    Southgate is fundamentally, a limited manager tactically. He had great success based of a simple system: -3ATB with at least one DM to provide defensive solidity -threat from set pieces -wingbacks who can cross -Kane dropping deep to play runners in behind to compensate for a lack of creative mids -as well as two gift wrapped easy knockout paths in 18 and 21. The losses of Maguire (set piece threat) Shaw (natural width on left) Sterling and Rashford (run in behind) have shown his shortcomings this year and how Gareth really doesn't have a plan B

    With Toney kept in the back pocket if a surprise bid comes in for Richy and the club gets a deal later in the window when Brentford have to drop their trousers. In that scenario, I can see both David and Toney coming in. Perfect.

    Jonathan David all day. A superb profile fit. Intelligent, unselfish, humble personality. Two-footed, clinical, Son-like finishing. Incredible work-rate (search for "Defensive work by forwards: new indicator - CIES Football Observatory" for the data). 0.86 G+A per game for Canada (Kane is 0.88 for England). He perhaps fails to quicken the pulse because he doesn't have a South American name and, in his own words, "In my positioning and in my movement, I'm thinking about what's going to help the team, not just make myself a hero. Of course I want good stats, but that's not the starting point." Get him in.

    @@BenBowman_ it depends on what type of player we want, i think zirkzee and openda would be the most entertaining based on dribbling ability and hold up play. zirkzee could lack the finishing based on what i’ve seen and i think openda would be my pick if those two but i wouldn’t say no to zirkzee. toney and solanke are premier league proven strikers and i think they’re really solid if we want strong good/consistent finishers combined with good hold up play. i personally think guirassy would an amazing option both for the price and his quality. i’ve mostly watched youtube highlights tbf but out of all of these hes genuinely one of my favorites. he looks deadly in front of goal, he’s dribbling is extremely impressive and so is he’s hold up play. vlahovic also looks like a really good option.

  • @miss_chris47
    @miss_chris47Күн бұрын

    I’ve wanted Toney for months - we need a pl proven striker to step in and fill the void immediately, make an immediate impact with no need to adjust to the intensity. The issue with Toney is that he’s not Ange’s perfect signing - he will be 29 this winter, he does have an arrogance that may end up being problematic and I don’t think he’s particularly moldable the way a younger player would be. Realistically how many years can we possibly squeeze out of him ? Not many. Someone like Jonathan Davis feels like a player Ange can work wonders with - he’s younger, has many strengths and would be one of those “for now & for the future” signings we seem to be geared towards. Not to mention he’s the cheaper option which would possibly increase our chances of securing someone like Eze 🤞🏻 that being said, I wouldn’t mind Toney at all as long as we could haggle down the price

    We need to ditch this double pivot. In Qatar we played a 433 and it worked. Keep the same back 4. You either play Foden Kane sake Bellingham rice mainoo/Wharton Or You play Gordon Kane saka Bellingham rice Foden We looked completely shafted because of the system. Change it back to a 433 and it’ll be night n day from what we’ve witnessed

    Is not the coach, the players are just not good enough. Look at spain, all 11 players can hold the ball so well. Can attack without fear, leave only one or two players at the back. England just do not have quality on the ball. The only way is to play long ball, cross ball and hope the striker will do the job.

  • @BenBowman_

    You can't say this England side doesn't have quality on the ball when we've got Kane, Foden, Rice, Saka, Bellingham, Trent

  • @jacklane3679
    @jacklane36795 күн бұрын

    Nice video mate! It just seems so simple... Foden vacates the LW and then Trippier has to run that whole side. So there's no left side threat, it's easy to defend, no press and we're open to counter there. Trent is shoehorned in without any balance. If we really planned to play this way with Foden and Trent we should have at least brought in another specialist LB to overlap, stretch the other team and press high. Mitchel? Doughty? Chilwell? None in the squad. Wholesale changes are needed to get balance. Use the France template; direct wingers, classic 9, lefty wizard 10 and workman pivot. We can achieve that balance with Foden 10, Bellingham and Rice pivot, Gordon and Saka wide of Kane.

    I 100% agree with you by having foden central, Gordon on the left and Bellingham alongside Rice. Our best moments came from when foden came in central. Bellingham can still perform amazing playing as an 8, he is a proper ball-carrier. Gordon will also be great on the left, he’s a good presser and can offer a lot on the left. And yeah, Wharton could also be nice to potentially have since Rice is definitely not amazing as a sole 6. But yeah, I agree with everything you’ve said man, dropped a like.

    With the right additions, I don’t see any reason why we can’t get third. Maybe even a cheeky little run at the title if we’re lucky, but I think the necessary squad building will probably take at least another year. Quite liking the fact Lange keeps things under wraps - adds to the suspense, but I reckon we’ll go large on at least one player! I thought we played well in the first half. I feel like we should play Bellingham in the position of Trent and having a proper 10 like Foden or Palmer. Bellingham has exceptional ball-carrying and is great on the ball. I could see what type of shape Southgate was going for. Kane as the sole striker, Foden and Bellingham behind him, Trippier and Saka out wide, Trent and Rice deep in front of a back 3. I still feel as if Bellingham can score even if he's playing deep, most of his goals are from box-crashing from a deeper position. Kane definitely needs better supply, he barely got any touches and was forced to drop deep in the second half to get anything. If we had a proper creative 10 and a proper winger out-wide, it might work well. We created some chances where we needed someone at the back post.
