Mark Williams Sea Angling
Follow me on my journey discovering new and varied species whilst learning how to fish popular areas and share the up and downs of coastal fishing.
My local area consists of the Solent and Southampton water but in my quest for different species I will travel far and wide to experience all that UK coastal waters offer.
I am a keen amateur and so there will be many aspects of what I do open to critisism. I appreciate all positive comments and look forward to learning from other like minded anglers on the quest for improving yours and my success rates.
I have now purchased my dream boat, a Warrior 165 and will add boat fishing videos on a regular basis.
Please feel free to comment and ask questions, there are plenty of subscribers that may be able to help if my limited knowledge isn’t enough.

Were was this. Park shore?
@@jamessibley6040 yes it was.
Hi do you sell rigs
@@DerekThomas-Davies-rb4gl sorry but I don’t sell rigs, I hardly have the time to make my own sometimes. 😂
Am disabled and fish around west wales the video you posted shows a number of rigs am interested in We have lots of hounds
Bass flats etc the one up and down look the part
@@seaangling I understand that’s keep the good work up m8
@@DerekThomas-Davies-rb4gl I like to use a short pulley or the up and over for hounds.
Class session ..great viewing well done pal 👍
@@multirickus thank you. Very much appreciated.
Which bait did you catch the fish on?
another great video mark keep them coming
@@jefferyhiggins5458 cheers buddy.
Great session Mark and congratulations on the pb. Still enjoying the rods mate.
Thank you, love the way the rods interact. Show the smallest of bites but handle big fish.
Eazy mark you ok pal, nice one for the footage again. Well done on your new p.b. it is still flounders n sole for me of the last loads of sessions. I seem to he the flatfish magnet since February I don't no what's happening lol. All the best from G.Y
Hounds on rag!! Wow I've had hounds on squid and crab obviously and blacks but never on rag well done you
I’ve had the most hounds on chunks of squid closely followed by hard back crab. Ragworm was edging my bets but paid off. 🦈🎣👍🏻
It locked out 12lb-8oz well done.
I’ll have to put a new set of scales on my Christmas list.
Great video Mark and also great to meet you at lymington looking forward to more of your vids
Difficult filming this one purely because of the light. The best part is always meeting new people with similar interests, glad you enjoyed it. 🦈🎣👍🏻
Well done on the shore pb hound that mark produces bigger hounds
That is why I fish there. 😉🦈🎣👍🏻
Cracking session Mark, conditions looked really still and the mighty rag come through with no fancy cocktails required! Congratulations on the shore PB too, gives us all some hope of big fish from the shore.
It doesn’t have to be fancy but it does take more than one visit sometimes. I’ll be doing another hound video soon right back to basics and using hard back crab which is possibly one of the easiest baits to collect. 🦈🎣👍🏻
Good to see a nice smoothy I had one about the same size when I saw you there the other night in that spot 👍
I had to go back and have another go as I didn’t do so well the night I saw you. That spot does seem to hold fish. 🦈🎣👍🏻
Don't blame you I couldn't make it back so going to wait till the tides get better. It is a good little spot gets them coming in and out 🎣🐟
Missed your vids buddy, well done on the Pb 🎉
My apologies Steve, a month without uploading feels like a long time. I fished this mark 2 days previously and couldn’t get past the weed, persistence paid off. 🦈🎣👍🏻
Lovely hounds Mark , I've had a couple of Hounds around the 8 lb mark but no double figures yet, another great watch, keep it reel , look forward to ya next adventure.
Cheers Rick, nice to hear from you. The Solent does seem to hold a good population of hounds that are of a decent size. The British shore record came from the Meon area. I must admit that lighting was an issue on this session which I am trying to sort out. Take care. 🦈🎣👍🏻
Beautiful hounds. Congratulations 🐳🐳🐳👍👍👍
Thank you Chris, these were particularly feisty and fighting fit. 🦈🎣👍🏻
Not using you're Casting Specials Mark?
For clean ground I prefer the fathom SD 12’s and I’ve gone down in line diameter to ASSO ultra-cast 14lb. When I do use the CS’s I have them loaded up with 20lb mainline but not as often. I did take them to Norway where they worked really well.
Well done mate on the pb lovely session like you work etc has kept me of the beach managed a nice bream 2 weeks ago, i am down your way middle of july if you want to meet up aiming to get a couple sessions in while down there great video mate tight lines
Drop me a message the week before you visit this way and I’ll see what I can do with work. Hoping for some settled weather and for this wind to do one.
Will do mate does make it hard when it is howling up or along the beach weather is settled during work hours and picks up when you are off nightmare
Is this down Lepe ? Had a few there before and decent rays.
This was the Beulieu estate at Park Shore.
Well done Mark, a few lovely fish and a PB 🦈🦈👍
Always nice to get a PB but also just as good to hit your target. The running paternoster worked well when the weed was running. 🎣👍🏻
Way to go bud nice fishing 🎣
Cheers Dave, it’s been a bit slow recently but I have been absorbed chasing a specific type of fish. 🦈🎣👍🏻
Well done Mark. Glad u got a pb. Hoping to catch a few in the next few days in Norfolk
Cheers Paul. Are you due a trip to Wales for the Tope any time soon?
Not really thought about it Mark. Its finding the time due to work.
Well done Mark on the pb mate
There are bigger out there but you have to put the time in. Any size they always give a good account of themselves.
Nice one Mark. Definitely going to give the running pat a try!
When distance isn’t important and the tide is running loaded with weed, it does seem to work. At HW slack the pulleys had the edge.
Hi Mark, Nice fish, well done.. Which mark mate? I fished Hill Head last Wednesday, 2 x doubles 12 & 13 ib, in 3 hours, on spider peelers, best nights fishing of my life !
Hill head and Meon are fishing well, Hamble less so. Spider peeler is a killer bait as they are inshore and moulting atm. This session was Park Shore as Meon was packed wall to wall with anglers. I believe there was an 18lb caught recently in the area. 😉
Also @paulapaula2011 congratulations on a top session. I bet those reels were screaming and rod tips bouncing. 🦈🎣👍🏻
Great session Mark, keep the videos coming!
Cheers Charlie 🎣👍🏻
Good job very good job I like what you did thank you😅😅
Thank you Alonzo, hope it helps. 🎣👍🏻
Thanks for starting from the beginning! Invaluable to a novice. Keep up the good work. Cheers.
You are very welcome. I have started doing species specific films that I will build on over time. My hope is they will help others that have specific targets or are fishing a location that holds a certain type of fish. 👍🏻🎣
N vm
?
Just invested in a few packs of these, the aero pulleys, termalinks and the kicker bait clips rather than the roto ones. Quite often use pulley rigs myself too, although when i get around to tying them i think I'll still be using beads either side of the slider👍
Where do I get the weight bags mate ?
They are made by TronixPro so their website and I think Veals stock them. 👍🏻
Only ever caught small eyed of of the boat and never had much success with sand eel of of the beach. Great fish Mark tight lines
We have depleted stocks of sand eel along the south coast but they can be a very effective bait. I did have 3 blondes to the boat in 15 minutes on sand eel.
Brilliant fishing mark really enjoyable watching thanks
Glad you enjoyed it Dave, it can be a cracking mark to fish. 🎣👍🏻
This guy is good to watch for casting surf rod/reels. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hI2T2dSfddDLaMY.htmlsi=b96qtTeAZK7M-8Ga
Another gem Mark. I'm yet to catch a small eye ray, taking boat out Sunday weather permitting been hard between work and bad weather also hydroliiics on me trim packed up but after letting out air and refilling oil it's all good.🙏all will be good week end
These persistent and reoccurring storms have been horrible. Glad you got your engine sorted. There have been a lot of small eye about recently. 🎣👍🏻
Great session Mark , hope I have one like that soon .
We all hope don’t we? We all put the time in. We all prep our kit. We all watch the weather and plan the tides. And sometimes we get lucky 😂
Banging sesh that 🎣🌊
Nice when they are that busy. 🎣👍🏻
Okay mark thanks for the info. 👍
Well done Mark, great session , great to see you back , keep the content coming please.
It was a busy session and a welcome relief compared to the doldrums we’ve had recently. Plenty planned for this year 😉🎣👍🏻
Nice one Mark looking forward to it. I have been looking at the Penn fathom 2 and listening to you and seeing how they perform looks like I will be getting one thank you. 🐟👍
If you are considering the casting specials it would be worth also checking out the fathom 12 SD’s. I cast further with those than I do the CS’s.
Great video Mark very interesting on how to set up and get it right and take your time. 🐟👍
I will be doing some variations on these videos this year and will include some fixed reel films to help those starting out. Tight lines 🎣👍🏻
Love the video Mark, well done ❤
Cheers Steve, I hope you are well. 🎣👍🏻
Nice session and hopefully sign of things to come 👍
Let’s hope the hounds are inshore soon, can’t wait. 😜🦈🎣👍🏻
Nice session and great vid there mate. Where's the best place to park down there please?.
All of the car parks are right on the beach front but there is also on street parking if you don’t want to pay. Just means a slightly longer walk. Free parking at Milford and combination car park/on street for Hordle - Barton.
Thanks very much.
Thank for this series Mark, really nice natural presenting. I’m just starting my shore fishing/casting adventure and found lots of great info.
You are very welcome Jim. My only goal is to share what I do and help others as I’ve been helped. What area/location are you fishing?
@@seaangling I’m originally from a small west coast village some have heard of called Lochaline, but now based down in the central belt outside Glasgow. Hoping to fish the Clyde and sound of mull when I’m up home.
@@Teuchter-Jim I lived in Glasgow for a couple of years and my first common skate from the shore was caught at Lochaline.
@@seaangling growing up there I always had access to boats, other than spinning from the pier never really shore fished, no boats now so I’ve got to adapt.
The much belied sand eel strikes gold Mark, an overlooked bait and well deserved haul for you. Also the rarer cold northerly in April also a factor keeping the swell down for a change of wind cross tide Congrats on another top video
I think the sand eel is overlooked by some but they are an amazing bait over sand or light shingle. I have had some amazing results off the boat with them as well. Cheap and easy to store/carry but their numbers are in decline and they are not always easy to get good ones. I’ve been told there are huge ships out there harvesting them in massive numbers. 🤷♂️
Cracking fishing session. Rays are rapidly becoming my favourite fish. Amazing creatures. Great video. 🐳👍👏
I love a ray, a really interesting fish to catch from the shore.
Would be nice though 😂😂🐟🎣
