    Why are there so many drug issues in vermont. Is NH and ME similar ?

  • @LivinginVermont
    @LivinginVermontАй бұрын

    NH and ME are pretty similar as they are so close. I imagine they also have their own drug issues. I think a large chunk of the problem is Vermont is so progressive and lets so many criminals of the hook and hope they come back to court later or they give them short sentences even when they are repeat violent offenders. They also offer tons of housing and stipends to the homeless, refugees and illegal immigrants... similar to California sadly

    Skiers and snowboarders are not the only ones that visit Vermont in the winter. You left out people who visit Vermont to do ice fishing and Snowmobiling. Vermont has about 5000 miles of snowmobile trails in the winter and and many clubs are very organized clubs that maintain the trails and put a lot of hard work in the fall to make sure everything is ready for winter riding. Snowmobiling brings a lot of money into the state of Vermont when there is a good to decent winter, which we haven’t had in the last couple years.

    I am or was a VT resident of 28 years before moving to Iowa two years ago. Barre is not really a place you'd want to live in, least for long. Call it a placeholder city, you're there for maybe 1 - 2 years most before you set your sights elsewhere. You're better off going to either Rutland, Williston, Burlington, Bennington, Winooski or even St.Albains. Sure, the affordability rates will be higher, but you'll be thanking yourself in the long run because really the contrast of civilization between Barre/Montpelier even to those towns is night and day. You'll just find yourself exhausting everything Barre has to offer right around that time range of 1-2 years before you're tired of having to spend so much on gas on the trips to and back from Barre to further away cities. You'll eventually be wanting to live in a more peaceful and safer city than potentially running into some troubled people looking to give you hell. That's the general consensus I've gathered from all of the stories I've heard of people who primarily lived in Barre. Some people love it but man do a lot of people really not like it. I'm nostalgic for Barre for numerous reasons, I've attended the schools there, I've walked a lot on the streets, thrifted, hung with friends and all that during my residency though I lived off in the smaller town of Graniteville so it was like if you walked to the top of Quarry Hill, you can literally see a good chunk of Barre right down to Main St. It is truly a sight. Otherwise, yeah, placeholder city.

  • @LivinginVermont

    Hey there! I am impressed with your honesty! We purchased our home four years ago in Newport. Two acres next to the HS, Elementary School, hospital, Cemetary.. Murder has gone up, unfortunately.. finally got the grant to fix our sewer/water.. taxes went up again.. schools are struggling to find or even keep teachers.. the ones we do have also work at walmart to get that extra income.. our hospital is constantly bombarded to the point that they have people in the hallway for all to see because there are not enough rooms in the E.R... if you are brought to the hospital by ambulance, you're going through the main lobby, and everyone in town is going to know that your grandmama is there before you even do.. you'll find out over facebook from a stranger but they are all of a sudden your long lost bff which will proceed with a "please pray for my dearest friend".. and be prepared to be accused of being there just to try and get prescriptions.. We were told great things about knocking down more than half of Main St buildings but now its a giant hole with trees growing through the cement and stray cats made it the giant "play place" their home.. once a drug dealer, your local theif, or your friendly neighborhood murderer gets arrested, they're out quicker than the media can get the "news" out.. Green Up Day was a big deal in our area bit its now encouraged that our children no longer participate due to the amount of needles and other things that are just here there and everywhere.. my nephew who was just 7 at the time got poked by one AT THE SCHOOL PLAYGROUND (two towns over).. DO NOT SWIM IN THE LAKE.. did i tell you that we have a water/sewer problem? But hey, we have Tim & Doug's Ice Cream! 🎉 OH, and finally, after fighting for YEARS to get this.. we have a WALMART est. 2016!! Yeah!! Our favorite theives are found in every aisle! Or better yet, casually walking through the front doors with their cart FULL.

    Do you think the market values on Vermont homes are going to skyrocket in the next year?? What are people coming in from out of state looking for in a property?

  • @LivinginVermont
    @LivinginVermont4 ай бұрын

    Hey! I don't think they'll skyrocket but I do think they will keep trending up as inventory is still low and interest rates are expected to come down at least a little towards the end of the year. Out of staters typically want great wifi, land/privacy, some want views/Vermonty feel, not much different than what most Vermont home buyers tend to want. Most want move in ready homes, or homes with minor work though as they often are on a timeline to move to Vermont.
