A Divine Eksperience - I hope to repeat it next summer ❤
Hope you get good weather when you are there. Great viewpoint.
What an absolutely fabulous video. Stunning. Thankyou ❤️
Thanks very much. Glad you enjoyed it. More to come soon!
What camera did you use?
I use a Canon 5DIV and a DJI Mini 3 Pro. T Thanks for watching!
Mate, this was perfect. Thank you from NZ.
Thanks very much. Would love to do some hiking in NZ some day. Looks wild and beautiful!
Beautiful.
Thank you!
Classic Manthorpe. Brilliant. Loved it.
Thanks!
Fabulous video, I notice your sporting new walking trousers with cargo pockets what make are they.
Thanks Tim. They're just a cheapo pair from Mountain Warehouse.
Cracking video Jim! Beautiful 🏴
Thanks Andrew :-)
Is that Andrew Cooper of Stirling Uni fame?
@@Jim_Manthorpe-hiking it is indeed Jimbo!) quality films mate!
@@AndrewCooper-oj6wn In that case I'll call you Andy! 😄Thanks for watching mate! Hope all's well with you.
Nice one again Jim, looked a bit breezy. I loved these 3 when I did them, the cycle up to the loch is beautiful 👍 Great edit again Jim ATB Frank
Thanks Frank. It was so windy. Tent took a bit of a battering.
Did this walk many years ago but camped beside Loch Pattack. A great video.
Thanks Peter. I walked in to Culra many moons ago to do Ben Alder and the four nearby. It's a wonderful wild area.
Awesome views towards Ben Alder great video as usual
Thanks Andrew. Ben Alder was looking very wintry still.
Nice peaceful video Jim.
Thanks Andy. Felt very peaceful to be out there, although the wind was a bit feisty.
amazing video. Thanks for sharing. 👍8
Thanks Kurshid!
Another great video Jim, no need for words the landscape and stunning scenery does the talking 🏴❤🏴
Thanks. Yes, I like to let the mountains do the talking.
Nice tour in the nature 😊
Thanks for watching :-)
Amazing scenery Jim!!! Mountain camping isn't just a hobby; it's a way of life. This video serves as a beautiful reminder of the moments of joy and discovery I experienced in the wilderness.
I'm glad it brought back happy memories. I agree! Nothing quite beats mountain camping.
Beautiful. Your videos are a soothing balm for the soul.
Wow, thank you. You always say the nicest things :-)
@@Jim_Manthorpe-hiking Jim. You’re the only creator that can say so much with the video, and convey so much sentiment, without uttering a word. That’s the hallmark of a pro. Keep them coming please!
@@glenblaven Thanks so much. That's another nice thing you've said! There's another film coming in an hour or two.
Great footage of Knoydart. Many thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!

Thank you. 🙏
Always stunning Jim
Thanks. They’re stunning mountains.
1:53 An Emperor Moth, Saturnia pavonia, a male (those complex antennae)! It's a creature of moorland, the larvae eat heather. Well, I would seize on that, but it was just a part of a very rich film. To give you some tasting notes, I got sun, and shadows; suggestions of warmth, and snow; proximity, and immensity. The big sublime hit for me came at 8:24, you in shadow in silhouette against that sunny mountain side - just such a perfect composition. I was completely ignorant about the mountain Sgurr na Ciche. It's so distinctive and so grand. Reading up on it a little (the geological descriptions are highly technical) I think I have learned that the rock is a migmatite, hence those striations of lighter bands. Thanks again for a lovely, thought-provoking film.
And thank you Roy once again for your thoughtful notes. Interesting geology around there. I often think that there is a geologist inside every hill walker even if they don't know it. Why else would one be so captivated by these landscapes. It was lovely to see the emperor moth. It was just sunning itself on the molinia near my tent.
Lovely hike in beautiful surroundings, gotta love the mountains 🤩 Those stonewalls from days of old must have been hard work building up there, what was those for? Livestock? Very nice filming and a joy to watch! Thx for the hike Jim 😊
Thanks Martin. The walls were built by crofters in the 19th century who got paid in food by wealthy landowners. I'm guessing they were for sheep. Must have been hard work!
Amazing!😮
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Stunning Jim, the footage is brilliant from start to finish, loved the drone footage at the end..Nice to meet you on these hills, we got a great day for it! Also thanks for the mention in your description 😁 Cheers, James
Thanks James. Yes, was lovely to meet you too. You can probably spot the shot that I got just before we bumped into each other. It's the bit at 06:55 where I'm walking through the snow. It was just after that that I saw you coming round the corner. Such a good day up there wasn't it. I wonder what hill I'll see you on next!
Incredible footage, makes you want to go there too, very inspiring. ❤
Can highly recommend Assynt and Coigach. Best out of season though as it tends to be very busy in the summer these days.
A fantastic film yet again, thank you Jim.
Many thanks! Had a great couple of days filming this one.
A great trailer for your upcoming feature length epic Jim, I think what elevates Fisherfield from stunning to magical is its remoteness of access. Being able to hear the wind gave this video an extra dimension, and watching it between 2:01 & 2:17 was like looking at it from the open door of my tent! Marvellous 👌🙂👍
Thanks Tony. Sorry it was so short. Heading back there soon hopefully and will give it more "air time"!
@@Jim_Manthorpe-hiking Ah that's fine, quality before quantity 🙂👍
Great film Jim. Beautiful rocky hills.
Yes, very rugged and rocky in Knoydart / Glen Dessarry. Always amazes me how varied the geology is in Scotland. Each area has its own distinct feel - Torridon, the Cairngorms, Glen Coe....
Wow amazing I did a backpack to climb Ben Aden then Sgurr na Ciche and your video brought back so many lovely memories I had to watch it three times to take in the views excellent
Thanks Andrew. I've not done Ben Aden. It's been on my to do list for some time. Would have been tempted to tag it onto this hike but I was done in by the time I got to Sgurr na Ciche.
@@Jim_Manthorpe-hiking can’t wait for your video of Ben Aden it’s a cracking mountain we walked in via the loch from the Kinlochhorn Road it’s quite a hike lol take care cheers
@@andrewkingdom Yeah, that's a long walk in and I imagine it's pretty rough underfoot too.
absolutely stunning, thank you for sharing this Jim 🏴💚🏴
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Great cinematography, that place is dear to me, my brother was the keeper at Camusrory
Thanks and I'm happy you enjoyed it. I knew a keeper at Camusrory - Victor. I was a countryside ranger in Knoydart for a few years back in the 00s. It's a really special area.
@@Jim_Manthorpe-hiking my brother left in the mid 90s when they had kids due to the remoteness, mile to jetty from lodge then boat to mainland.
@@scotlandmyhome7484 Yes, it's a very remote spot that. Can imagine it would have been hard to bring up kids there.
Jings, what a beautiful film. You can really capture the magnificence of Scotlands mountain landscapes. Been on Skye for quite a few weeks now:cuckoo on 23/4, 1st swallow on 26/4, spring is really moving on now . Cheers man.
Thanks! I think my first cuckoo was the same day. Saw a few wheatears in Glen Dessarry too.Really love that spring is in full swing now.
Stunning filming once again Jim. I hiked these 3 Munros in June 2021. Started off in rain with no views on the 1st summit & finished on Sgùrr na Cìche with similar weather to you. Views will live long in the memory. The drone footage shows off the mountains in all their glory. ❤ Thanks for sharing. Atb Linda
Thanks Linda. They're great hills eh. I'd done them before but that was about 15yrs ago so it felt like doing them for the first time!
Beautifully filmed, Jim. (Lovely to hear the cuckoo at the start.) I find it somewhat mindblowing to see that there is a drystone wall so high up in the mountains. What an effort it must have taken for someone to build that all those years ago.
Thanks Veronique. Yes, it's amazing to see these perfectly built walls so high up and so remote. I know some of these walls are known as "famine walls". They were built by crofters who received food in return for the work. There's more about them here munromoonwalker.com/blog/beinn-deargs-great-wall-is-sad-reminder-of-our-past
One of those days when you can look into the distance and see the weather that's coming your way! I like the moments when you catch a glimpse of the sunlit valley below through a gap in the clouds. Thanks!
Yes, I like interplay between the clouds and the sunshine. Made for a nice end to the day.
Great video Jim, I was up there a few weeks back, brilliant hill! Did I bump into you in Glen Dessarry last week by any chance? Cheers, James
Thanks James! I’ve been enjoying your channel. You’ve got a great presenting style. Watched your ben lui film the other day as I’m planning to do that soon hopefully. Funny! I was going to ask ask you the same thing. Yes that was me on the ridge! I thought that you seemed familiar but it only dawned on me about an hour later who you were. Shame I didn’t realise at the time. Would have been nice to chat about filming. Maybe bump into you on another hill some time!
@@Jim_Manthorpe-hiking Thanks Jim, haha that was exactly the same as me - I knew I recognised you from somewhere 😂 look forward to seeing your video from that day out! Keep up the great work, hopefully see you in the hills again some day 😁
@@ScottishMunroJourney Wish we'd both worked it out at the time. Would have been good to have a longer chat. Great day up there eh. Looking forward to seeing your account of the day too. Fantastic felt I was there with you mate brilliant
Thanks Andrew! Lovely hill that one. Wild and rugged.
