    Thanks so much for the reactions. Serious kudos for the quality of the video production & the in depth analysis. I really believe your channel will set the tone & benchmark that all reactors will aspire to replicate. Keep up the great work. Not sure if you’ve watched The Wire- but if you enjoyed breaking bad & Sopranos, I highly recommend you consider reacting to it. Tony does have a point. Don't get me wrong, he's obviously the worst offender in the marriage, but Carmela has been trying to play a weird game the entire series, wanting the benefits of being with Tony while not feeling morally complicit or receiving consequences for it. In season 2, when she asked Tony to get a vasectomy, she backtracked that decision when Tony came back from murdering the guy who shot Christopher, and while she didn't literally know what he did, she could put the pieces together. What she doesn't like is the blatant rottenness of their life spilling into plain view, which is what happened when Irina called in this episode. There's a lot of performative grief she's done over the years, which is what Tony was referring to when saying she has nothing to say other than bitch to him or the priest.

    I always enjoy your analysis & I want to commend you all for the thoroughness & thoughtfulness with which you approach each character. Especially Carmela. You look at all aspects of her instead of the one-note criticisms some people fixate on. Is she materialistic? Yes. Does she enjoy having the best of everything? Yes..but that's also about her wanting the best for their kids. Only she also worries about their well-being in other ways & on a deeper level than Tony does, which explains her finally losing it when Tony's infidelities intrude into the inner sanctum of their home & their children's lives (as you clearly understood). Thanks for seeing her as a three-dimensional human being which is what makes her an interesting character & vital to the core of this fascinating show. Looking forward to Season 5. Buckle your seat belts & hold onto your Red Bulls! 🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵

    She doesn’t want the best for her kids. She willingly & proudly birthed 2 children into a crime family. She’s still very proud of that choice. Her kids have zero chance of living a normal life unless they put as much distance from their parents as possible. Their last name alone guarantees they will never be employed by a legit employer in the NY/NJ area. They will never have a real personal relationship either because of their last name.

  • @gregsgoogle2947
    @gregsgoogle29472 күн бұрын

    @@deborahcornell171 By the end of the series isn’t anything you should be talking about here. Nothing I said had anything to do with the outcome of both her kids. Carmela is a terrible mother because she chose to raise children in crime. Blood money built everything they see. Both kids either get as far away from their parents or they are doomed to a life of crime. Meadow is getting educated so she has a world of options. AJ isn’t old or smart enough yet to figure out any life plan so we’ll see if he does later. What’s obvious is they’ll have a horrible life if either follow in their parents footsteps. All mobsters end up suddenly dead or in prison.

  • @deborahcornell171
    @deborahcornell171Күн бұрын

    @@gregsgoogle2947 What's obvious is that Meadow doesn't follow in her family's footsteps & is her own person. You see that in her from the start & as she grows up. And even Tony gives Carmela credit for much of the good things about their daughter which I won't elaborate on here. My original comment was to compliment the guys for their ability to see the characters as three dimensional characters & especially Carmela. I had her in mind because of some really hateful comments I've seen where some people dwell on her faults as much or even more than Tony's. And even though Tony's a murderer we all see flashes of some good in him & the likeable things about him. Most people do the same with Carmela but some paint her as worse than Tony. And I don't think that's very fair. So I appreciate the way these gentlemen approach the characters in their discussions. I have the right to my opinion & you have a right to yours. But your replies to me sound unnecessarily angry & resentful. Go direct it elsewhere. Discussion is one thing. Your tone is not something I'll engage in further.

    "What does she have that I dont have?" The mystery that modern western wives for some reason can not solve, no matter how easy it is. A mistress doesn't bytch, moan and fight you all the time... is it too much to ask for a wife to be loving and kind? Modern women think the moment they get married they become the boss of their man or something, who can love someone like that?

    What’s hard to understand is why did Carmela rat out Furio? She knows she just signed Furio’s death warrant. She knows what Tony HAS to do now. Put a hit out on Furio. If she loves Furio why would she do that?? I don’t think she really did. She used him for a rock to throw at Tony just to make Tony feel emotional pain. She doesn’t really value Furio’s life at all.

    Some of tonys comebacks were valid. Carmela knew exactly who he was when she married him. She even admits it a few times throughout the show. She also knew exactly what was going on during the whole marriage. But she kept staying because he bought her nice things and she was able to live the lavish lifestyle so she has a little blame aswell.

    Johnny Sack is a snake, someone who played Paulie like a fool and who put a hit in motion on Carmine under the radar. That's why he can't just let Tony back off like nothing happened despite it being the smart thing to do, because it's in his nature to betray/play others. Him distrusting Tony says more about Johnny's character than Tony's.

    Where do you all think Chrissy’s status in the family will go from here? To recap, he started in the pilot as an associate (though a senior associate compared to the likes of Brendan Filone or Matt Bevilaqua), and was made in the beginning of Season 3, as a soldier in the Soprano crew (originally Tony’s father’s crew, which Paulie was promoted to captain of in the beginning of Season 2 after Tony became street boss). Then, in the beginning of Season 4, Chrissy is made acting captain of the Soprano crew due to Paulie’s arrest, much to Patsy’s chagrin, and soon after that Tony tells him that he will be his successor. However, Christopher was demoted from his status as acting captain once Paulie got out of jail, and then immediately after that got put into rehab. Where do you think he stands with Tony now with regard to potentially inheriting the family? Do you think he has any more promotions in store, or has his meteoric rise been cut short by his drug problem?

    You guys are one of the only channels that watches The Sopranos, that truly understands this show. Season 4 was considered slow and boring by a lot of people, but you see everything that the show has been about the whole time. Watching this season again with you all shows me how dense and complicated this season was. I forgot a lot of the things that happened this season. The most ghoulish thing that happened in this whole show was Paulie killing that elderly lady for her money just to get back on Tony’s good side. You are about the start my overall favorite season in Season 5.

    In the scene with Carmine and Tony making their deal, there's a pretty cool, subtle bit where, after Carmine suggests 20%, Tony looks at Johnny, who shifts his eyes downward. He did that to signal "go lower" to Tony, who then offered Carmine 15%.
