@@sofieagni9582 Every horse has a problem having their feet picked up off the ground, just like all horses take issue with someone or something ....jumping on their backs. These are....by nature, a flight animal. They have been made to fear anything that may take them off their feet, so in trying to take care of our horses, we must unteach them what nature has taken hundreds of thousands of years teaching them. Everything we do to a horse is exactly the opposite of what nature tells them is okey. I'm not just winging my response either. I've been training horses....including mustang straight from the mountains.....for over half my life....more than 20 years. I'm a professional that also teaches horses to stand for the future ferrier. Horses have been my life....not just a hobby....or passing fancy.

Definitely my old boy has had the same farrier for 20+ years who before being his farrier was a jockey that you used to ride him in Adelaide at the Derby (my horse is 27). He gets so excited whenever he sees him and causes a big fuss at the stables to see his old mate. Jasper loves to show off afterwards, epecially after I've put on his oil.

I'd like to say, I've only seen two other channels that clip and care for a horse's hooves. You are, in my humble opinion, the best of them. I never mind hearing the labored breaths because it reminds me that I am watching a real human being that is doing some very toilsome work; and doing it in a very professional, friendly and satisfying way. Thank you very much for sharing these videos with us, and for all the care and dedication you so obviously put into caring for the each of the horses.

I’m a 16 year old girl who trains mini ponies to make money, and I’ve recently started to trim their hooves myself to get max profit :) I usually trim them a day or two before our farrier comes out to trim our other horses and I get him to check over my work because I’m still starting out. Anyway, I like watching your videos because I think observing is an important aspect of experience and getting better at something. So thank you!

If you have NEVER tried to trim a.horse foot, you are at an odd position, the position of the horse is not normal, and the strength of the farrier is demanding. When i was low on funds i trimmed my horses and developed a huge respect for what they do. Especially the requirement of odd back angles is not appreciated enough! Showed me that was a job i never wanted in my future.

The Frog: The frog acts as a shock absorber for the foot when it makes impact with the ground, decreasing the force placed on the bones and joints of the leg. The frog is also an important part of the horse's circulatory system - it pumps blood up the horse's leg each time the frog makes contact with the ground. Something you might want to talk about. You have a lot of watchers with no horse experience that like the channel that seem interested. Next bad one you get film it. Most don't understand how hard this work is, 1000 to 1500 pounds of horse leaning on you and just might kick you across the barn yard.

I'm a retired professional mountain biker that rode 400+ miles a week training. I retired from it and wanted to trim and shoe my own horses. So I gave up shaved legs and I thought cycling really hurt......holy shit this is hard work. I went through farrier school and now shoe horses on the side. If you think his breathing is hard, just get under a horses and tell us how you feel. Just go trim a foot,, just one foot and let us know? Now, leave that barn and go put shoes on 5 more. Now.....you have two left for the day and finish them up. Its one of the hardest thing I have ever done besides riding a mountain bike for 24hrs and 167 miles later in West Virginia mountains. Its the closest thing to how your body will feel like. Its painful at times......breathing hard because your holding up half the horse. Nice trim......well done

I will always be thankful for farriers. I got my horse as a rescue when I was a kid, and every so often he’d go lame. Vet visits showed nothing wrong so they thought he was just faking it. I ended up giving him to a woman who was experienced with horses as we couldn’t care for him anymore due to our local boarding house tripling their prices. She got an old-time farrier to come out to look at his feet. He noticed a weird bump which he picked at a bit, and out comes a 6 inch nail! That poor horse had a nail in his hoof for 6 years, and it was a farrier who found it. He galloped so much after that pain was relieved. So thank you for helping out all these animals.

Things I’ve learned since recently subscribing: you’re the only 1 of all the farrier videos (that now pop up on my feed) that bevels the edge when you trim the hoof and I critique them when they don’t, you make it look sooo much easier than all the others I’ve seen, and the sound of your file going across the hooves makes my teeth hurt (like nails on a chalkboard 🤷🏻‍♀️), but I can’t help but watch anyway. Keep it up. I’ve learned so much!!
