The long term test will be the teller and see how the kit lasts after a realistic period of use. I’ll happily report back once it has been put through its paces, I’m sure Norway will be a test. 🎣👍🏻

Great video Mark, following our recent exchange I bought a set of Daiwa Sleepskins and Reed Chillcheater Storm Jacket and Trousers from Veals. Great fit, incredibly warm and both sets well made. Looking forward to regularly using them during the winter. Really appreciate your videos, honest, practical and always from the anglers perspective! Thank you.

I’d be very interested to hear how you get on with them long term as other peoples perspective can always add to the mix. Did you find the sizing ok and the Daiwa stuff is almost like instant heat.

@@seaangling The sizing on the Daiwa gear is pretty accurate, the Chillcheater jacket is a very generous cut but will be good for casting and mooching about on the beach, trousers are a good fit for me. I haven’t got the comfort adaption so we’ll see how that goes!

@@billstone3629 I did have a couple of bespoke options available as they actually made them whilst I was there.

spot on,i use a imax all in one under suit,milwaukee battery heated gillet and a floation suit(fladen sail version) never had any problems,i once bought a scierra thrmal outfit and i was cold all the time so i gave it to my son who say's its red hot so we are all different and im usually cold most of the time

The heated clothing available now is a real game changer for those that have reduced circulation or just don’t react well to the cold. I use to have a heated gillet under my motorbike clothing and it was amazing.

@@seaangling I rarely use it but it’s there just in case. I don’t do cold although it’s the best time of year to fish.I paid £43 for my sealskinz but i only use them for winter as they are the extreme version and they are fantastic

The sizing does allow for normal layering up underneath. I bought mine and then lost some weight so it may look a bit more generous than intended.

Great review Mark. Thought the Reed gear was very impressive; and it’s made in the UK! Merino wool undies are definitely the way to go. Natural fibre which wicks moisture well and controls B O. Cotton acts like a sponge. It would be really interesting to know which gloves you would recommend. Thanks again.

I haven’t tried the Marino stuff so I can’t really comment but my interest has been sparked and I suppose I should give it a go. I think I’m blessed as I’ve never really been a sweaty person so always got on well with cotton.

Can I suggest using merino t and shorts under the sleepskins as it retains insulation properties even when wet from sweat and it wicks better. Would never use cotton as the adage goes"cotton kills" as it retains moisture.

I’ve never been a sweaty type but I totally understand the wicking properties of other kit. We use to wear a “smelly helly” back in the day for that exact reason. I’ve heard good things about the Marino Wool base layers but not tried them myself yet. 🎣👍🏻

Mark, I'm. Not usually one for commenting so I'll leave all my thoughts in one hit. Great upload as per usual with your content. I always love the outro too oddly. Kind of makes it more personal as a content creator. Rather than the boring fade out sort. Next, I don't know how you get away with all your fishing purchases. My wife calls in MI5 and 6 to investigate me if I so much as buy a shore cast weight. 🤣 Just an idea you may already have pondered. Have you considered contacting Billy's fishing channel regarding Norway? He's a local to over there and could place you at a perfect mark to test out the new rods used at poole with Shane. Lastly, I promise. I'd one day like to see a what got you started out, where's your personal favourite place. No need to give the mark its self up, but what took you down this path to KZread you likes, dislikes etc. Not pushy I hope. Just believe you believe fully in sharing your fishing experiences so why not share what got you here and fishing in the first place. I started out at 16 given my first beach rod and now the wrong side of 50.sitting out on starry cold nights. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Thanks kindly for reading this rather long comment. The one thing I like the most is the interaction and conversations with other fishermen like yourself. My personal fishing has benefitted immensely and opportunities have arisen that I wouldn’t have dreamed of previously. My family are all linked to the sea, my granddad was a canvas suited brass helmet salvage diver and commercial fisherman. My other granddad was in the merchant navy and always spent time on boats. My fishing journey started very young on lakes, rivers and my local estuary’s. Fishing as a kid turned into ocean going as an adult and my Naval service had me travelling the world. Upon retirement I fell into KZread by accident and still feel very surprised anyone would want to watch what I do but I love to share it. 🎣👍🏻

Lovely review Mark... Can I ask why there's a little bit of concern with man made fibres direct on skin especially on the sweat parts of the body. I think I know why, but never heard anything discussed about that? Also as a River coarse angling chap, I'm guessing that gear would be too much, to walk & move swims throughout the day... Would I be right in thinking it's more suited to static situations akin to what you sea anglers do on the beaches? 👍

Some people react badly to man made fibres and it can cause a rash or acne depending on the person and use. For the majority it’s fine and used widely in part or totally in clothing. There are other concerns with man made fibres but I try to avoid politics or inflammatory personal views. I think the carp community is well served with their kit and clothing which to be fair can be gentler with more protection than on a large beach in weather. I would sway towards goretex outer and warm layers for carping but I am not very experienced with it.

Great jackets just watch the zips £50 to get them replaced

You must have read my mind as I've just started looking for some winter clothing and boots. I'm about to press the trigger on a pair of Grubs 8.5. but torn between vass and chilleater for the clothing. Decisions decisions !!! Any advice?

I think the best advice is to see or try independently before buying if possible. I followed up on the Reed brand after my research into fishing in Norway. I noticed quite a few wearing it over there and in those conditions it got my attention.

Looks awesome Mark. What's the price on the full kit you have here please. Love the idea of the socks. Wet feet, or sweaty feet are the worse when on a long, cold fishing night. Everything else I can stand just not wet feet

I have been swamped when releasing a fish and my feet stayed warm and dry which is amazing really. The REED trousers needed drying out but that is to be expected.
