Patsy Parisi threatening Gloria is probably my favorite “mob threat” scene in any media. So casual, “it won't be cinematic”. And then he goes for groceries and home. For her, it was such a drama, for him, it was just another day of work - death threat, which he would follow through on orders of Tony, and then that's it, done for today with work stuff, time to pick groceries.

The scene with Tony and Ralphie discussing how to deal with Jackie is amazing. Both of them know Jackie has to die, but neither wants to be the one to give the order. Ralphie tries to make Tony give the order, and Tony keeps passing the responsibility onto him while at the same time guilt tripping Ralphie because its clear Ralphie is partially responsible for Jackie's continuing pursuit of the mob life, and also insinuating that if Ralphie doesn't choose to kill Jackie, people will say he was given special treatment because Ralphie is in a relationship with his mother.

Exactly...and many reactors miss this point while watching the scene. They think tony is telling ralphie that he wants to give Jackie Jr a pass because he was best friends with Jackie sr

David Chase has a commentary on the dvd for this episode and it’s very good. He said Ralphie probably wasn’t invited to help take down Feech Lamanas card game.

Man Gloria's actor is talented as hell. All of her insults to tony feel so harsh and volatile. They did excellent casting on this show.

Btw when Gloria spit in Tony’s face... that wasn’t in the script. She just did it out of instant & Chase loved it.

Good to see Charlie back, People praise the previous episode Pine Barrens and that’s fine but this episode blows it out the water for me glad to see you guys agree. You’ve got Tony and Gloria’s relationship blowing up, Jackie and crew shooting up that card game, Tony and Chris’ emotional scene at the hospital (a personal favorite of mine). The best word I can use to describe this episode is visceral there’s just so many things coming to ahead fantastic ep.

I love the end scene between Tony and Ralph. Both know what needs to happen but neither want the responsibility. Tony pretty much leads Ralph to make the decision himself, and Ralph wants to have the excuse of going by the boss’ orders. That’s how I see it at least.

Pretty sure the last scene is supposed to show how mundane the mob life is for most of the guys. He threatens a woman's life for the sake of his boss, then he's picking up groceries and thinking about dinner. Nice Juxtaposition

I have seen this show many-a-times. In my opinion, Season 3 (which is also my favorite season) has the best final 3 or 4 episodes of the entire series. The end of this season is just so captivating. Also really like this ending as well. It shows us the viewers, and in this case, that Tony and Patsy can go from being the people we see them as at work one minute. Then showing Patsy the next, picking up groceries and discussing dinner plans like the average family man. I thought it was a great way to end the episode

You guys really break it down well. Some quick hits, Tony is not aware of Gloria’s past relationships, that was during a Dr. Melfi session it came up with her. I also see this is a better overall episode than Pine Barrens, which is still a standout, but accurately described as a standout from the vibe of the series, but a great pair, leading to a fantastic finale. Charlie’s read of the Ralph situation is very observant, the man has a solipsistic view of the world. Charlie, glad you’re back!

Although Gloria has similar behavior of NPD, it’s more evidently shown as Borderline Personality Disorder. A “I hate you please don’t leave me” dynamic; each interaction Gloria curates is having Tony come back to her in some way and “work” for the relationship. If he’s mad at her means he still “cares”.Mood instability, unstable sense of self, impulsiveness, frantic attempts to avoid abandonment, and series of intense relationships stick out to me. She's in constant psychic pain and like so many with BPD, suicide attempts. If you recall, the therapist even mentions the disorder with Tony’s mom, which they allude to with Gloria being similar

Gloria knows all about relationship drama, and even enjoys it, but the mob is something else. You can see her shivering with fear when held at gunpoint. To make herself a victim of a crime of passion via Tony? She's down for that. But when Patsy threathened her, it got real in a way that she was not comfortable with. Great scene.

According to Sopranos podcast, Gloria spitting on Tony was the only thing ad-libbed by an actor that Chase kept, best part, she didn’t tell Tony she was doing it, it was ‘in the moment’ James G was literally pissed, but Chase loved it. So when they re-shot it at different angle they had to make fake spit to put on his face😂😂😂

Mini may not know but that little talk about Hillary Clinton between the wives and dinner, was little reference to the fact that Hillary's father was a member of the mob.

Great episode. I like the way the season starts with Patsy feeling helpless about his twin brother being killed in his car (ordered by Tony). And we're ending the season with Patsy being in the same situation his brother was, but now being in control and holding the gun against Gloria (ordered by Tony). The victim becomes the victimizer. P.s. Is Gloria dead? I may be reaching but we see Patsy puting his groceries in the back seat of his car, not the trunk. And the last thing we see is the trunk of the car driving away.

This episode is definitely top five for me. Pine barrons is great but it’s an episode I tell people to watch that have never seen the show. It’s kind of like a stand alone episode that you don’t really have to know what’s going on in the show to like.l and there aren’t any spoilers. This episode has all the action and drama. Once you go back I think you’ll appreciate the ending more. I think it shows the contrast between the mob life and their regular life. Ralph knew exactly what happened but told roe a different story and I always thought he was emotional because he knew he was lying and what he was probably going to have to do. Patsy had just threatened Gloria’s life then just goes to pick up groceries. That last scene and the music is always calming to me

Tony does not want Jackie killed he just doesn’t want to make the decision because he will be perceived as “weak”. He tries to influence Ralphie into making the decision but Ralphie catches on. Tony didn’t want the fallout from being the one who decides, but especially with Chris who he wanted to be his heir.

Annabella Sciorra (Gloria) was the nice, normal wife and mother in "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle". In that film she & her husband were on the receiving end of a psychotic Rebecca DeMornay.✨️ If you've ever seen that movie & then compare Ms. Sciorra's performance in that to her turn as Gloria here, you'll realize what a fine (& versatile) actress she is.✨️ If you haven't seen that movie you should check it out. It's great for when you're in the mood for suspense. It was a big hit & much talked about back in '92.✨️ Btw...Ernie Hudson (known for "Ghostbusters" & "The Crow" among many other things) is also terrific in THTRTC. 🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵
