Saw my first cybertruck the other day, man it looks like shit in real life, all dull and sharp angles, the windows are so strangely shaped i wasnt sure how you actually could see out of it properly. The whole point of a truck is everything is bigger but it had no bed space, tiny windows and looked like a low poly render

Delete me? How do we know the THEY have our data and how do we know that folks at delete me are actually deleteing this data. The only way to be sure is to use fake personal details that do not matter if anyone steals them.

I used to be a car centric person my whole life. Living in Düsseldorf, Germany, I never really needed a car, but I still was against the Green party and pro-car. Now I am severely disabled and kinda dependent on cars, since we sadly live in an ableist world, but the change in my lifes circumstances made me rethink a lot of my world views. I now vote green and am against personal transportation and pro public transportation. Weird how things go sometimes. I even consider joining the glue children (not those who sniff glue at the main station - do poor children still do this? Gosh, I am getting old, i guess) in their protest and glue my wheelchair onto a street with them.

Boatbuilder here. Concrete boats are a real thing and work quite well. With enough displacement, anything can be used to make a boat. Plus, the advantage of making a boat out of concrete is that it gets stronger with age. The disadvantage is that repairs are difficult and are not done by most boatbuilders. I've sailed on two concrete sail boats, and they're great 👍

i wholeheartedly believe musk came up with this on a whim with the hope of getting it in Cyberpunk 2077. maybe as Vs personal car. that’s why he has all this crazy bullshit in it and rushed it out as soon as possible. he was fully expecting everyone to bend over backwards. he was fully expecting CDPR to think it’s the coolest shit and make it a feature in their game.

Yeah, because nothing makes you more independent from a corrupt government than spending your life living inside a larger, stationary Porta-potty in the middle of the ocean where you have no sufficient access to food and security. Also it's fairly easy to just cut delivers off so you'll end up begging in the darkness for a fraction you would've normally gotten. Overall, that idea SOUNDS nice, but isn't that the point of an idea.

The other thing is because it doesn’t crumple if you crash into someone the force of the collision keeps going to the inside of the car instead of the crumpling absorbing part of the force.

Can you imagine the sheer nightmare it would be to be inside one of these in the middle of ocean during a storm? The building sized waves would obliterate this thing.

I renovate houses. I just started on a new jobsite at the Jersey shore. The wind and the salty water and ocean spray is something that causes a lot of corrosion on buildings. For example: materials that would last 30 years or more in Philadelphia last 10 years tops in Atlantic City. I made a random guess and said that the electrical service at the house looks to be 10-15 years old. In reality it was only 3 years old! The rusted gas pipes were something that I could have sworn were 50 years old, yet they had been installed within the past 10 years. The copper pipes, far from being the oldest I've seen, were the most corroded I have ever seen. There's a reason a lot of materials, compounds, sealants, and lubricants have to be "marine rated" for use at oceanfront properties or on boats. I don't think these fever-dream projects will be getting many investors like my employer, people who are familiar with owning and maintaining shore properties!

"Oh no the drone noise inconveniences me" *in accent*. Bick, my poor student butt has lived next to highways, railyards, and airports. You "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" and DEAL with it. Also, are you kidding me about the safety? If they are tech bros with money, they probably bought automated guns, if they are libertarians who somehow got rich, they have a stockpile of munitions because they just WISH a MFer would.
