    True! Traffic in VT is not near as bad as major cities, but for VT, some areas like North Ave, Hinesburg, Williston, Essex, Shelburne, Middlebury can be a bit more than some people want to deal with around school and work times. The real traffic in VT is when an accident happens on the highway, especially in the winter with our 2 lane highways...

    Thanks for sharing. I recently subscribed to your channel and I love these videos. It would be really cool if you set up a dash cam on your car and drive through each neighborhood to give tours of the city and the neighboring communities such as South Burlington, Essex Junction, Colchester, Shelburne and Williston. Pictures are helpful, but more video content of the cities in action would make a bigger impact for your channel. Just my two cents. Keep up the great work and thanks again!

    Thanks Dan! I bought a little suction cup that holds my phone up and I put one of the clips at the beginning of this video, but it's not ideal. It takes up a tonnnn of phone storage so I have to figure a better system there, it also bumps and shakes with the car so gotta drive slowly and smoothly... and lots of times I noticed the dash reflects on the window which makes it lower quality... I appreciate the insight a lot though! It's something I'm still figuring out how to do, and of course trying to fit in time for filming around towns can be hard to fit in my schedule and then editing. Lots of excuses haha! I will try and figure out the best way to do it, I just don't want to be one of those low quality drive around videos that you can find on other random KZread channels. I think I might end up creating a nonpublic Playlist where people can join to see all videos of just driving around or something. I sometimes do that for individuals who are looking at a home in a specific area... I just have to always be thinking about the youtibe algorithm and unfortunately it would hurt my channel and views if I post a long boring driving video. But I might do something like that with a voice over so I explain what I'm driving through and it's not super boring. As you can tell, lots of ideas, and possible future videos. Anyways, if you have anything specific you want to see let me know! I appreciate the feedback. And I hope you appreciate this super fast response. 😄

    @@LivinginVermont Thanks Jacob. You make great points about video engagement with the audience. It can be tedious if there's too much driving and not enough discussion. You're on to something here with your videos because Burlington is a best kept secret at the national level and these videos shed light on the values of each neighborhood. Another idea that popped into my head is asking local leaders from each industry: Business, Academia, Politics, Activism and Philanthropy to guest star on the channel to discuss how Burlington has impacted their lives and what are the key values of the community that make them want to stay year after year. Think of it as a monthly spotlight interview type of content. This way you're incorporating different perspectives and highlights of what makes the community thrive for people in Chittenden County. I appreciate your swift response to my previous comment. I'm sure you're a busy person, but I respect your material and your responsiveness. Thank you Jacob!

    I lived on Conger Ave back in the day, but except for the North End back then I don't remember neighborhoods being sectioned off with designated titles, but I suppose they were and I was in the South End. The apartment I rented had a floor that leaned believe it or not and was $350 a month, but it was on the 3rd floor and had a gorgeous rear view of the Lake with a nice wooden deck to sit and the surrounding neighborhood was slightly industrial, but had lovely connecting neighborhoods to jog through which I did every morning.

People in Vermont are very sheltered and insular. Vermont is WEIRD.

  • @LivinginVermont

    @LivinginVermont

    Haha, VT can certainly be a change to people. I would say the cold and lack of sun doesn't help for happiness, but I find most Vters to be relatively happy regardless. Being locked inside alone with covid and the cold is never good for anyone's mental health so if that's the situation I recommend avoiding that at all costs. And if so turn off the news! Roads in certain areas like Montpelier and Burlington can be terrible but other areas can be pretty decent so it varies, the freezing and thawing does some damage... I certainly understand your point of view, Vermont isn't for everyone.

    Vermont sucks, moved there to try it in 2007, left in 2015, the people are as cold as the winters a lot of very inward turned surface folks, no matter how welcoming and open i was, people mostly shunned me since i was not a new englander / vermonter but yet they like the claim they are open and welcoming,, hehehe not so much . Summers actually do get quite hot and humid, it does in fact get over 90 degrees plus humid; and so many of these people are strongly anti- air conditioner, look, just because summers are shorter there than in other regions does not mean we want to sit in the car or the house we pay big money for and be sweaty , hot and not enjoy and be comfortable ! noise, so many people with modified cars and bikes with very loud mufflers make it impossible to enjoy a sidewalk cafe, or the place you live many times as you cant hear anything but that plus its quit painful this and many other laws are not enforced. Also; very high cost of living, low paying jobs and very limited job market, the panhandlers and homeless -by-choice people is out of control, vermonters as a whole are a very passive-aggressive bunch, they bitch and moan but they wont make any efforts to change the things in life or in their community they are unhappy about, they also take a very '' you do you boo'' attitude when it comes to mental health and substance abuse, when by default these folks are literally not competent and are incapable or making the '' choice'' to go get help, nor can they navigate the system, even when half way lucid , the roads and streets are in horrid condition, they make excuses because of the extreme temperatures, ice and snow , ( yet in other regions that gets cold like colorado for example , we see so many areas where the roads and streets are well maintained, ben and jerrys is very overrated, its average ice cream but like everything else very over-priced, yet there is better ice creams out there, like cold stone creamery for example but those dont exist in vermont :-( so many houses are also very unkempt, i know they are old but so many other regions of the country have neighborhoods with old and even historic houses but are very well taken care of and the areas look groomed and clean. NOW all that being said, was all my experiences bad? no, i did have some good times and i did meet and know some very cool folks i was very glad to know and spend time with , but the majority of the people are very inward turned and very superficial.
