Hi there and thanks for visiting my channel!

My name is Margit and I'm a trained social scientist with a PhD in criminology. I created this channel to share all kinds of fascinating facts and findings about criminology and crime prevention. I'll upload new videos weekly. Feel free to let me know anytime if you have questions or comments, or if there are criminology-related topics that you're looking for so that I can shoot a video about them.

Thanks for visiting!

Well, being badly treated from birth made ugly/abnormal people more susceptible to have to fight for resources harder than general populace.

Big flaw in this philosophy is happiness could be subjective. If a society claims that slaughtering 6 million jews makes them feel happier, who's to say that society is wrong then?

In my observation of sociopaths it had come to my attention that they may have their own language? Or at least Grammer is different in their speech. For instance the popular phrase "death to fascists" would really mean "death is in the hands of the fascists" or "the fascists are now responsible for death, we are not in this particular situation, but we are participating indirectly" a type of sociopathic dyslexia if you will This is an observation I have come by because I noticed quite a few people with narcissistic tendencies I know are Grammar Nazis. To the point that it seriously disturbs them. Probably as it deeply confused them. We know very little about the sociopathic mind and how differently their perception is. Just a thought This language is more perfected I'm the Eastern block and with languages that assign genders. Sociopath charts say anyway there is a higher concentration of sociopaths in former Eastern Block countries. The conclusion would be is they feel limited in speech which triggers them (sociopathic rage) if someone doesn't keep their Grammer and they feel inferior. Pronouns may also be a trigger because we are not fully clear how sociopaths see gender. It reminds me of how they say there are satanic messages in records when you play them backwords hahaha From my experience sociopaths seem incaple soulful, colorful or poetic speech. And it seems to bother them tremendously. This is another reason Eastern block countries have become so culturally impovershed during communism and now. They eloquent bible itself bothered them so much they destroyed , religion, poets, philosophers. Maybe now they see material value in the church and are the proverbial wolf in sheep's clothing now.

i disagree with the explanation of benefits outweight the cost, then crime will be committed and vice versa.. it does not explain the circumstances with kleptomania syndrome, focus is so much on opportunity and neglecting the responsibility to accept his actions or inaction.

She addressed it, the consideration of psychological and social factors in the causation of crimes are two other theories which both exclude rational choice as a causation

Why is it "criminology" and not "criminalogy"? It's a study of criminals, not a study of "crimins". Just wondering. :-)

“ology” is a suffix often associated the study or research of a field. For example, biology, anthropology, sociology, psychology, etc. Criminology is just another word to have the ology suffix.

Those are some very important ideas behind criminal law. I knew the ideas but not Beccaria's name. Thank goodness we live in a time where those ideas are mundane and unremarkable and uncontroversial (except perhaps the death penalty in some parts of the world).
