Today I am Collaborating with a veterinarian to shoe a horse recovering from a heel bulb laceration. For the sake of time I have sped up the whole process.     I've always found it fascinating how a ferrier can take a peice of bar stock and turn it into a horse shoe. You made it look so easy. I think that's why I picked up blacksmithing, being able to mold steel with heat and a hammer. You do amazing work.

    @@gordieevans2263 right, which is why prodigies exist edit: sorry, child prodigies* this mate's probably in his early 20s i'm 16 and already hold more artistic skill than most 20-30 year olds i meet, and i'm not even that good there are 9 year olds in college, 12 year olds inventing believe it or not, there are people with naturally born ability to do things its called disposition i've just gotten used to it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Oh bless you,, I once had a gelding who went through a severe version of this. I found him with his hoof hanging off. Very scary! Fortunately we had a decent vet and farrier and he went on for a further 25 years without limping

    @@BentleyS6336 i would only imagine he probably broke it off somehow it could've gotten stuck in a fence or between some rocks maybe got spooked by something, and ran through something that injured him (like rabbits do)

    KZread’s recommended has taught me how to saw off deformed antlers off a deer, horseshoeing and how to make a profit by selling feet pictures, 3am is a breed of its own and I’m all for it 🤠

    1:40 ah yes, gotta be kind and gently convince it to stay together, like a healthy marriage. Can't use brute force to keep that couple happy. The flux is like the kids, just extra glue to keep the house together. No idea why I thought this was a fitting analogy. I am not married, I do not do any metal work and I have never had a horse. Still real neat to see though!

    Sometimes i think to myself "hey, i wanna do that" youre living a simple life and you get to be with animals and then i realize if i were to be in his shoes without any prior knowledge i would get kicked by a horse if i touched its hooves

    I've always lived and been raised, taking care of pigs, chickens and such animals. Never had horses though. Just focused on them kinda animals, and vehicles for demos and such. But even though I've never EVER taken care of a horse you've drawn me in with your amazing work and personality. Great work man, and I love the things you're doing helping this animals

    Very lovely work. I grew up on a ranch and now a veterinarian technician mainly for large animals. But I love how many think that blacksmithing means being hard and super strong. Yet you have to have a super gentle touch. Haven't met a farrier that didnt have a soft touch with every aspect in life.

    Sheldon my hat goes of to you. You are a proper hand in the fire. I worked on making bar shoes for a long time when I was trying to get my Cjf. All I managed to do was mangle up 500 feet of barstock

    Hooves are so fascinating! I rode horses as a small child but never knew the extent of the care that goes into their feet, and just how weird yet interesting hooves are lol. Thanks for sharing your craft.
