S&S Horseshoeing - Maverick Vet Service
Hey! Thanks for stopping by our channel!
Here you'll find videos on trimming and shoeing horses, forging handmade horseshoes, therapeutic horseshoeing, tips and tricks for other farriers, and some veterinary cases.
My name is Sheldon Thomas. I am a Veterinarian and Certified Journeyman Farrier with the American Farrier's Association. I was born and raised in a small town in Southeastern Arizona, USA. I am currently working as a mixed animal veterinarian in Washington and keep busy horseshoeing on the side. Between that and spending time with my family, my time is pretty well spoken for. My wife and I have been married for seven years and we have three little boys.
Ride like the wind and God bless!

❤ glad to hear from you. But any updates,?
Great job explaining I just got X-rays my horse rotated thanks for sharing
I hope you will answer this. I have a 17 year old severely foundered with rotated coffin bone. Well I can’t attach a picture. The toe is so rolled that it looks like it is 4” from the hair line. It looks way too short. Is there a point where this is necessary? Farriers are far and few between around here
Excellent!!! Super x-rays and line diagrams! Finally, I understand laminitis and founder. Just found your channel and subscribed and belled. Thank you for great videos. Have never had horses (I wish). I am just very interested in all things in veterinarian medicine. Best from Cleveland, Ohio
The bit that the dog takes is like the toenail of the horse right? Its not a horse shoe...
For some reason watching stuff like this gives me goosebumps. Idk why 😕
Is it safe for the dog to eat that
Zzzzz
Dog caught stealing a treat on camera
Cool
that was very good, happy you are tip top and back at it, I suppose its all about 'one thing at one time'
I’m a farrier and I know you are doing good work ! As far as the giveaway goes how about farrier tools ? Set of chaps or shaping hammer etc ?

Seat of corn is the point of highs in heel! Frog sulcus and collateralgroove are to be cleaned and thrush needs to be treated!
Is the dog eating the toenails?
The care that goes into a horse is amazing. It seems to be an expensive ventrue. Pinto Bean si so calm. Good Job
I hope the horse is healed now ❤. Spero che il cavallo sia guarito adesso ❤.
*intense breathing* me: .-.
❤️❤️🔥🔥 you are almost a mechanical engineer! So glad you went there
Idek why i wanted to watch this
I can barley hear your breathing and if I did hear it I still wouldn’t care don’t listen to these people lol
The only other animal that has a body part named after a different animal is humans. 🫏
Seeing you step in the horses’ shit is the most unsatisfying thing ever
How do you sharpen your hoof knife.
Carrollton Miss.
Your wife lost costudy i see
Before cutting take look needed, why don't you, maybe you're expert😁
seeing as to the horse doesn't flinch at all looks like a good job and painless for sure.
Congrats on DVM, awesome !
I can watch horses getting trimmed at least 4 hours no rest
Walking on their toes is not correct
No shoes no stilettos all wrong they need that toe wall
Why are you rasping outer wall?
Look up Lindsay Setchell on correct laminitic rehab
It’s not correct to take the toe
It’s going to look long and that’s ok horse needs its toe wall
The disease is sugar and obesity, keep them on hay, no grass allowed
It’s all diet induced no grass
Yes! Heels down to hard sole plane
Nooooooo this isn’t correct. Horse needs the pillar of support leave the toe wall to support the new growth and take heels down to hard sole plane. Tie shopping causes the stiletto appearance to the pedal bone. Check out Lindsey Serchell Hoof Marvelous to see all the laminitis rehabs.
I think yall can stop reminding us it dosent hurt😅 i bet everyone that watches hoof cleaning already knows that
I searched this with out my shirt on at like 2 A.M
sure takes a lot of work to take care of horse hoofs. If I had a horse, I would think that the horse hoof should be looked at once a week for sure to keep an eye on them
The doggy❤
My farrier did what you're doing - chopping off toe and shaving front of hoof and all it did in the end was cause total distortion of the hoof and caused him to walk tip toe on his sole right over P3 which ended up killing him. The capsule begins to rotate NOT P3....the horse needs his whole hoof to heal not removal of the toe and front of the hoof wall which causes him to walk on sole and cause more DAMAGE! Your experience and "opinion" is killing horses - some may recover but at what cost and level of unneeded pain. Leave the toe - trim to hard sole plane, trim heels and LEAVE ALONE to grow out right!
Do you ever do a mustang roll on your horseys hooves?
This guy is breathing like hes being held at gunpoint to clean this hoove Or hes just scared he might slip up and hit himself in the nuts
What the heck are you on about? Caudal pain and nav disease can be two very different things....
Heck yes -if you've got time and permission from owner s ..share away...you young man are a rear gem - vet and farrier wrapped in one
My anxiety thinkingbhe will accidentally cut too deep :
The dog just wanted a treat
