    You have to pull the harmonic balancer first, thats not a design flaw. Theres not many engines out there that you can take off the timing cover without first pulling the harmonic balancer as this is what drives the accessories.

  • @TorqueAndTwisted

    The water pump is behind that cover. There is no mechanical reason that a water pump needs to be blocked by a cover that’s blocked by the crank pulley. Better designs exist.

    Why are you even thinking about reinstalling a timing belt. They are not that expensive.And you are playing russian roulette with trying to reuse one.

  • @TorqueAndTwisted
    @TorqueAndTwisted2 сағат бұрын

    This tip comes from the factory service manual. And the time of about going on this car is $200. The timing belt isn’t expired or doesn’t look like it’s wearing abnormally, it’s OK to reuse it.

  • @TorqueAndTwisted
    @TorqueAndTwisted3 сағат бұрын

    This tip isn’t limited to timing, belts or engine rebuilds, it can be used on any belt coming off and going back on on any motor ever. Some people rebuild an engine much much sooner than the timing belt. Usually, I would recommend replacing it, but there’s plenty of times where it makes sense not to.

    I think everyone tries to say which one is best. Living in America, I can say I use both and was taught both in school. My 6th grade science teacher said it perfectly. “Metric isn’t better and Imperial isn’t worse just because more people use metric. There is a time and a place to do one or the other. Longer and bigger measurements is where Imperial shines so the numbers don’t start getting ridiculous. Metric is best for smaller, more precise measurements. Both have their advantages, but if anyone tells you metric is better, just say, ‘Imperial is bigger and better compared to all those numbers.’” So yes, I know what the f*ck a kilometer is lmao. I’m reminded that I know it every time I go to Canada and don’t *need* to change to kilometers on the speedometer. Both measurement systems have their benefits. Just because Imperial’s measurements don’t add up to some very nice whole numbers, doesn’t mean imperial doesn’t have it’s uses.

  • @TorqueAndTwisted
    @TorqueAndTwisted4 сағат бұрын

    Agreed, there are time and a place for both. And in a country where we use both, it’s interesting to hear from people who only use metric thinking the USA only uses Imperial. We use metric for almost everything medical or science related.

    The issue isn't with the metric system but with the imperial system. Both systems use whole rounded numbers, but the way the imperial system measures things doesn't align with the metric system's method of measurement. As a result, conversions between them don't match up perfectly. Factually speaking, the metric system is superior for measuring and weighing.

  • @TorqueAndTwisted

    There are great deals to be had with buying returned items. They do often take 1-2 days longer to ship, but thats rarely a show-stopper. I had 1 crazy situation however: someone had purchased a pricey Craftsman V-series ratchet (a rebranded Facom), then returned the packaging with a cheap Titan ratchet ziptied to it. This fraud got inadvertently sold to me as a Vseries. Amazon took care of it right away, but it was an odd glitch in the otherwise good program of buying discounted returns...
