diaphragm / gaskets are no good or you tear them up getting the carb apart. That is the stuff that is the problem with the carbs most of the time. The additives in the gas make them hard and brittle so it doesn’t work correctly. That and the needle sticking. When your done, run it out of gas or use an engineered fuel for storage is the best bet. Thanks for the question.

    I'm not a mechanical genius, but I do alright. The HD36V2 with power options has been an unpleasant experience for me. My employer purchased it and I've been assembling the mill between projects. Now, it's finally assembled, but still needs further adjustment. The deck gets hung up on the uprights coming down, haven't gotten the engine to to turn over, etc. Instructions weren't the worst and I started the assembly with a few backordered trailer options, but I have taken a few things apart just to put them back together. Seems like it might end up being a nice piece of equipment, but I'm not a fan of the multiple piece frame and some other trivial things from the manufacturing process of the components. I'm glad there are tutorial videos on the similar model of this one. Had I not watched them I think I would have made a few more errors during assembly. Tips and tricks from consumers is something that I think will grow with these mills.

  • @MountainMike01
    @MountainMike01 Жыл бұрын

    Well, in the video I list several reasons. But the one that is the big reason for me would be that it is less bulky. I have gotten myself hung up pretty bad working in tight areas in the trees. The box blade is like a fish hook around trees. Not to mention all of the things I have hit with it. Or you can carry around a brush hog off the back and have plenty of weight but what about tighter spaces? Never seems to be enough room for tractor work in my option . Those type of implements stick way out and there is always something in the way. Thanks for the comment!

I packed my Dremel stuff away and put the files in the drawer for when I need them for other projects. Some try to suggest the 2 in 1 is just a gimmick. In truth it's a brilliantly engineered precision sharpening tool. The cheap fakes sold everywhere are NOT the same. I tried two from different Chinese makers and both are worthless. In fact they can destroy a chain. The Stihl tool itself and files are of top quality. The fakes are comprised of inferior materials and often don't even properly lineup with the cutter and depth gauge. Nice to-the-point video. Thanks

    More work than needed to remove carb. No need to take vacuum plug off, top of handle, and the black kill rod. Just unhook both the kill and the throttle linkage where they attach to the carb. If you're doing a rebuild on an aftermarket carb you're wasting your time. Spend 30$ and buy an stihl OEM and slap it on in 15mins. You'll get 3xs the life out of it but most importantly than anything is using quality gas and when you're aren't going to use it for an extended amount of time go out and start it up routinely and let it idol for a few minutes to keep fresh gas in the carb.
